The work here is astounding the planning involved the on the fly changes and extra bits involved if things don't look like they supposed to.
I have worked with many orthopedic surgeons. Every one will pull everything out and start over if they don't like what the xray shows. They are the most meticulous of surgeons. They have to be.

One operation had horrible result and needs to be redone. Another resulting in almost-acceptable outcome, but still has a clear bunion. If this method gets the job done well, I don't care how "minimally invasive" it is. I just want it done right the first time. No offense to you surgeons out there, but apparently it's difficult to find a surgeon who gets it done right the first try. My point is, if the tool delivers better final outcome, please use it!

Friends, keep in mind that some things today and more invasive and worse than old school! Over 30 years ago, I had pretty bad hammer toes. My doctor used regular toe pads and tape to painlessly straighten my toes. Today? They use stab incisions to cut the tendons of the toes. Watching that procedure and hearing that "crunch" as the health tendons are being cut to release the toes was horrific!! Horrible!!

They cut the metatars 1 take out a piece and then pull back the haluce but the bunion remains as it was ! With osteotome the joint is distroyed....
