Breath of the Wild 2 will definitely fall in the BOTW timeline. They even said, "a sequel to BREATH OF THE WILD is now in development." They were very clear about that. In AOC's timeline, breath of the wild never happens. They were also very intentional in that they never once said that Age of Calamity was a prequel to Breath of the Wild. They never once said that, but we all obviously assumed that. The sequel will have no relation to Age of Calamity.

It isn’t a prequel, but it’s definitely prequel related as it does bring in some events that happened before botw. Yes, this creates a whole different timeline, but it is still based on some of the main events of what happened before botw

But would they even need to? The champions are still there to pilot them after Link frees the beasts. Do we know at what point in time they are taken from? Was it before Link woke up? After? After he defeats Ganon? Idek lol
@@tsemiu at the ending of BotW it is implied that the spirits of King Rhoam and the Champions "Cross over" leaving the beasts without a driver, thier intended tasks completed
I have to respectfully disagree with the notion that BOTW2 will be a sequel to AOC, and for one main reason. Yes, Hyrule is in pretty bad shape at the end of AOC, but the level of destruction is nothing compared to the original Great Calamity. The shot of Hyrule Castle lifting up into the air, at the end of the BOTW2 teaser, clearly shows the Hyrule Field from BOTW, and not from AOC. There's no sign of any of the buildings/towns that we saw in AOC.
3 big factors point to BOTW2 following BOTW and not AOC 1. Obviously the trailer outright stating "The sequel to BOTW" is now in development. 2. From a business perspective it is completely illogical to follow the events of a spin off game instead of the source game which sold several million more copies. 3. Most importantly, if you watch near the end of the sequel trailer where Hyrule Castle rises from the ground you can see all of the same landmarks and ruins from BOTW (minus the Sheikah tech). In Age Of Calamity many of these structures are still standing or undamaged at the end of the game, which all but confirms that the Sequel will be following BOTW's story and not the one from Age Of Calamity.
According to the Zelda wiki article about Age of Calamity the game is considered *non canon* to the *entire* Zelda timeline: zelda.gamepedia.com/Hyrule_Warriors:_age_of_calamity While i don't deny the possibility that Nintendo will possibly reference some of the characters seen in Age of Calamity(namely Astor due to his possible connection to the "Fortuneteller" mentioned in Rhoam's diary and plothole-ridden Terrako given his connection to Zelda's mother) i don't see why their characters been mentioned in the story of the game would suddenly make Age of Calamity have any relevance to the canon timeline whatsoever. If you ask me i feel Nintendo intentionally made Age of Calamity as a way to catch players off guard with it's plot twisting story that completley breaks away from the of the series narrative and thus reassure us that the sequel to BotW will most definetly be the complete opposite in regards to it's overall tone and themes. I wish people stopped insisting on linking AoC with the sequel to Breath of the Wild as we've yet heard any confirmation on the part of Eiji Aonuma himself if Age of Calamity is indeed canon to the Zelda series or not(i and many others do not believe so whatsoever). Regardless as to wether it will or not be referenced in BotW 2 this was a great video so i give you a like. 👍😉
@@mansooralami7391 Because Koei and Nintendo didn't care about continuity while making the game given it's emphasis on Warriors hack'n slash gameplay over adventuring in an openworld envrironment. I think Age of Calamity is going to be the only game in it's timeline. Any new Zelda game is just going to follow BotW 2. There might be some things shown in Age of Calamity that will make an appearance in BotW 2, like Astor.
@Marcelo Recinos He died in Age of Calamity. It's possible that he survived the Calamity in BotW original Timeline. As to how he survived for 100 year, he could just be really old like Impa and Robbie. Or he could use dark magic to keep himself alive.
Astor is probably dead anyways since he was created in the timeline where terrako got posessed, and that is the aoc timeline. Terrako does not exist anymore the botw timeline since he jumps into the portal. Do your research.
@@FieryRed_BE Astor wasn't just created when Terrako jumped through the portal, that's not how time travel works. Astor existed in the BOTW timeline too, because both timeline share the same history before the Battle of Hyrule Field, which was the first mission in AOC.
@@FieryRed_BE What do mean Astor was "created"? Astor is the guy with the dark cloak and carries that ball thing that looks like a Giant Ancient core. In the part where the game describes the characters, for Astor is says "A seer from a certain small village in Hyrule who plotted to revive Calamity Ganon. He was defeated and subsequently absorbed by the Calamity." How does that mean he was created when Terrako went to the past? Are you mistaking Astor for Harbinger Ganon? Harbinger Ganon is the present day Terrako that was posses by the Malice that followed Future Terrako through the time portal.
Age of Calamity was meant to give us a Golden Ending before sending us down into the fiery pits of Raisin Ganon Hell from the original timeline. No matter how good the story, Nintendo is not going to give us a sequel to a hack-and-slash game like AoC. The Zelda team supervised the company who made the game, and were very good about applying the skin of the breath of the wild Hyrule onto their game. It made for an excellent story, and Sidon's interactions with Mipha left him heartbroken at the end. BUT when Nintendo made it explicitly clear that BotW2 was using the same Hyrule as before, there is no way they would not make use of an original world a second time (that's expensive) nor would they hand it over to another company to make. Astor's dead in the alternate timeline, and I have a very good suspicion that he is going to be involved in the original timeline, where he may still be alive (if he can wield magic and isn't as stupid as AoC Astor, yes, this is possible). BotW2 was stated to be the darkest Zelda ever, and that's just the ticket after giving us a happy ending with Age of Calamity. Send us down into the pits of Malice...I mean, Hell.
I am sure breath of the Wild 2 is in the same time ,one as Breath of the Wild. The only impact Age of Calamity will have on it is the dependents saying something about it.

My idea for a sequel would be for the characters to go to another land and learn about democracy and try not get zelda dethroned and the third game in this trilogy would kinda be a terminator 3 ripoff with the heroes finding out that they merely delayed the calamity but did not stop it (ask for details on that plz)
There may be foreshadowing some things like astor, sooga, elemental enemies. But in canon the future champions may be inspired to take the mantle of champions. This could be written off as a dream or vision so playing AOC would be optional.
Id like to think the new timeline is split into three new paths based on these games and also mirror the triforce. Breath of the wild mirrors the triforce of power where ganon won 100 years ago. Age of calamity mirrors the triforce of courage where they won the battle with ganon. and the sequel mirrors the triforce of wisdom. Im speculating but this timeline could be where zelda doesnt focus on unlocking her sealing power leading her to be so grief stricten by it. Instead she goes full blown research scholar and finds out about the origin of the calamity and against her fathers wishes goes on a journey with link to find ganondorf. It makes sense to me as at the end of the trailer there are no shiekah towers or the pillars surrounding hyrule castle as both breath of the wild and age of calamity have both. I feel hyrule warriors is just a filler series that will parallel BOTW I mean the trailer calls it the sequel to BOTW I think it’s obvious that it’s a direct sequel
I think what is likely to come from AoC is that the Sequel will take place in BotW's world and rather than having "new" locations, we instead leap between the World of Ruin and the New World.

Hey, I know this might be irrelevant currently, but could you look into the Wind Tribe from The Minish Cap? It could play a part in the zonai tribe or breath of the wild 2.
perhaps age of calamity leads to a desolate timeline due to ganondorf. since Ganon is defeated 100 years earlier by the time Ganondorf returns 100 years after AoC Hyrule is caught completely off guard and so he utterly destroys everything
Age of Calamity is non canon to the Zelda timeline it's been confirmed by the Zelda wiki: zelda.gamepedia.com/Hyrule_Warriors:_Age_of_Calamity Until Nintendo decides they want to bridge the inconsistent fanfiction worlds of the Hyrule Warriors games with the serious consistent ones of the main Zelda series it's very likely that it won't be relevant to the plot of the sequel.

At least I expect they use this new timeline for something. Is canon that Terrako went back trough time after all, it could even be another HW game but about the sequel of BotW. Considering Terrako is alive after repairing it, and that it can travel to the alternate future, a little event about that would be nice

Hey honest question, do you want Aoc to have any affect on Botw? because I don't. Aoc story wasn't that great and the team that made Botw only got involved just for minor details but they left the story up to the other company, so it dosen't make any sense for something they work so hard on to be merge with something that didn't really care about the details of the actual story, other than that love you're videos.

BotW 2 being a sequel would be interesting as exploring the world 100 years ago, at least to me, would be so fun. It would also be a good way to make the world of BotW feel fresh since it wouldn't be the exact same. Though, as you said, the odds of that are pretty slim since it's just a side game and it would probably piss the community off. I am curious as to how the Zelda team plans to make the world of BotW 2 feel fresh and what new areas they'll add.

AoC is most likely just completely non-canon to the Zelda timeline. I doubt they'd be dumb enough to split the timeline after finally reconverging it, plus so many stuff points to it just being non-canon like the first Hyrule Warriors game. Nintendo really messed up by doing this with AoC; had me so hyped, now I don't care about ever playing it

My idea for a sequel would be for the characters to go to another land and learn about democracy and try not get zelda dethroned and the third game in this trilogy would kinda be a terminator 3 ripoff with the heroes finding out that they merely delayed the calamity but did not stop it (ask for details on that plz)
I definitely feel very bittersweet with Age of Calamity. It was a great game but it’s honestly just making me confused.
I think it would be interesting if “BOTW 2” was set on AoC’s timeline.
It would suck lol
I feel hyrule warriors is just a filler series that will parallel BOTW I mean the trailer calls it the sequel to BOTW I think it’s obvious that it’s a direct sequel
Could be.
I think what is likely to come from AoC is that the Sequel will take place in BotW's world and rather than having "new" locations, we instead leap between the World of Ruin and the New World.
Yeah I agree I think they will just go deeper into areas we’ve already explored.
I REALLY hope Nintendo explores the Age of Calamity timeline, at least a little bit.
Did you guys know there’s 600 recipes to get a high level boost? Lol
No!
@@allthingszelda yes. There’s a total of I think 70 base recipes? There’s a way to get a x3 out of each and every one of them. There’s in fact a high level fireproof elixir. That’s how I completed the first ever Fireblight fight in the sheika set. And it got 4 views! Lol
Try. Apple, butter, 2 porgy, crab. It’s real bro
Mipha link ship is possible in aoc timeline so I’m happy lol. I think it makes sense that Botw 2 is in aoc timeline bc of them exploring for ganondorf. Seems like Botw 1 Zelda would have better things to do. Also solves the Botw 1 to 2 item transfer retcon they would have to make somehow

Thank you! How come no one is talking about this except you? Didn’t Nintendo say they worked closely with this game? I’m thinking the Zelda and link we see in the sequel trailer are battle hardened (that’s why her hairs cut) and they’re going in search of gannon
Tyrannis man I’m not sure but it definitely all fits!
@@allthingszelda they’re tryn to stop the calamity that is “breath of the Wild” and end up waking Gannon up. Remember a year ago or so and we were hearing rumors that the “hero of the Wild” was gonna be a trilogy?! Age of calamity was part 2
That’s why we don’t see Sheika shrines and what not. Because link never set them off...
the timeline is even more confusing now haha
Tell me about it 😱
did it ever fully make sense? lol
liked the idea and loved the video but my concern is how Nintendo is going to hold all this up, Cause arent they the ones trying to say that Breath of the wild Connects all 3 time lines in some way like just way way later on so they wouldnt have the split time lines any more ? so in AOC why do they want to make another split again lol im so confused about this choice making of them and past that even if breath of the wild is not connecting the time lines together why would you want to make another split time line again lol
Yeah it’s all confusing. But maybe that’s the point. 🤔
@@allthingszelda my guess is later down the line (1-2000 years) both events were so similar that new zelda games can occur on both timelines
Hey, I know this might be irrelevant currently, but could you look into the Wind Tribe from The Minish Cap? It could play a part in the zonai tribe or breath of the wild 2.
Of course!
Your videos are so awesome! Thank you so uploading!
Thank you!
perhaps age of calamity leads to a desolate timeline due to ganondorf. since Ganon is defeated 100 years earlier by the time Ganondorf returns 100 years after AoC Hyrule is caught completely off guard and so he utterly destroys everything
Age of Calamity is non canon to the Zelda timeline it's been confirmed by the Zelda wiki:
zelda.gamepedia.com/Hyrule_Warriors:_Age_of_Calamity
Until Nintendo decides they want to bridge the inconsistent fanfiction worlds of the Hyrule Warriors games with the serious consistent ones of the main Zelda series it's very likely that it won't be relevant to the plot of the sequel.
@@javiervasquez8995 Ok thanks for lettming me know. Im actually happy that its non-canon
@@lliamreusser4534 You, me and probably a large majority of the Zelda fanbase. Let's hope Nintendo is smart enough not to tie in the way more cohesive and consistent story of Breath of the Wild with the nonsensical fanservice ridden mess seen in Age of Calamity.
Yeah it was pretty lame how Nintendo marketed us into thinking it was relevant.
2:50 She still awakens her powers after the Calamity returns.
Yeah
Why did Nintendo make another timeline split after "solving" their first one
After playing AOC then random note videos. One video showed other dialogue for revali. One of the few said. That revali and link never fought. Revali wished they would have fought. So maybe the AOC timeline is the champions wishes or dreams? Don't know just a shot in the dark.
Maybe. Thanks for watching!
it's the botw one for sure, it was originally gonna be dlc 3, so they were making it before koei tecmo even proposed aoc

@@jabiezook Sorry
At least I expect they use this new timeline for something. Is canon that Terrako went back trough time after all, it could even be another HW game but about the sequel of BotW. Considering Terrako is alive after repairing it, and that it can travel to the alternate future, a little event about that would be nice
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Simple they bring the champions to the main timeline since there to popular to not milk.
Simple isn’t the word I would use haha
@@allthingszelda Lol, I would love that to happen, which is something I've mentioned before but I'm usually attacked by AoC haters. But like you said, I couldn't see that happening. My personally opinion, I would love that though. Julian Solo, I wish it were that simple. Nintendo probably knows it would split the Zelda fanbase, but you and I could only dream though! I'm still holding on to the promise Mipha gave to Sidon that they will 'meet again'. I highly doubt that was a plothole. So, I'm sure we'll have something down the road, but there again, it is hard saying at this point.
*too
Hello! Long time Zelda fan (since the original) just subscribe, nice content.
Appreciate it! Welcome!
I mean I think whether we want it to or not, it has made an affect on BOTW2. I think Nintendo will take some things from AOC for sure.
I think the age of calamity with come into play with the breath of the wild timeline in the sequel. As in like 2 links and 2 zeldas aswell as a way to get the old champions in!
You never know it could happen!
@Tales Ferreira I'm open for anything to happen! If anything Age of calamity has reignited everyone's excitement and that is great ❤
Is BOTW a reboot of the fallen hero timeline? With AoC it sure seems like it could be.
I don’t think so...
Lovely videos man
Thank you!
What if they do another time split?
It’ll keep things interesting for sure.
New vid yay
:)
It killed me when he said Riu, it’s ok but ahhhhhhh..... it’s Riju
Now i'm imagining Riju dressed up in a martial arts gi outfit ready to throw some hadoukens Street Fighter style. 🥋😅 (in case you don't know Ryu is a character from the fighting game Street Fighter).
@@javiervasquez8995 lol
my bad ;)
Ok not to be rude but I am tired of hearing that it’s a prequel it’s a spin off just like the other warrior game and is in a different time line because they used I don’t know TIME TRAVEL and brought back characters for the Botw timeline they said Botw 2 is a a sequel to Botw outright sooo get it in your head people
I mean your right ;)
@@allthingszelda thanks😁
I mean it’s technically a prequel spin off
Dueling timeliness in Botw 2.. hopping back and forth between splits..
That would be interesting.
God no
i spent 75 fiths of my whiteboard trying to figure this out
:)
Hello love your vids
👋🏼
BotW 2 being a sequel would be interesting as exploring the world 100 years ago, at least to me, would be so fun. It would also be a good way to make the world of BotW feel fresh since it wouldn't be the exact same. Though, as you said, the odds of that are pretty slim since it's just a side game and it would probably piss the community off. I am curious as to how the Zelda team plans to make the world of BotW 2 feel fresh and what new areas they'll add.
Me too. Thanks for watching!
I thought Age of Calamity was non canon?
It's so iffy man. Honestly it could go either way.
@@allthingszelda do you still think its non-cannon after the trailer of botw2? I'm so fucking lost

Timelines are complicated.
Yeah 🤦🏼♂️
@@allthingszelda Can u make a vid on IF Link should talk?

what
Can I have a shoutout pls and great vid bro
Thank you.
Fun fact: in ocarina of time Zelda uses the ocarina to send link back in time therefore she caused the timeline split
And Also in botw she makes terrako go back in time therfore THE TIMELINE SPLITS AGAIN LIKE WHY IS IT ALLWAYS ZELDA WHO RUINS EVERYTHING🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡🤬🤬
Because she's a female
@@RustyyFork 😳
How exactly is a timeline split such a bad thing?
If the time split never happened then we wouldnt have gotten the aoc ending which is more satisfying than the botw
Nice video but be careful you make too many mouth noises with your saliva. Keep up the good work to be our best source for Zelda content 😉
Thank you
AoC is most likely just completely non-canon to the Zelda timeline. I doubt they'd be dumb enough to split the timeline after finally reconverging it, plus so many stuff points to it just being non-canon like the first Hyrule Warriors game. Nintendo really messed up by doing this with AoC; had me so hyped, now I don't care about ever playing it
@Antony Alamilla Exactly, the Hyrule Warriors games are just non-canon "What if" games
I thought they said this was canon? That was why when they revealed a Warriors game taking place in BotW's Hyrule 100 years ago, we all assumed it was a prequel to BotW
@@aaronolson6736 I don't think they ever explicitly said it was canon, which is probably why they thought it was clever of them when all they said was "See the battle 100 years ago" and stuff like that so that the twist would be how it wasn't the actual one.
Well according to the article in the Zelda wiki it has been seemingly been confirmed to be non canon:
zelda.gamepedia.com/Hyrule_Warriors:_Age_of_Calamity
Since they are by far the most reliable and accurate source of information regarding Zelda Lore it's safe to take their word until Nintendo confirms anything themselves post release. I myself hope they'll let Zelda stay Zelda while the Hyrule Warriors stuff can stay on it's own separate independent non canon continuity/dimension/timeline/wathever.

Age of calamity was so bad I’m upset to even even consider botw2 be in that timeline or related at all
AoC is just a mediocre fanfic imo
I respect that
I thought it was really good. Anyway, the sequel reveal quite clearly said it was the sequel to Botw not anything else.
