I meant to bleep out the derogatory word and missed it. My apologies to our younger viewers.
Awesome explanation and presentation. This complete new to me, but also very interesting.
the FIsh was in the House roll it, nice job team
Thanks Fish!
I don't know what was going on with my autofocus but I will use a different camera next time...lol
What camera are you using?
@@matthewdouglas2373 DJI Osmo pocket 3. It is looking for faces. So next time I will put it in afs mode or product showcase mode. Or as stated my big camera.
Great video! I'm with you, I thought that air compressor was going to blow those tires right out and across the shop!😂
Being my age I should know too much lube is just enough! lol More vaseline next time.
That's really cool and cheap way to replace wheels. With the moulds could you make a flexible one to help popping out.
That's what we were thinking. Make the mold from tpu next time.
I thought about making speed run tires for the tamiya lol
@@TeamJunkYardDog They would be durable.
Excellent! Lol. Great video love it. Just thinking of applications I might use it for. 👍🏾
Speed run challenge wheels! I am going to try it I think.
You may consider trying a "spray can of mold release" to mist the forms/molds before the pour..could work very well for your purpose but the spray may get on other stuff on your work bench.. so you may need to spray release agent outside of shop? then pour inside.
I will likely order some. I couldn't wait lol
When I was making fiberglass and wood composite recurves and longbows I used to use turtle wax on my forms, then overlay with Saran wrap or very thin clear plastic..never had a bow stick to the form..I would have well over $100 of materials on each glue up.. I was looking at making some tires too. The Ohio guys next to me at the Tallahassee fights had some impressive tires on their bots.@@TeamJunkYardDog
@@robertrussell6324 I thought about turtle was but didn't have any. We may start making all our wheels.
I am also thinking about it. My problem is staying under 454 grams. I guess I can make some and see how they compare to aluminum wheels and foam tires. It's fun to experiment with materials... We all have a box of stuff that didn't work out...
neat!
May try this for speed run tires.
Did you sand the inside of the mold a little bit? I ask because the ridges from a 3d FDM will act against you when trying to demold. I have experienced this. The rubber gets stuck between the layer lines even with mold release. Vasoline works with some better than others, some need mold release spray to work well. Im not sure why but sometimes it works great and other resins simply need certain mold release chemicals to work properly.. over all, you did good! The first time you do things is always the best learning experience. Very few people get it exactly correct on the first try so don't feel bad. The fact that you have usable parts is a huge win.. keep it up!
Wow thanks! We are goinf to try a tpu mold next with finer print lines to reduce layer lines.
Very cool. What material did you use to print the mold itself? I've tried the Team Panic method for rtv silicon wheels for fairyweights so far with good results. Definitely going to try this if I can find something equivalent to that Vytaflex.
We used pla but will use tpu for the next one.
Really cool! Hopefully it works out for you guys because they do look very cool as compared to the others you were using.
Thanks! We will update everyone on how they did. Our next comp is Aug 17th!
@@TeamJunkYardDog yeah unfortunately we are not going to make that next one but we are working hard to get our bots working again to join you guys later this year.
@@AQucsaiJr What is your bots name?
@@TeamJunkYardDog My kids are Combat Bro-Botics… Pushy & Destroyer
@@AQucsaiJr That is who I thought but going off your youtube channel I had no clues lol We are dropping the scalar kit. I am building a new Tyrone to be a scalar killer I hope. We are also bringing back one of our original ants Gumbo!
I just tried vytaflex for the first time a couple of weeks ago and silicone molds are the way to go, it doesn't stick to silicone at all and prints pop right out. Alumilite amazing mold maker cures in 30 mins would highly recommend.
Thanks so much for the Info!
