I really Love the colour theme!!
Its easier to ripp paper out from the middle of each signature. Its also healthier for the book
Thank you. Yea I have learned that and many other things since this old video. It’s probably time retire this one and record an updated version ☺️
Every one of your clever people I watch on this topic, always give great wee tips! I love the idea of sewing to create perforations! Cool. Gonna use that.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found a useful tip. 🥰
The cover is gorgeous!!😮❤
Thank you Celie! Seeing this makes me want to go paint a book cover...thanks for the reminder. 🥰
💯 This would have to be the most helpful altered book tutorial I've watched thus far, and I've watch many!! I'm so glad to have found your channel. TFS 🙌💐
Welcome Natasha! Thank you for your sweet comment 🥰. I'm so glad you found this helpful.
@@dearnatashaneilson same here she takes a lot of time to explain! Very helpful!
I have just started doing altered books and this was so helpful with lots of ideas and tips I've now subscribed and will be watching more 😊
Awesome! Thank you! I haven't posted anything new in awhile...life keeps happening...hopefully some new creativity soon. 🥰
I love your style
Thank you so much Amy. I appreciate your comment.
Thanks Sherri for sharing how you worked on your altered book, just what I was looking for.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Glad it was helpful!
I'm your 1K upvote! 😊
Wow! Thank you! That's a blast from the past. ❤️
@heartandsoulfuldesign I don't know why that kind of thing always tickles me so much, but it does. Whether I'm the 100th, 700th, bazillionth - Ü - doesn't matter, I find it intriguing for some reason. I love your work, by the way. I've got those opal paints in my shopping cart at Amazon, lol! Can hardly wait to try them. Liquitex had similar products years ago, but their bottles were too large for practical purposes.
Thank you it tickles me too. I try not to pay much attention to analytics because I truly do this for fun and to freely share with anyone who wishes to tune in. 🥰
I 🩷 this journal. You do such an amazing job and inspire me to get to my craft room and start a project!! Thank you for your videos! I'm glad I found you! I love your style!❤
Welcome Jamie! Thank you so much. I think you'll find I love many different styles so I hope you continue to enjoy my channel. Happy Creating! ❤️
Phenomenal I love this! Great job! I'm new to you.
Welcome to my channel! Thank you for saying hello. I'm glad you enjoyed this blast from the past.
@@heartandsoulfuldesign btw I'm from Mississippi!
wonderful video. Thank you for sharing your ideas and your creativity. Gave me lots of ideas to include in my journal
Thank you! I happy to hear you’ve found inspiration 🥰
Hi Sherri - I've just happened on your videos as I'm learning gelli printing but love mixed media, too. You've been so helpful in explaining things that others don't, like how the layering works and the colours show - maybe because you say you're learning too - so thank you!! ❤
These book covers are beautiful and you have inspired me to finally start my own art journal cover 😊
I also wanted to point out that the link to your shop is missing the 'l' from soulful so needs adding for it to work 🧡
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found this helpful. Thank you for pointing out the omission. I'll make sure to correct it. ❤️
@@heartandsoulfuldesign yes, I don't want you to miss out on sales! 😊🧡
I love that tag punch
Yes....one of my favorite tools. Thank you. ❤️
This cover is stunning
(because I’m nosy, first Readers Digest condensed books: spring 1950)
Id use a sanding block or file on that stiff burlap.
A nice fine pair of tweezers helps to get those bits out after tearing out the pages.
Hi there. This is an oldie but goodie...I have figured out quite a few things since this journal and always appreciate tips and tricks. ☺️
LOVED IT !!!TU
Thank you for watching this oldie but goodie! 🥰
Great video! Beautiful journal!! Thank you!! ❤ 👏🏻🙌🏻
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting. 🥰
I recently acquired a stack of old books, some of them Readers Digest books with the pretty covers. I’m going to try some of the techniques you shared in this video. Thanks!
I just love the old Reader's Digest covers for their patterns. Have fun creating! ❤️❤️
Thanks for all the good info.
You are most welcome. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🥰
I vow to complete an altered book in 2021!
Good luck! I hope you'll share when you do.
Checkup!
Loved your ideas. Thank you
Hi Juanita. You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. 🥰
Please do your journal collections just some glimpse 😍
That might be a fun video...I'll work on it. ❤️
Nice video! Wondering what kind of wide black tape is that?
Thank you. If you look down in the description there's a list of materials. That is black gaffer's tape. 🥰
Just subscribed, have been looking to make my own journal to actually journal in.
Thank you for subscribing! I hoping you find some inspiration for your project. ❤️
I am enjoying your videos! I started with the oldest and am working my way back to now. So good! How do you put the lines on the back of the cards?
Hi Denise! Thank you for watching and starting at the beginning of my journey. I hope you enjoy my progress. Way back then I didn't have very many supplies at all and I started out making the lines with a pen and ruler. I liked using a sepia colored pen for a vintage look. Then I made a stamp out of recycled corrugated cardboard and you'll see that in a video. Then I started tea and coffee dying lined papers and gluing those to the backs of cards. And then once I got into creating my own digitals I would create some designs with lines to use on the backs of cards. I guess you could say I've evolved. 🥰
I love ❤️ it !!
Thank you!
Love the stamped words on the front and back cover. Where did you get them, I can't find any?
Thank you so much! That's a project that was a commission but if I remember correctly, those words were created using a stencil and not a stamp. I used texture paste with the stencil to create the raised effect. I am away from the studio where I have that stencil so I will try to remember to check next week when I'm back to see if I can identify the stencil I used. 🥰
@@heartandsoulfuldesign thank you so much!
Use Tyvek tape also, from Lowe’s.
Hi there! Yes I've been given this advice and will definitely being trying it out next time...I do appreciate all the tips! Hope you check out some of my newer videos in case you can help there too. ❤️
Is there a tutorial on how you made this cover and decorated it? I would like to follow along
I don't have a video on this particular cover. I was asked to make a journal for a friend and used this book that I had already painted. I was pretty new to all this at that time and not comfortable crafting on camera at that point. Since then I had been asked several times to show how I do these from the beginning so there is a series that I started that is still not finished. It started as just a how I paint these covers video but I've gone ahead and filmed the whole process start to finish making an altered book. Here's a link to that playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLLZLDkP8ZTq2CKYDoLQR8k4AokkyVoCzQ.html
I'm working on another series at the moment but will get back to this one again soon. I sort of bounce around doing lots of different projects for variety. 🥰
