      All improved, though I don't like the multi-color skewed pills (the skewed pills, though, were fabulous.)
      My challenge that I can see the difference, but I can't yet identify what's wrong in those originals, and find a fix. After 40 years in language arts and tech, it's tough being a design newbie.

    Hey man great video, but could you do something for business applications? I mean it's ok for landing pages etc, but in real job ppl work mostly with big tables, filters, forms - often with a lot of fields. I mean everything you show is great, but in business app it seems different

      yeah I was thinking that too. Many tututials are for single components of a page and for someone like me who just got into front-end after doing back-end NodeJS its a big problem. I am like not able to think creative and original and that's why I hope to work hard to have that creative muscle in my mind going : )

    Hey Gary, I want to pick up website UI/UX as a hobby and eventually (say 3-5 years from now) translate it into an extra skillset as a freelance fullstack developer. Currently working a full stack dev with focus on backend.
    Two questions:
    1.) What do you think are the major differences in mindset as a frontend dev and a designer?
    2.) What do you think is the most fun way to learn UX/UI and the theory behind (why stuff works etc)
    Thanks!

    I think original #2 looked better. Definite improvements in contrast and alignment but the complete do over with pastels just looks like a completely different idea. The original could be much better with only small updates.
    Just my opinion. New design was great, just too different for a comparison on the same idea.

    • @mikepotap
      @mikepotap 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you, because the goal of the 2nd page is to put emphasis on the text.
      And the remake does not work, because the attention of user moves to the background picture. It distracts user from the purpose of this page.

    I feel there’s very little (relevant) content in this video.
    The title suggests, that it will be about what makes a design boring and how to remedy that. But that’s not the case.
    While your introduction of different colors could be considered as remedy to a boring design, there’s not much more to take away, nor was it articulated as a viable strategy in the first place.
    Instead, the video is about good/bad design practices, just not about boring vs exciting. So, my issue is the title. Guess, I expected some sort of analysis or a deep dive. Well.., maybe next time.
    Btw, love the channel. Keep it up, and take care ;)

    • @DesignCourse
      @DesignCourse  4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      With these UI/UX Workshop videos, I can't title it as "UI/UX Workshop Episode 3" for example, because many people won't click on it, as they assume they may have watched it already. So, I try to average out the 3 revamps as much as possible to pick out an underlying theme to make the titles unique. For atleast 2 of them, I did make them more unique instead of cookie cutter, so I think it's a fair title. I also understand clickbait isn't a good thing, so I try to balance it out as much as possible.

    • @XlovedDesign
      @XlovedDesign 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DesignCourse Maybe the problem here is more the youtube system of ranking channels and videos. I've seen a lot of channels switching to a more clickbaiting thumbs and title to at least keep their audience. About the video, i've had the same feeling but the length of the video stoud out to me. I assumed before hand that the video was a marketing for a course or something (well, it kinda is of the workshop)

    • @gaminwithgc
      @gaminwithgc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@XlovedDesign calling this UX Design is 100% channel marketing. There's no way shape or form that what he did here is UX related at all. It's a huge problem I'm seeing across TH-cam. This was simply cleaning up some submitted sites using some design fundamentals and contemporary web design.

    • @BaronCorve
      @BaronCorve 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gaminwithgc In the last example, adding the search bar was clearly motivated by UX. He made the visiting users' main goal easier to achieve by including that task. The other two examples, since they were only visual changes, there is room for debate but you can speculate that the new designs would perform better (converting) than the original ones and confirm it by testing them, and with this scenario in mind, you can also say the other two are UX related.
