@@kalentho2137 Like what, cause this isn't the first time faceit gave bans on exploits, there were two different no smoke bugs and you got banned for both. Not to mention that this is a MASSIVE bug, like there is no difference between this and external cheats, except that this requires less work to do. Not to mention that anyone with half of a brain knew what the consequences can be.
They own the service so they are the judge. simple as that. They could have tried it in premire or compe and they chose the one place they need to be a pro

I used to deal with cheaters every day in premier until I joined faceit. Not one time did I intentionally use an exploit or cheat, even when enemy team was cheating.
Especially when you're representing an entire organization, you can't go around cheating. It's like any other job, you will get fired if you do things against their code of conduct.
No, in any other job u would likely get multiple warnings before being laid off for something as "unprofessional behaviour yesterday". Actually rediculous punishment for these players. It's a faceit match, nothing on the line except abit of Elo. And yes it can ruin the other players' experiences of that one game, while also influencing the viewers of the stream to a certain degree. However, it was not in a professional setting, there was nothing on the line, it was an exploit in the game that Valve should claim 100% responsibility for and NOT ban anyone who used it.

I'm sure there are other examples of unprofessional behaviour in which NOTHING except bad publicity happened to the players. And those exploits were worse than the current case as they were utilized on a professional stage.
At MOST these people in the current case should have been given a warning and had to publicly apologize via a tweet or whatever. Like any other professional in sports getting caught up in a minor scandal.

The organization chooses to pay players to play cs for them, so they especially have a responsibility to be a clean player.
I agree with Pimp here. Just because something is available, doesn’t mean you should use it. 2 years is harsh for sure. Maybe a reduction of elo and 2-3 month suspension would be more appropriate.
However, cheating/exploiting is inexcusable in any capacity. There’s consequences to your actions.
Console command or third party, if you’re abusing something to gain an unfair advantage, there’s bound to be a consequence. People make mistakes and this is how we learn. Hopefully faceit reconsiders the length but they do deserve some form of punishment.

faceit banned people for soundmixers.txt drama, literally text file which you were always able to edit, valve did nothing, FACEIT=2years ban without any information about it beeing bannable, after biggest ytbers videos making milions of views just a twitter post and ban, pathetic.
Now on the other hand a glitch that let you see through walls and have insane advantage just like REAL cheats, totally deserved ban

@@newlife12 if its automatically on your screen and you dont need to access the console and type a code then yes it would be valves fault. This is not the case. Yea Valve messed up and a bug caused it but like i said, if you are playing at that level (on a pro team) then you should have some damn sense

At the end of the day they had a choice to type a code to enable cheats and they did it. They knew better. They deserved the ban, go cry.

It was available to use and that’s valves fault, but those who used it knew what the command did and still chose to use it. They decided to cheat even if it was one game or round. 2 years may be long but now maybe people will think before they act.

Faceit close qeues almost every day because of minor server issues, this exact exploit was used by pretty much everyone during the limited test on faceit matches and nothing happened to them but when a massive bug comes out, they give no warning against using it, don't close server queues and then give 2 year bans, some of which ruined careers, come on. Put on an announcement on the faceit app saying not to use it or close the queues, if its used after that then its fair game to ban for 2 years.
It's totally fine cause it's a known rule to not use any way of exploits, if it's from other software or if it's a game command build in, it's listed as a cheat command, doesn't matter if sv_cheats is broken in any way, u shouldn't use it, simple as that. He could try if it works on a casual or mm match but if he decide to do it on faceit or other leagues matches then it's a bad idea to do this. No question.
Still way too hard a punishment compared to previous cases of exploitation in cs:go or minor scandals in general within sports.

Agree with Pimp here faceit had rules there were in place and they applied it. You made your choice to use it in faceit. It's your own mistake and you pay for it.
I think the disconnect of FaceIT and CS is the root of all problems.
All the csgo content is cheaters and in game bugs right now, of course people want to see the exploits themselves, you just have to be smarter than to try it in a faceit game. You can use it in a random deathmatch or private server with bots, but just not an actual game to get an advantage and it would be fine

ohne is having the worst take I've ever seen. "Yeah they just tried it out!" Why in a high-elo faceit match? Why not in a server with bots? Why when you are in an academy team? E-Sport players should know that their job requires absolute 100% competetive integrity and if they cannot live up to that standard, they should be punished.
Not to mention that Faceit specifically warned of abusing the exploit with a big yellow banner on their client and in their TOS it says that such exploit abuse gets you a 2 year ban. And then they still use it. Ridiculous

Why would you "test" such things in a competitive match, and especially on faceit. Just dumb. Lame excuses here. You should be more careful especially if your career is based on CS.
This being used in comp is good for the game because it gets fixed faster. It's up to the devs to make a playable game that isn't broken. Players finding exploits will always happen (i.e olof triple boost, one ways etc.) it's up to the dev to react to exploits by fixing it. Also console commands have been a thing people used for awhile (clear decals, jump binds, left hand viewmodel etc)myself included and it's never been a problem even though those can give you an advantage.

the thing is both arguments are valid. ofcourse valve should not let an exploit like this slip but the players know very well what they were doing and should get punished. the 2 years ban is ridiculus only because this was available in the console. if the guys were downloading cheats and saying '' oh i was just seeing what this was and if it works'' then they should have been permabanned

Its in the game, either ban the console command or dont. People like you will see someone suddenly bugging out and getting a kill but continuing the round and call them a cheater lmao
@@Malignantt1 none of those are exploits. This wallhack exploit straight up gave you a competitive edge when you can literally see opponents through walls like any third party cheat would. "It's in the game" doesn't mean anything, when the command behaves in a way it's not supposed to, and you can't get access to the command unless you literally saw the posts of people showing the exploit. It's directly comparable to someone going online and downloading a cheat config.

Why would a person who wants to become pro "test it out" in a faceit match? And faceit rules are 2 years ban for cheating. That' it. Not the same. The incentive behind downloading a cheat-software and exploiting a bug within the game is very different in nature as the first is a bannable offense no questions asked, while the other is part of the game. Both valve and Faceit should have been aware of the exploit relatively quickly to its discovery, yet Faceit made no attempt to discourage people from utilizing this "feature of the game", even though they close matchmaking queues due to minor server issues on a daily basis. Additionally, the exploit was available to anyone, hence, shouldn't rly be termed "an unfair advantage".
No, utilizing an exploit is not the same as cheating (as no rules were broken). yes, it is an ethical grey-zone. yes, they should not have done it. But this punishment is just ridiculous.
Plenty other examples of exploits that were not punished including:
Monesy (I believe) window smoke bug on mirage - was agreed upon amongst professionals mid tournament that it would not be used if I remember correctly.
Cloud 9 aderal scandal. not considered doping but it's certainly a performance enhancing drug. After the scandal rules concerning performance enhancing drugs were implementing in the pro scene. A bit of bad publicity was all the cloud 9 squad had to deal with as a result.
Olofmeister boost. Obviously exploiting a boost that should not have been possible to get almost complete map control and completely turn the match to win in a semi final during a tier one tournament.
Monesy movement commands that are now banned in professional tournaments. No punishment for utilizing commands giving an "unfair advantage".

It 100% matters how you did it. That can be a big thing to show your intentions. If you booted up the game, not knowing about the cheat, then you scroll on twitter after you die and see this command and you try it out, that is HUGELY different compared to someone that went on the internet, did research where to find a cheat. In some cases they even pay money sometimes 100s of dollars for a monthly subscription.
Personally, if someone bought a cheat I think they should be perma banned. But if you used some silly console command one time in a throwaway match against cheaters then that should be a month ban minimum maybe even less if the admin confirms the other team were in fact cheating first blatantly beyond reasonable doubt.

The console has been a good tool in the past: lefty viewmodel, clear decals, viewmodel size. These offer an advantage in game. It's up to valve to make sure the only enable-able commands are benign, but they fucked that up and people abusing it is good for the game because it forces valve to fix it in a timely manner
The line: when the command gives you an unfair advantage over the opposition. Seeing people through smokes even by 5% is too much imo.
then certain graphics settings would be banned, in csgo especially there were graphics that could give you a huge advantage over enemies in smokes, flashed molly in front of you etc, 2 years is way too much considering its the same punishment that someone injecting an actual cheat would get especially considering they could have put an announcement on the faceit app and didnt.

Crazy reaction by people honestly. This punishment is way too hard. They did not deserve to lose their careers due to briefly trying an exploit. There's been plenty worse exploits in the pro scene before, none of which resulted in anything but abit of bad publicity mostly.
olof boosting on overpass is similar to this, and fnatic was allowed to do so and only forfeited their win due to public backlash like this. i like exploits, they give a game character to some degree. one day of an out of map glitch or something isnt the end of the world. it will get patched and everyone will move on.

To everyone saying it's cheating, the definition of cheating is "cheating in video games involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay' This clearly is not the case, as every player in the lobby has access to the same commands regardless of whether they are using them or not. That's like saying that player A is cheating since he bought a better gun than player B, but player B has the possibility to buy that better gun and is just not using it. I understand Facit is a private company that can apply their own rules, but getting themselves kicked out of eternal fire is ridiculous.

Using THIS console command was the equivalent of injecting, just more "available", although I'd probably get the same result, if I looked for some free cheat.

Faceit has been ruining pro careers for years now. Did you know that every season has a cheating team in the playoffs in almost every level? Faceit will never ban them, even if it's blatant cheating in demo view. They argue that if they admit their anti-cheat doesn't work, then the service they provide has no value. So if the anti-cheat didn't catch anything, no ones cheating according to faceit. Imagine all the dreams shattered because of hackers in faceit playoffs.
