As an Irish fan based off of this year they might have a serious claim. People don’t realise that for the final u20 game against England France released several players from the top 14 and pro D2 back into their u20 squad, including tuilagi who played in the men’s six nations. England still beat them by 14 points in FRANCE.
England are not a joke this year. If that u20 six nations form translates we could all be in trouble.
So for me they’d be favourites then New Zealand(who won super rugby u20) and then I’d have Ireland, France and South Africa trailing behind in that order.

I'm French and it's possible for England to win it this year as many teams. France is below this year because some are playing tonight for the French rugby Top 14 final between Toulouse and Bordeaux. The others are in Argentina touring with the French national team.

Win a 6N thanks to Ireland failing to get a BP versus Italy and already they are getting ahead of themselves...England are very good and will be in the conversation of winning the tournament but they still have ALOT to prove before they can claim to be the best in the world.
They don’t claim to be the best. No one is getting a head of themselves. Ireland didn’t have to face a France side with apostolic Tuilangi and all their pros back in the squad in the six nations so I would say England are rightfully he best in the North at least.

They were probably the best team at the 6 nations but Ireland denied them of their grand slam. Irelands been better than them over the last 3 years and France has been better than everyone. Ireland also beat New Zealand and South Africa during the u20s word cup two years ago. This current Ireland team, particularly the pack have a few familiar faces in their squad and some massive boys in the pack. France, Ireland, England, South Africa, New Zealand in that order.

How have they been better over the last 3 years. Out of the last 4 six nations England have won 2 and Ireland have won two. They have been better for two years in a row but never more than that.

Mate U20 sides change every year, its age grade. What Ireland did two years ago is irrelevant in 2024
It's about irelands mentality and coaching and basically talent they generate compared to England and everyone else in six nations
Mate you also forgot that France u20 team in the 6 nations isn't the best they have because contrary to the URC or Premiership, the Top 14 and pro D2 don't stop during the 6 nations so when the best seniors are in the 6 nations the best U20 players are in their clubs for the long term French Championship

U20 Final between Ireland and France was one sided to France.
England did give them the toughest game in the semis and lead by 10 points at the end of the first half. Although Ireland vs England Group stage game that something special. 34 points tied.
Ireland won back to back grand slams and drew with England. If you think England is not only ahead of Ireland but by a clear margin, you need to re think.
Ireland beat South Africa well to England and couldn't then finish 4th for a reason.

If they’re a level above then why did it take Ireland until the 80th minute to scrape a draw with England in the 6N. And why did France get beaten at home?
England very rarely put teenagers in the senior squad. Ben Curry is the only one in the current squad who debuted under the age of 20. Prendegast is in for Ireland because they have no depth at 10 since sexton retired, and none of their 10s is close to world class. Prendegast could be in future though. Tuilagi is a genetic freak, needs no explaining.
Ireland still have never won the u20 world cup, SA only once and England 3 times... NZ historically are dominant in this tournament
