Just got my Mk2 and this is my first time using Lightburn. I am so grateful for your videos! This was a great first project. ❤️❤️❤️
Glad it was helpful!
I can't figure it out. very discouraging.
One thing you can do instead of deleting then redoing is just “hide” the layer you aren’t cutting! Thank you for this tutorial!! I’ve had my xtool D1 pro for a year now and while I’ve been able to use it, it’s been hard to use it consistently. Funny how these concise instructions have helped me understand what I need to do!! 💕
No, in current position, all items need to be deleted other than the one you're cutting otherwise the job origin will be wrong.
Thank you Rich! Awesome video, I watched it all the way to finish.
Thanks for watching Ron! 👍
I have been watching various videos on lightburn and i found yours most informative. Thank you,you will be my resource.
Great to hear Doreen, thanks!
Thank you so much Rich! This is so helpful!! Really appreciate you making this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Rich this video is great. I have been using my laser for several months and have learned many new things about the settings and lightburn. Keep up with these great informative videos.
Glad it was helpful Jay!
I just completed this project on my new Roly 20. So cool, thank you for helping so many of us !Greg
Glad to help Greg! 👍
I tried making another one with a picture and text inside the heart but it was backwards. Can you please help? Greg
You can post your question here Greg: facebook.com/groups/rolyofficial
Rich, thanks for the link. I've never needed Facebook It looks like I might have to join. Lol Greg
This is SO awesome. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you sooooo much! Bought my first laser (Ikear K1 Ultra) and was super intimidated. Your videos are of the best quality and packed with valuable info, but not overwhelming. I appreciate your step by step guides so much!! Totally gonna check out Lightburn College 😊
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
Great video for a newbie Rich! Probably the best I've seen. Thanks for clearing some things up. Thanks for the file as well.
I appreciate that, *thanks!*
Awesome video!! Thank you!!! All of your videos I always learn something new in each one. Thanks for all you do
You are so welcome Christy! 👍
I just did my first cut following your tutorial. It came out great! I could do it (thanks to you!!!)
Wonderful! You're welcome!
NO LINK FOR THE GLAZE ???? Loved the resulting heart. I sized it down and it was still great.
I could not find that Rust-Oleum in any nearby hardware store, and then found that there was no "link below" either.
The link is in the read me document in the ZIP file. This is a specialty item from Rust-Oleum and is not sold in stores: amzn.to/3SJtsL3
i love how he made this vid on valentines day cause to me that says that he loves his viewers and that means me lol i hope im able to put a logo / engrave on these anodized aluminum pens about 12 mm diameter ive never used a laser let alone a rotary but i feel more cofident watching your videos i have mono port 40w i believe
You can do it!
Thanks!! Do you have any recommendations for setttng on anodized aluminum? N for my particular machine ? Monport 40w co2
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy wow thanks for replying fast! lol n do yo have any suggested settings for anodized aluminum? for a Monport 40w co2 in particular
Ni, I sure don't.
Hi Rich thank you heaps mate it was very helpful. I’m just starting and this will help me big time.
Glad it helped Owen!
Thank you for the video!
My pleasure!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
So in this picture...how do you know if it's going to just trace around the image or fill it in?
Look at the trace lines in pink, and you can click, fade image to see better.
When cutting out this project I have several missing cuts in the pattern. The laser beam jumped 3/16" and started laser cutting again on several of the lines. Can I send you a picture?.
I am using the Spider X1S laser
Never mind I found the problem. I had the tabs section clicked on by mistake. Alot to learn
Glad you found it! Coincidentally, I am doing a video on tabs right now for tomorrow's video!
Hi! I'm brand new to this and the print on the manual, that I had to print I'd very small. I don't know to find the size of my laser. It's a QQ CASE from Amazon. Can you help?
It should be 410 x 410mm
I cant download the zip file...:( Im really enjoying your videos, very helpful. Really want to do this project as my first.
Right click on it and select, Save As.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy got it thanks!!
Hi Rich, new to Lightburn and Lasers. I have a Sculpfun S9 and trying to get my head around it and lightburn. A couple of quick questions. I’m more used to CNC using easel software. In CNC I’m used to setting up my workpiece dimensions before then adding carves or cuts. I don’t see a facility to do this in lightburn. Do i therefore just create a shape the dimensions of my workpiece and then use layers for the design element? Secondly, on one of your videos you mention that you use lightburn for CNC. How do you do this when there are no settings for bits etc - do you use a post processor and if so which one. Does lightburn do away with expensive CNC software eg Vectric and Carveco etc? Thanks for your videos they are a great resource to us newbies!
You can create the shape of your workpiece and put it on a tool layer. Then it won’t cut that shape out.
As @Forbes said, you can setup your workspace with tool paths that don't output to the laser. And what I referenced in my video when I said I used it for my CNC was doing a one-function 2D file. CNC machines with Grbl controllers can perform one-function tasks if you edit the Gcode.
Hi, just wanted to say that you are very thorough with your instructions for us "newbies" to the laser world and enjoy learning from your tutorials 👍. . . how did you set that Busy time countdown under the Laser tab? Thank you for sharing your time and tips with us!
The countdown is a standard feature in V 1.5 and above.
What's the advantage to pre painting the panels, seems to be unnecessary, just more to burn through, more toxic chemicals produced. I see a lot of people doing it and recommending it, I don't understand why it's being done?
Usually because there is some engraving involved. With the right machine and exhaust, there is nothing to worry about.
Hey, how come the guide lines are also considered as engraving objects when I group everything, resulting in the laser hitting the frame? Thanks in advance, regards, Careltje
The guidelines are tool paths, turn off framing for the guideline tool path.
Rich, Since installing 1.5.0 I get dotted lines that cross on the tip of my arrow and both dotted lines move with my mouse arrow.. How do I turn them on and off?
Go to the Gear icon and turn off Show full screen line cursor Carl.
Rich, when using current position, do you have to move the laser by hand or can you use the map icon and move the laser to where you want it? thanks
You can use the Map icon Steve.
Lori again, could you tell me how to make sure my laser is in the right home position. How do you move and resize your image?
I'm not familiar with this exact laser, but the origin should be bottom left.
Do you happen to have a video of how to make picture frames?
Yes Mario, on my livestream channel: th-cam.com/video/FmbLi7eUEpQ/w-d-xo.html
My download package keeps saying pending.
I don't know why. It's been downloaded 12K times.
Great video great information !
Glad you enjoyed it!
awesome video very helpful
Glad you think so!
This is an amazing way to do it. I will be suggesting this to first time users. Thanks Rich!
Excellent, thanks! I know a lot of folks have been asking for it.
Thanks! 🙏
You're welcome!
I've been following your videos and using LightBurn for 15 months and still have learned (and re-learned after forgetting!) some things from this video! Thank you Rich!
Great to hear Andy! Sometimes I have to rewatch them too when I forget how to do something! 🤪
Just got a Mecpow and am working on understanding Lightburn but it is going to take some time. There are two problems with your videos. It is sometimes impossible to follow the mouse to the desired selection on the side board and you don't always explain the key combinations to get the effect. The other problem revolves around watching your video and trying to do the same thing in LightBurn. You need another computer screen to watch the video and another to operate the LightBurn. I have tried to use a tablet but they are too small.
Having said this, your videos are FANTASTIC and I have learned so much from them. I will continue to follow you and may check in on your 4 person podcasts. I follow Steve and Richard also and you are all very generous in sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks... I think 🤪
Hey Rich! Currently watching this in the garage while I cut a pincecone light! Thanks for making all the great tutorials! Definitely helpful and appreciated.
Awesome! Thank you!
tyvm - always happy to see these newbie friendly guides !
Glad you liked it!
Just got my sculpfun S9 and would be lost without your videos. Well done you.
However I did manage to get the word hello burned as a test. But now can not get the laser to burn, it works across the board but just will not burn.
I feel it is something to do with the extension kit or limit switches. Also on the home feature it will not go the length of the 900 mm 0nly about 400 at a time. Have to keep pressing home. Knowing what I know now I feel the limit switches were not worth it. I guarantee it is something simple I am not doing. Any ideas ???
No, not simple Robert, and not easily explained in a text. Reach out to Sculpfun, they should have some written or video documentation on the extension kit. You have to edit the control board settings.
Hi Rich, great performance, super good explanations, i like it. thanx a lot. greetings from goode old germany. Uwe Zimmermann
Many thanks! 👍
Hi Rich. Thanks for all the great tutorials, you make something that could be really complicated easy to understand. For valentines I made my wife a clock following your heart clock guide, she loves it. (loads of brownie points for me) It is only my second project an even though it's not perfect I'm well chuffed with it. Once again Thanks.
You're very welcome Harry! Glad you earned some points! 👍
Nice! I didn't know once you started a multiple layer job you could move the current running job and get ready for the next layer. Very clear and precise.
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
You the MAN
Newbie here after watching your video 1051 times
I finally got it
thanks for all that you do
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
With your help, my son and I did the heart and arrow, I need to have graphics for making coasters.
There are tons of free art libraries on my free forums. lahobbyguy.com/bb
Great video...as always. Thanks
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
You've helped a lot, but I will have to re-watch. I hope you answer all my questions!
It's always good to watch a few times and follow along. I had a flood in the shop, so responding will be slow for the next week or so.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy sorry to hear that
great video rich.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much good vid.......be well and be safe😀💯
Thanks, you too!
