If you are one of the singers featured in this video, we thank you. Idk man, this just hits a vibe I cant explain. And brag about it bc yall killed it. Every one of you.
One of the characteristics that makes humans a most successful and remarkable species is our capacity for teamwork. There is perhaps no more sublime expression of this than a choir or orchestra.
@@SamuelJoseph962 I'm not sure that science backs up what you're saying. There are plenty of great videos on youtube that show how ants and bees work way better together than humans do.
One of the things I love about watching a choir is how they always look happy to be singing and performing with their friends. It’s infectious and a bit of envy-inducing too.
I don't know about everyone else, but I love the guy grooving in the back with the violin... he epitomizes the way music brings people together in that one does not have to be "the star" but rather taking pleasure in enjoying and celebrating the performance of others
Ralf J. Bater, also others that read this comment, this is a true definition of all people working together. Would be nice to see more of this in the World today! John, Australia.
It is said that this is taken from an African cattleman song. I was once sitting in a pickup waiting for my dad to get off work and drive him home. It was taking a lot longer than expected. I started singing for my own amusement with no one around. When I got to this song and started singing, all of the cattle that were in the field came to the fence and were staring at me. I guess someone found out a long time ago that cows have a musical preference as well. I feel there is magic wasted with no herd to hear.
Well, You are not far from truth, the original song is called Mbumbe (1939) By Solomon Linda, who is a South African Male born in 1909. I know the Solomon Linda Family Personally. in fact, this year, his statue will be unveiled in Zola Soweto.
This is what REAL diversity looks like. Young people brought together who share a common interest whose voices combined are so much more powerful than any one of them alone. We need leaders, like this choral director, who can bring people together, not divide them.
I envy everyone, at every performance, at every theatre they go too! A big fan of Glenn Close. Didn't see her live performance; but saw the broadcast. And, of course, she was magnificent.🤩
I love the video. Listened to it over and over. It is infectious. But as said before the guy is the happiest person there. I love his joy and happiness he shows. That is what this song, video, the conductor and the singers are great
HONY brought me here. Beautiful unique power indeed. And how he invited the crowd to sing along. Inclusivity and encouragement all the way! Love from Indonesia 🧡
This is a conductor and choir at the top of their game. It's simply poetry in motion. They make something that's got to be seriously hard to do look so effortless and amazing.. I totally love it...
A group singing a song a group of people, no matter age, physical or mentally disabilities, race religion, or any views..... For that moment in this dance we call life we are one. In a rather dark world one voice one together shines brighter then any star in the sky.
Ive known this song for 40 (?) years. Its only now i find out its not "wimbaway" but wimoway. Lol. i still cant unhear the "b" though. Apparently my ears are to old now to be corrected.
I had to play this twice - the first time, I only listened, and only the second time, I was also able to watch them, to focus on the video, to see how their own tunes move them. If my comment reaches anybody, that will most likely be *after* you've already played the video, but if by any chance not - consider closing your eyes and *just listening* first. This music speaks directly to the heart.
One of my favorite songs of all time and i really love and enjoy watching the young people sing and the energy and the enthusiasm of the director! Love it well done young!❤
I love the way the NYC choir actually had one of their old block of flats in the background on the panoramic view.❤❤Proper NYC that and brilliant extremely good singing
I love coming back to this video, it is just so uplifting and everyone just has so much energy. Nick Kendall bouncing around in the background with the smile on his face is an added bonus and really tells a lot about the energy and atmosphere there!
These boys and girls seem to be having a lot of fun while singing this melodious song , your hardwork really pays off ! You all have lots of potential and you have a very unique power in your singing." Keep up the good work everyone 👏
I was 13 years old when I heard "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" for the first time. It was with a group called The Hounds and that song has stayed with me through the years and still remain in my head with text and only good memories with positive experiences. Funny that it lives on with so many.
It doesnt matter who you are or where you are or what your situation is, this makes you feel good. It restores my faith in humanity, good things do still happen 😊
I watch this every single time it appears in my feed!! I was a singing member decades ago! This beautiful piece of course was way after my time. What a thrill for every single person participating!
This sooo epic, I wish the crowd gave this more epicness than just folded hands and judgment... these folks are playing their heart out to some of the blockbuster tune. Come out to the west with your crew, and you WILL get the love you deserve!
I'm a choir member also.. and I love singing with my group... But you guys helps me realize that I should not stop singing no matter what happens ..keep it up guys .

Have you ever watched a colony of ants or a hive of bees?
wow that sounds so profound but is utter bollocks
@@jarodmorris4408 cute but they don't come close

Me too
You nailed it! "They join because they like to sing - they stay because they make a friend." - Francisco Nunez.
Thanks for watching!
Singing in a choir is a very special bonding experience!
I would do almost anything for the chance to sing in a chorus or choir again. They don’t really do that in rural Colorado
You have no idea unless you've experienced the joy of singing in a choir.
I loved the violinist enjoying himself
Yes! Easy to see that he "got lost" in the performance.
COMPOSER IS A GENIUS
This lot isn't
In a very dark time, this gives me hope for the future.

I loved watching the conductor ❤
truth
That guy is having THE best time huh? 😁
100%
Being a member of the Choir was one the most epic experiences in my life
gotta admit it should be a moment to be proud of...it great performance
Such a good version of an old song. Great to see young performers carry it off. Well done you. Be proud.
You were very lucky to be there :)
ya,ll rocked
tell us more, we want to hear what it was like, serious. It looked like it was so much fun.

Yes,yes,yes ❤❤❤
A great channeling of positive community energy.
Diversity on the same page, that is.
With a director and notes to sing in sync.
We need lead singers.
Diversity of everything, except thought
Sometimes, the urge to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is just a whim away...a whim away...a whim away...a whim away...
You... I see what you did and I love it!
I'm going to say that's incredibly funny,but it's just a Token gesture.
Especially in a concrete stairwell or parking garage!

Just crying with the pure joy of the song, music, singers... 💞💞💞💞
I'm old enough to remember this song in the early 60's on th Ed Sulivan Show and I sang along it is infectious!!!
we need more of this with the kids singing the voices absolutely marvelous love listening
I love watching younger people having so much fun at a song probably older than them, especially how diverse it is.
I was fortunate to experience Glenn Close at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles mid-1990s as Norma Desmond, I was blown away by her performance.

Awesome. This is what real music sounds like. More schools should challenge other schools...
Everyone struggling with depression and sadness in general should join a choir.
Alas, you haven’t heard me try to sing. I can sing this because I can switch to falsetto, and not sing the notes that I can’t sing.
Cant beat music, to lift your soul. Xx
Gorgeous young people enjoying the day and singing their hearts out. Made me smile...
The best version of the lion sleep tonight i' ve ever hear thank you and congratulations to you all ur are amazing ❤❤❤

This version of the classic ALWAYS brings a smile to my heart. Dunno who the guy with violin is, he represents the joy of the spirit of this song.
“You all sound fantastic!” Thakyou all for taking me back to my choir experiences as a schoolgirl……Love you all xxx

What a thrill it is to see young people putting in the effort to make beautiful music.
In the 60’s, when I was in high school marching band, we performed a half-time show using this melody. What fun it was!

How can you not love this? My parents in their eighties sang along.
Fabulous! It made my spirit soar.
We need more of this in America today. Many different cultures and nationalities to come together and bring joy to us all. Thank you!

Angelic voices 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
