I always freeze whipping cream in silicone muffin cups. Great for adding to soups etc. Once they’re frozen solid I pop the pucks out and throw them in a freezer bag. Pre-measured and always available (we don’t keep whipping cream on hand typically).
I thought about doing it that way, and then decided just to use the container. I should do that for future recipes because I"m like you, I don't keep heavy cream on hand a lot. And it's so pricey now!
Some people might find it odd but I have found anytime I get stew meat it is always big enough pieces I can at least cut it in half maybe even more and it makes it go a lot farther and saves money.
My 79-year-old mom is staying with me for a week, and as she’s watching your videos with me, she keeps saying, “I like this lady.” 😊 She said watching you takes her back to being a SAHM and cooking all the meals, and makes her miss it a little.
Chili, of any kind, shepherds pie, and homemade sloppy joes are my favorite easy cook once go to's. Oh AND the beef and broccoli sauce from Mandy in the Making (or any probably any others). 😋
I've discovered that you don't have to cook the ground beef ahead-of-time if you don't want to if it's going to be used in a slow cooker because it cooks plenty well over the 4-8 hours. Saves a step! Still a personal preference, though.
Music to my ears! I'm definitely going to do that. My crock-pot does not have a browning option, so I have always cooked it in another pan ~ adding to the chore of dish washing.
Thankyou so very much for sharing this. These days we are all looking for healthy, reasonably priced meals. The crockpot makes it so easy when everyone has such busy lives these days.
Agree. My husband works for a dairy and often brings home free cream that is close to expiration. I either make butter with it or freeze it in smaller containers for later use.
You can freeze cream and even milk! I found that out accidentally but now I keep extra milk in the freezer to have on hand because we live 25 minutes from any grocery stores.
This was an awesome video, please do more of these.I especially appreciated meals that did not rely on heavy amounts of cheese or cream cheese as our family includes members that really have to avoid lactose. Have a great week.
Good to know! I’m glad to hear it’s probably gonna work. When I’ve tried it in the past, it has separated so much, but I haven’t tried it with something as high fat content as whipping cream.
You might have done this off camera, but I usually write the cooking directions and any needed additions on the freezer bag in Sharpie. It’s very helpful when in a hurry.
(Posting as Joyce) Thank you for this video. I am looking forward to trying the recipe with hamburger meat and rice. Different subject, I have seen you use whipped cream cheese on tortillas to make sandwiches. I recently tried this, and I really like it! I just also used it to make quesadillas, and I liked it. Thank you for all the helpful ideas, tips and recipes!!! 😊
Love these freezer meals ideas. It works well for me to freezer dairy / almond milk in ice cube trays that have a lid, then put the amount needed in it's own little ziplock bag inside the freezer meal bag. It's also a great way to save milk that's close to its expiration date.
I found Wildgrain because of you and now I'm hooked! I actually get the bigger box now and you're right, the croissants are AMAZING. My favorite items are the Belgian waffles, the demi baguettes, the pretzel rolls and the chocolate chips cookies.
I've gotten the demi baguettes, too, and they're just the right size for one meal for my family. The chocolate chip cookies were so good! My husband said they were amazing, especially a la mode fresh out of the oven. :)
Thank you Mindy such good ideas. I'm tech savvy...but I was looking for the recipe when made some sweet with the oatmeal packs...trying to use what I have and think outside the box. Tyfs😎💙💙.
All these look delicious. Definitely can freeze dairy with head room to expand. Question: is there any reason why you don’t cook a double batch all at once and freeze half after it’s already cooked to just reheat later? I guess rice and noodles can get a little mushy warming the second time through. Thanks!
sounds yummy - a “tomato free recipe” so I gotta try this - any chance you can link to video where you make your own cream soup - I’d rather add tin of mushrooms - but need help with the cream soup base - THNX - not familiar with Rice Roni - can I just use basmati rice - thnx again 🇨🇦🙏
Yes, you can try it with plain wild rice or basmati. You might need to add more seasoning though since the seasoning packets are in the box mix. Maybe some onion powder, garlic powder, salt, chicken bouillon.
Where are the printed recipes for this video? When I click on the link in the description, I am not brought to these specific recipes, but rather to the websites page....
I like a couple of these but I rather write on boxes and cans of what they go with instead of putting it in the freezer. It's a reminder for all to not touch them unless they are making that meal.
She did not say that it was authentic..she simply called it by the name of the recipe in the magazine..always a critic..goulash...check your spelling...I will be the grammar police..
I don't always have printables posted for every video. You're welcome to jot things down or take screen shots when I'm posting ingredients. I'm working on a way to offer more printables and PDF summaries to my viewers via a membership.

@@kristinanoall ah, I love that! My mom was just here visiting, too, and she also 79. :)
I've frozen whipping cream and used it as normal once thawed. No problem!
Was going to say the same - My Mom used to buy it and freeze when on sale to use at the holidays.
Cook once, eat twice is my favorite recipe 😂
THANK YOU! I've been searching for more, "cook once, eat twice" recipes to stock my freezer without meal prepping in one sitting!

You don't have to but I like to because if you put ground beef in a slow cooker raw it gets gummy. That is just my personal preference though.
Plus the grease 😮
Thank You. What I love about this video is I saw the list of ingredients where it's shown instead of just telling and showing how to cook it

When you thaw the cream just shake it up and it will be fine. I freeze dairy all the time.

Thank you for including options to reduce sodium! It's so hard to find easy meals that can work on a lower sodium diet.
You can freeze cream and even milk! I found that out accidentally but now I keep extra milk in the freezer to have on hand because we live 25 minutes from any grocery stores.
Thank You So Much for adding the suggestions/directions for reducing sodium in these recipes!!
Add mushrooms to your Hungarian goulash to bulk up the beef for your family
Can you freeze uncooked mushrooms?
@@SAN563-bq2tjYes. I do all the time
@@SAN563-bq2tj Yes, you can. I freeze them all the time. It is especially helpful when I freeze pizza toppings ~ mushrooms are always included.
I made that ground beef and rice casserole and it was delicious.
I'm always excited when I see you post a new video! Another good one, thank you.
Thanks so much!

I freeze heavy cream all the time . Even if you’re going to whip up the cream for a desert it works just fine after being defrosted .
Good to know! I’m glad to hear it’s probably gonna work. When I’ve tried it in the past, it has separated so much, but I haven’t tried it with something as high fat content as whipping cream.
I forgot about boxed rice! I don't always want to commit to buying a whole bag of the whole grain stuff. Great tips as usual!
Love this idea of two meals at a time and putting everything you need into the freezer bag. Thanks, Mindy!
You might have done this off camera, but I usually write the cooking directions and any needed additions on the freezer bag in Sharpie. It’s very helpful when in a hurry.
Thanks for this time saver. I’m going to split one recipe in to two. Just two in our household.
Do you have the recipes where we can print them?
No, I don't always have printables. I'm working on a way to make those available more often via a membership.

What a great idea! Going to try the chowder recipe. 😊

I freeze that same container of whipping cream. It works. I hate to waste. Thanks for the video!
Good to know it works, thank you!
Awesome video, thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️
These are great recipes. I will have to keep an eye out now next time I go to the Dollar Store for the magazine's. I never think to look there.
These all look delicious!
Thank you!

Thank you for another great video. I gotta add these to our meal plan.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I just made hamburger soup. Filling and tasty.

I just think the 2nd batch tastes better this way. It's just personal preference.
Oh man! Don't forget to cover your bbq in rain, rust 😎

Good video
Finally an authentic hungarian goulash like my German mom made. Not the American ized chili mac people try to pass off.
cool
Freezer crockpot…..now we’re talking. That’s my kind of dinner.
I know, right? Me, too. I'm glad I made a few extra for the freezer because I've wished I had those in recent busy weeks, and now I do! :)

Does Wildgrain have gluten free options?
Yes, I believe they do, but double check the website. :)
Don’t forget to write instructions on your freezer bags! …jus sayin 😂😅😜
She included a copy of the recipe in the bag 😊
@ I saw that☺️. I just need reminding to add the water or whatever, or things I will do different like time or moisture levels, or more or less salt.
😅hmmm my half Hungarian grandma would cry .. this is not gulash!!!

I like ur vids.. But on a lot of ur dinner recipes u don't let us know how it tasted 😢
Yikes!! When did stew meat cost over $6 for a pound!??!
umm you didnt cook once to eat twice. You prepped raw stuff in a bag that will still have to be cooked.
The recipes look good, but that's neither hungarian or goulash... 🙂
So true
She didn't say that it was authentic..she obtained the recipe out of the magazine and that was what the author named the dish
