    This was a beautiful episode today I went to the oratorical festival and I am in the senior division but one of the junior topics was about the importance of silence and that message really stuck with me. This video and the speeches really helped renew my faith bc I often find myself reluctant to pray in silence. My favorite part of this video was the idea that God's voice is a whisper that can't be heard unless we take time for him in silence. Thank you so much for making this episode! I really enjoyed it!

    I was once a Christian CEO-Christmas and Easter Only!! Don’t be a CEO. Thanks to the Lord that ended when I found the True Orthodox Church ☦️. Go to liturgy/vespers (or your non-orthodox church) every chance you get

    I think it's most important to be a spiritual Christian vs a religious Christian. Anyone can say they go to church. But it takes a real Christian to live Christianity. To have a special connection with Christ. To have a personal connection will bring you closer to God vs just church. Sometimes that requires isolation and meditation.

      Although your statement holds truth, the distinction between "just church" and "church" must be made. An Orthodox Christian *must* attend church Services, this has always been true, but it must also be accompanied by private prayer. Private prayer is a fundamental building block to uniting oneself to the Lord, and ignoring it will make your spiritual growth deadfully slow (and most of the time cause regression, God forbid), but this does not somehow negate the importance of attending Services (quite the opposite, actually).

    I left my church for a short time a long time ago, mostly because I was tired of the "business" side of things. It was hard to pray when I was so distracted. Decades later, I go to church and sing in the choir, but I'm still distracted because people are coming and going and there is noise from kids and adults too. This is so different from when I grew up. It's distressing. But, I light my candles and try to block everything out as best as I can. The BEST place I find silence is in my own backyard or in beautiful gardens near our home, especially this time of year when trees, flowers, and bushes are in bloom. Thank you Steve. This video hit home for me. Have a good Holy Week.

    thank you so much for your simplistic and true manner of explaining our Orthodoxy to our youth (and us adults :) )I would love to give something like this to my Godson, even though he's only 3! Have you compiled your series into a dvd for us to purchase? If not, please consider doing so!! If you have, I would love to own a copy!! Thank you!

      Thank you!
      You wouldn't be alone, we've heard from a lot of families that share the videos with very young children. We've heard of quite a few "Be the Bee" birthdays for little kids, too!
      We haven't looked into making DVDs yet. It's an expense for people, and we weren't sure there'd be interest. But we can look into it, thanks for the suggestion!

    Is it possible to achieve this without the guidance of a spiritual father.

    Can you clarify about the 8 logismoi? Cause I'm not sure what they are as contrasting to the 7 deadly sins since they seem to be interchangeable.

    • @y2am
      @y2am  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Miguel Padilla They're somewhat related. The list of the 8 logismoi goes back very far in history; the most famous version is attributed to Evagrius of Ponticus (4th century). Two of the 8 logismoi ("discouragement" and "sorrow," though they vary in English depending on the translation) were combined into "sloth" by Pope Gregory I (6th century). That became known as the list of the 7 Deadly Sins.
      However, the thinking behind the lists is different; in some ways, it reflects differences between the Orthodox Church and other Christians:
      The 8 Logismoi are more about patterns of thought that we need to be aware of and then take steps to address. Sin is a sort of illness, which leads to death. We find health and life in our connect to the source of life, God Himself.
      The 7 Deadly Sins are more about conduct that is described as especially sinful, often in contrast to lesser or more venial sins. This can have consequences in the way we connect sin and punishment, rather than ascetic effort and treatment for the development of health and connection with God.

      This helped a lot :D thank you very much for clarifying the confusion. One more thing though. I've been reading about the passions and sin but then there's a list from each one. Are they different from each other as well?

    • @y2am
      @y2am  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Miguel Padilla Another great question!
      Sin and the passions are different things. Sin is our separation from God. Passions are things we suffer, the impulses that lead us around (sometimes, if we grow too weak, against our will). Passions (the desire to be violent, to gossip about someone, etc) can lead us into sin if we're not careful.
      Yet passions aren't necessarily bad. As we grow closer to Christ, we can redirect our passions to pull us closer to God rather than away from Him.

    There is no about rosary on the bible.

    • @stevenchristoforou1667
      @stevenchristoforou1667 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's true. Prayer ropes (and rosaries) developed later as a tool to help achieve what St Paul called "prayer without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

    You missed the bits in the bible about slavery and stoning children to death.

      And to be technical, those were practices that Christians never practiced but the Jews as Christians (Christ's followers) emerged after 50 AD :)

    • @steve2474
      @steve2474 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Secular ideology- communism, socialism, nazism, nihilism, anarchy are the definitive sources of slavery and death. They have killed millions and enslaved entire nations. Christianity is about the dignity of the human soul by giving the glory to God as our creator.
