Great interview! His insights into both the publishing industry, which I worked in early on) along with most important, ,his marketing insights based on Ecuadorean society and culture in various areas of the country were very helpful.

Hi guys. Great video as always. I liked what Ed had to say. It's exciting to know that expats can actually have a business in Ecuador! It got me to thinking; that if Ed can start a magazine...could I start an expat radio station (of course anyone, locals, as well as expats can listen) I searched for the expat type of radio station in Cuenca. But didn't see one listed. Hope to see you two in person on the 3rd of Nov.
    Chao for now.

Sounds like a good idea. A radio station where expats can get a space to share their experiences, advice, musical tastes, etc. I've been living here in Cuenca for one year and I've listened only one show in english at Antena Uno 90.5 station, on weekends, but I'm not sure it's the only one. Keep up with that idea!

Jacks Meditation hi Jack. I have been following this thread about launching a radio show for expats. I had this idea in Costa Rica but the community I lived in was made up of Ticos and I could not make headway with the idea.
I was a programmer on public radio here in California for 10 yrs. I would love to pow wow and be involved in something like this. BTW my radio show was called Radio Rama and I played mostly Cuban and Latin based music. My email is davelipkind@gmail.com to communicate further

Great interview, Amelia. Ed is a great resource, and I will be a reader when I arrive in 2020. Do you know if it's possible (as in legal and allowed) for an expat to sell crafts (jewelry, stones) in any sort of weekly Cuenca market?

there looms a theme, I'm hearing about it in a lot of ex-pat videos..and it's disappointing, very sad to hear how so many ex-pats there don't bother to even TRY to learn the local Spanish..they want to move there, take advantage of the benefits but want nothing to do with the people, even though they have planned to make it their home..seems really disrespectful..not JP & Amelia but they and others seem to know a LOT of people who also know a LOT of *other* people this has been told about...an as far as North Americans go: we already have had a cr@ppy reputation, for decades re: how awful we are when we travel and/or live abroad...something I saw proof of first hand when I've traveled.😐

Hi again. Thanks for the red heart. It means a lot to me. Yes,
. I had 15yrs as a radio broadcaster-DJ, before I went on to a different profession. What camed to mind is Internet radio. Not tower and transmitter. All that I would need, is a sound proof room, an awesome microphone, and certain equipment to broardcast over the internet (available to anyone who wants to start an internet station...for a reasonable setup price) I-N-R is becoming very popular now.
