One of the best trips ive ever been on. I was bummed we didnt get any night footage but im going to see if I can get a better light for the camera. Hopefully it works because the night bite was really good

The rod and reel work great together but if I can ask why in that situation is a spinning setup better than a conventional rig ?

Spinning and Conventional are both really good in this situation, the reason why I went with spinning is I can take off my reel and put it on my casting set up. This way I didnt have to buy 2 reels. Another reason for me is I tried to jig with conventional and it felt very different with the handle being on the other side. Conventional is better if you get tired and want to put the rod on the gunnel and fight the fish. Both work good and can get the job done. It come down to person preference

Thanks for the reply another quick question. What is the exact specs on that Saltiga spinner in the beginning ? A slow pitch or reg jig rod ?

@@innkeepers2561 Its a regular jigging rod. The product ID is SLTGJ58XHS.
      5'8''
      1 pc
      X-Heavy
      Moderate Fast
      Braided Line Weight 60-150lb
      Jig Weight 120-300g
      Number of Guides 6
I like it but my only complaint is when I'm fighting a fish I wish the handle grip was a little larger. Ive been looking at the shimano grappler jigging rod at the stores and it seems to have a longer grip.

Love the action! I’m planning out my first trip there Memorial day Sunday. What depths do they fish. I have a bunch of slow and fast jigs 100g-300g would these be heavy enough? Do you think 400yards of 40lb braid and a 50lb leader would do the job?

Thank you, I appreciate it. They normally fish in about 100 feet of water. I normally use 200 gram speed jigs. Ive used lighter ones when the ocean was really calm and not a ton of current. The heaviest ive used is 280 gram and it kills my arms so the sweet spot for me was 200gram. 400 yards is plenty of line. You should be good with line. I also have a slow pitch setup and have it spooled with 40lb braid and i normally do a pound leader. My other jigging setups im running 65 lbs line, 80lbs leader.

@@jackrolafishing Thanks man! Any colours you specifically recommend for Jacks? I’m going to do a little lure shop haha. Coming down from MD that weekend. Can’t wait!

@@EzzK-wv2xb I normally have white, purple, chartreuse, and pink. Ones with a little bit of glitter work really well. These are ones I like using www.basspro.com/shop/en/williamson-lures-benthos-speed-jig

I was on the overnight trip that evening, had a blast. Never done the full day, do you get enough fishing time? Any idea about when the first drop is? On 18hr it was 5 hours before we started fishing, captain knew what he was doing though he put us on the fish

It was such a good trip. This was my first 18 hr and I will definitely do another one. The 12 are really good also. They leave at 6am and it depends how far they go but normally 830 or 9am we get to the first drop. Plenty of fishing time. After jigging all day im smoked by the end of the day
