Beautiful Romo! How time passes us by! My ancestors were the original founders of La Grulla. The stories I could tell about the history of the Longoria's that you won't hear any where else! You should video tape the two story house in front of the church on the Y. That house belonged to my great grandmother, who, as the story goes, murdered a man and hid his body in the backyard of that house. The man was seeking revenge on one of her sons. Her sons were ruthless murderers in La Grulla.
@Myra Rodriguez Myra, Pedro Trevino Rodriguez was my husband, his parents were Bonifacio Rodriguez and Hercilia Trevino Rodríguez. He was b. 2.22.1945/ d. 5/06/2001 from cancer. He is buried at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mc Allen, Texas, as his mother, brother Raul near by. Both parents came from big families. I have the land grant that shows all families given porciónes of land. When we vacationed we always we would visit her. I loved listening to her stories of the families in La Grulla she was a seamstress. I remember young ladies coming to her house to get measured for their dresses. She was an amazing seamstress and she even taught me how to sew. Blessings to your family 👼🏻

@iammetx A TRUE MOTHER PROTECTING HER OWN. I THINK THAT IS A WHITE HOUSE NEXT TO THE RUELAS IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN WAS IT EVER ON SALE?I REMEMBER MY MOTHER TELLING ME SOME THING ABOUT THE FAMILY WHO LIVED THERE YEARS AGO....
My uncles, by the way, are know as Los Grullita's. Maybe you might know them. Los Grullita's are not the same as the ruthless killers of the 1800's. Those were my great uncles, and legend has it that our family was cursed by a warlock who was pursuing my great great great grandmother. The curse was that every 3rd generation male of the family would be born crazy and a killer. My great uncles were 3rd generation. Or so the story goes.

My grandparents were Longoria’s originally from Santa Maria but moved to Mercedes after the depression.
