Falafel, hummus & salad, maybe wholemeal pitta pockets too, who doesn't like this gorgeous food? Or brown rice salad with sundried tomatoes and other sundried veggies, mushrooms, peas, broccoli, tofu? Just add what you have. No oil needed. A great 3-bean salad (oil-free) with sliced red onions and parsley. Season with balsamic vinegar and a little salt. A very cold watermelon or cantaloupe melon, particularly delicious in the summer I never ask anyone to make WFPB oil-free and sugar-free food. I eat beforehand and bring one of the above dishes. I don't bring triggering foods like sweets or desserts, there'll be lots of those already, and nobody needs to put on weight!
I've made this featured black bean brownie recipe many times and love it! Will have to try the Perfect Vegan Carrot Cake recipe on hte Forks Over knives website. I think the hardest part for non plant based people to understand is the no oil piece. They understand vegetables but when I'm asking for the food to be cooked without oil? The "healthiest" olive oil around?! This is when it goes from "She is a typical vegan" to "She's crazy!" I prefer to bring my own food because asking someone to cook without oil is as if I just asked them to cook without an oven!
Loved this topic! Very practical. I've been WFPB for over a year. The biggest challenge has been the conversation in the family. I have learned to let them show interest before talking about this way of life.
