- Song: Drain You
Studio Release: Nevermind (1991)
Show: Pat O'Brien Pavilion, Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar, California, USA
Date: 28 December 1991
The song featured is culled from the Westwood One radio broadcast of the show, one of a handful of dates the band did supporting the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The songs used are all strong performances of commonly played songs. 'Drain You' is interesting, featuring an alternate introduction possibly due to Kurt using a different effect on his guitar that is, as far as it's known, unique to this show. But otherwise a fairly standard run through.
The show these songs came from is a good performance. The band, playing second on a bill including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam performs a short set, consisting of most of the bands hit songs of the time. This is a strong performance by a band at the peak of both their powers and popularity and is well worth checking out.
From the live album "From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah"
Lyrics
One baby to another says I'm lucky to've met you
I don't care what you think, unless it is about me
It is now my duty to completely drain you
I travel through a tube, and end up in your infection
Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
I like you
With eyes so dilated, I've become your pupil
You've taught me everything without a poison apple
The water is so yellow, I'm a healthy student
Indebted and so grateful, vacuum out the fluids
Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
I like you
One baby to another says I'm lucky to've met you
I don't care what you think, unless it is about me
It is now my duty to completely drain you
A travel through a tube, and end up in your infection
Chew your meat for you
Pass it back and forth
In a passionate kiss
From my mouth to yours
Sloppy lips to lips
You're my vitamins
I like you

@@bluegregory6239 damn right
Most definitely
I’m divided between this one and In Vitro !
But god damn he was trashing his voice on this one!
Yup. The guitar sounds good and his voice is best on this version
There will never be a better band
True
For newer bands that are awesome check out: Tancred, Two Inch Astronaut, Speedy Ortiz, Pile, Grass is Green, The Garden, Johanna Warren, Washer, Dystopia. For older ones check out: Sebadoh, Pavement, Beck, Portishead, Sonic Youth, Eric's Trip, Duster. I'm not saying any of these bands are better than Nirvana because i don't believe music can be better or worse because it's all so completely different. Love is blind. I Love you ALL!!🤍🖤🖤🖤🤍🖤❤❤🖤🤍❤🖤❤🤍🖤❤❤🖤🤍🖤🖤🖤🤍
Can't believe it's been nearly twenty fucking years since I saw them live. Time goes way too fucking fast
No Gods or Kings Just Men you're lucky af dude

Gone but NEVER forgotten, R.I.P. Kurt Cobain you are still a legend despite being gone, and also R.I.P. to my loyal sincere good friend Ryan Gothy Gromada, He was a huge Nirvana fan. You are also gone but will never be forgotten by your true friends. Maybe someday your other real friends and family hopefully will see this message to you since you can't. You will never be gone from peoples memories those whose lives you made an impact on.
Respect
Such a perfect sound!
Best version. Better than the studio version. 0:48... just perfect . Sadly the screaming is missing. RIP kirt love from Greece
my absolute favourite part of any nirvana song is at 0.48, the energy, damn!
@Joselyn Square Ha ha me too
@Daniel Byrne Exactly why he says "Better than the studio version". Because he doesn't scream like that in the studio version.
That's why we love this version :)
Think you misread the comment.
@Daniel Byrne I didn't write the message to be condescending.
@Daniel Byrne He is sad they did not add it in the studio version
Man that intro.. it’s chilling. Idk if it’s the distortion or what, but the beginning sounds like an older version of Kurt. It sounds like he aged quite a bit and is still performing in that first 5 seconds, and it’s really creepy but really cool
dude I completely feel that. when I first heard this, I completely thought that it was something that went pass the 1994 mark since it sounded a hell of a lot different than all the other versions I heard.
This recording is one of the Top 10 songs in Rock History. Nirvana at their best!
Holy fuck, am I 15 again in my bedroom listening to this with my AOL connected computer speakers as loud as they can go?!?!?!?!?!?¿?
I love kurt his voice touches me so much💓💓💓💓💓💓💓🚬

Would have been cool to experience a Nirvana show but still brings me back to 1996 when I was young and had just discovered Nirvana! Actually first live record I ever owned lol
Same!!!
Used to rinse this on the bus to school every day, love this album so much!
@@TheMissKittyStar I did the same thing lol I had a CD Walkman that I would take with me on the school bus, and play this. "Unplugged" was another CD, I would wear out.
@@Donscottmusic
Mum and I used to rinse Unplugged in NY all the time for road trips, she loved it
@@Donscottmusic
I had Muddy Banks on Tape, fully portable brick styles
@@TheMissKittyStar That's cool. "Unplugged" was the first Nirvana album I ever heard. I remember my dad buying the cassette and I probably listened to it, more times than he did lol Played it so much that I wore it out, and then had to buy it on CD.
Happy birthday Kurt 🎂🎉
Chord book, album CD all in storage

2Hi
Hail kurt we love you 666
Wtf
RHCP, Pearl Jam and Nirvana in one show and in their peak....wow
Есть ли видео этого концерта ?
My favorite version always. I used to shuck oysters at this bar in Boston back in 1996 and when this was put into the jukebox I used my tip cash to play the whole album every shift. It was mostly tourists but they never seemed to give a shit, nor did I.
I spent 93,000 dollars in drinking alcohol at a specific bar in the years 1995-1998, and this single was on the Jukebox. I played it every night. 🌃.
That's lot of money, Bro. At least you spent it listening to Nirvana.
i worship nirvana
I love the new pitch
1991 7 between 1984 and 1998.
