It's quite interesting. I've been to the grocery store as an Angel, A devil, a playboy bunny, a sixteenth century witch from Puritan times, a fairy, an elf, Medusa, Cleopatra and a French noblewoman from the time right before the Revolution. Oh, and dressed in a ball gown Scarlett O'Hara would've been happy to wear.
As a little girl I was a flower girl in a wedding and my mom designed (and had seen) a dress that looks like this for me to wear. I had my daughter ware it to a play and a princess brunch a high school did for charity. There are opportunities, even if there aren’t many, God bless. A charity tea for the women’s shelter is something most schools and churches would be willing to let you host there rent free.
There are some events that take place just like an actual 18th century ball and require you to wear these gowns and dance like they did back then, I would check it out!
That little jellyfish hop made me feel a connection and a kinship to women from centuries ago. I mean, they did the jellyfish hop to get the petticoat around properly, we do the jellyfish hop to get into jeans😂 Of course, women who would wear this type of dresses probably had help putting them on, even if we're talking family here, but still😊
Beautiful!!! The only thing is the method of lacing 😅 Stays are usually laced up on a spiral (tying one thread and looping one end through all of the holes); other than that it’s perfect and beautiful!
A Friend in College, worked her way through School as a Docent in Colonial Williamsburg, i still remember the day, in her third year, she got her Ball gown finished and delivered so she could start the Christmas showings of the Colonial Capital Building. Her favorite gig was the Raleigh Tavern😢😅.
There is just something so iconic about this silhouette even though I do love simpler fashions. This era was so creative, bold and I’m always amazed at the big hairstyles ❤️💖🌸
My OCD kicked in. When you were tighting up your corset, the lace looped and got stuck on the top of the corset. After seeing that all I could do is only trying to watch if you unlooped it. I watched through all the way until you got dressed fully. I watched it like 20 times and I can't see. Please tell me you unloopted and fixed it 😅😅😅😅 Ps. You look stunning❤❤❤
The bodice oddly enough looks quite comfortable and supportive. I wouldn’t wear it during the heat of the day of course, but at other times definitely.
I would love the corset. I suffer from scoliosis (constnt back pain) and I think it woukd help me with the pain. I also live these dresses, without the panniers 😊
Pretty! The only thing I’m confused about is how you can access the secret pocket under all that fabric? 😅
Each layer has a slit
All the different layers have a slit on the side. You’ve sometimes got to dig for it, but if everything is lined up you can definitely reach it.
@@thesewloartistohhh ok thank you so much for answering my question! ❤
Slits in all the layers above
@@thesewloartistwould people have put some kind of hook on the outside of the stays to keep the pocket aligned?
Do you ever just wanna put this on and go grocery shopping? I would!! 😅❤❤
I think I’d accidentally knock everything off the shelves 😅
@@thesewloartist you should do it
I'm planning on making a (historically accurate) American Civil War outfit to do ust this. Them hoopskirts are amazing.

@@michellewheatley2007 OMG YOUR AWESOME WHATT
Looks somewhere between a buttercream-frosted cupcake and a vintage chenille bedspread. Lovely! 💛
The smell that popped into my head reading this comment was incredible
😂😂😂😂 you nailed it
That looks so much better than so called high quality dresses of today. Also more comfortable and versatile.
I am addicted to these old dress videos.
I absolutely love this dress I wish it was still a thing. It’s so beautiful and classy ❤

Whoa I didn’t know there was a tool for the buttons!
Great button-hook action!
I would die to be born in the 18th century and wear one of these dresses at a gala or ball

@@ahok3314 that’s so cool thanks for letting me know!
You probably wouldn't have been born to wear that type of clothing dear. Or you would have died in infancy.
@@famprima that’s why I said to were to a gala or ball
And no bras!!!
What lovely construction!
When I say I want someone to take me dancing, this is the kind of thing I imagine wearing while doing it! 😄🥺💕

I would imagine that most women who wore these would've had assistance like younsaid, whether it be a female family member or a lady's maid.
I LOVE all of that! The sun buttons are adorable
The fact that you can dress yourself in these costumes is amazing!
It’s interesting how the pocket is intricately embroidered even though no one will see it.
It is more like a fancy purse that is kept under the skirt.
so beautiful and elegant would love to go back in time
I miss this style so much! I think it flatters women’s figures so beautifully ❤

Thank you, that was bugging me too! And I cannot imagine that tightening method being efficient for me personally when wearing a corset 😅

The sun buttons are gorgeous!
Looks just like Belle's dress! Wish they had picked something like this for the movie
Bridgerton has the best music! I love this dress. ❤
This is the first time I've seen a buttonhook being used in such a clear and visual way.
This song makes me feel so alive. Time to rewatch Bridgerton
The inspiration for every Disney princess gown ever.
The real sleeping beauty dress we never got in the live action version
It’s a beautiful dress! I love that buttery yellow color!
My favorite era of fashion!
You are so incredible 💗 I love watching your videos!!!!
That is far prettier that any of the formal "dresses" that are out there today.

Interesting experience!
I love the sac back gowns... you should have spun with it on to show it off!
This young lady is quite simply the most beautiful creature alive. I don't believe it's a filter or AI but she appears flawless. Simply anazing!
Lovely! I enjoy your channel.
