    Recommend putting liquids into an ortho sprayer- I can’t get all the material out the ready-to-spray bottles.

      Yea you can do it that way also if you're having trouble with the ready to spray bottles.

    Love the grass and how its turning out. I'm just north of NYC and have started taking care of my grass last year after years of neglect and watching your videos, we have had a lot of the same issues and I'm learning by watching your videos and others. I put down lime in March last year and this year as well. In April I went to a store called Ewing Irrigation and purchased fertilzer with baracade which is a crab grass controller by a company called the Andersons. Around the same time you made this video I also put down the Grub Ex and then about 10 days back I applied the Bioadvanced Fugus control because I had issues with that last year and started getting it again this year. Next week I will put down the Disease Ex and then two week after that one more round of Bioadvanced to see if it does the trick and fully controls the fungus. Memorial day was the Milo application....last July I put down "Love your Soil" by Jonathan Green and also the Milo application but this year I am thinking about going with the Jonathan Green Summer fertilzer which also has insect control in it plus the love your soil, if you live near a Stew Leonard's I believe they sell the Jonathan Green products there if you want to give them a try. I don't know if I should do it this year but last year in late August I cut my grass low, took my thatch rake and raked out the debris out of the lawn, then put down Milo on Labor Day then overseeded the lawn around Sept. 20th, maybe a touch earlier and it felt like my lawn exploded in the spring because of it. Its process but its a fun process and binge wathing your videos has helped!

      You definitely sound like you're taking it serious and its paying off. Everything you described is right on point and the right steps taken to maintaining a healthy lawn. I started to take my lawn serious about 2 years ago after numerous failed attempts I finally got it together and it feels good looking at it and knowing I did lol. Its a since of pride and enjoyment when I look at the work put in and seeing the results. I hope you get that same feeling. Thanks you for your support and much success to you.

    • @steviem5279
      @steviem5279 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LawnAmateur thanks so much and you hit the nail on the head, when you do it yourself you get that sense of pride that what you are doing is actually showing results. I'm like you, just some average Joe who tries to do the best he can. You're a year ahead of me because I started last year, when I was a kid my dad used to work on the lawn all the time but over the past 10 year, I really stopped taking car of the lawn and it suffered big time. I started getting a ton of moss in the bare spots, grubs, ants, and all that junk. But, once I started taking care of it, I could see the lawn getting back to life and I was proud of it even it the lawn didn't look all that great, but this spring, it exploded like you couldn't believe. Its funny, the other day one both of my neighbors knocked on the door and then asked me what I'm doing and I try to explain it the best I can. Little by little, and things will start looking even better. Next year I will put the fungus control earlier as a preventative because I think this is something that I will have to deal with on my lawn all the time.
      Your videos help a ton and they are fun to watch and its great seeing your journey, this is all a fun hobby that's for sure but its a fun hobby that helps your house look even nicer too.

    Thanks for the informitive video. Subbed and liked as well. As for the Grub-Ex / Spectracide difference to my knowledge and experience Grub-Ex, as you clearly emphisized, breaks the cycle and is a preventive measure. Spectracide is an after the fact product so if you see grubs or grub damage it will kill the grubs quickly. On my lawn I only use Grub-Ex in the spring (Chicago area) and have never had to employ an after the fact solution because I've not had a problem. Skunks in my neighborhood will tell you if you have grubs by digging up your lawn and really causing extensive and expensive! damage. I do use the Spectride product however to control other unwanted issues like ticks, ants and other pests.

    Thanks for the video! I’ve wondered if this product would actually work on the mosquitoes! The skeeters(NC girl) love me! So I’ve not been able to enjoy my backyard. There’s some standing water outside of my fence that happens when we have a hard rain. I’ve recently began putting the mosquito dunks in those areas. Any other suggestions?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  ปีที่แล้ว

      No thats perfect what you're doing. Just keep treating the yard and the perimeter. Those dunks are great you want to break the cycle of the mosquitoes to start to eliminate them.

    How did the spectracide work for mosquito control?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It works very well at controlling and cutting down the population but it doesn't totally eliminate them. Its very hard to totally eliminate any outdoor bugs. But if you regularly treat the yard you'll see a big drop off in the mosquito population. Hope this helps 👍👍

    I have used Spectracide twice so far, but I’m still seeing insects throughout my lawn. I use the hose spray version shown in your video once every 30 days, but I’m not seeing any changes. What am I doing wrong? Should I alternate between the granular and liquid versions?

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can definitely alternate between the two. But you won't be able to kill all bugs some bugs will just keep coming back but this will definitely attack the nuisance bugs like ticks and fleas and some ants

    Can overseed with fescue into Bermuda I'm in cali

    • @LawnAmateur
      @LawnAmateur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you and that is going to be hard to do if you already have Bermuda grass. Bermuda grass is a very dominant grass type and it may choke out the fescue. Plus fescue grass is a cool season grass type so it also depends what part of cali you live in whether the fescue will survive. Type in "Grass transition zone" in Google and look at the map that'll let you know everywhere cool season grass can grow. Hope this helps 👍👍
