MONTECRISTI. The city of Morro

Monte Cristi is one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic, located in the Northwest region of the country. It was founded by Nicolás de Ovando in 1506 and repopulated by Pedro de Bolaños and 60 families from the Canary Islands on May 13, 1533.
Monte Cristi was depopulated during the devastation of Osorio in 1606, with whose population and that of Puerto Plata Monte Plata was founded. Then it was repopulated on April 25, 1879, as a Marine District, for that date of 1879 Montecristi changed its patron saint to San Fernando de Montecristi, celebrating its date on May 30. #Montecristi #fronteradominicohaitiana #Juanmarichal
