    Awesome!
I didn't understand the casparian strip part in the Raven biology of plants and this video really Helped me. Thanks!

Same dude! I couldn't understand it in the my primary textbook so I refered to Raven Johnson and to my surprise I still couldn't get the perfect grasp of it. This video is fab.

    Hello ma'am,
Thank you for this great video and being so kind to the students by explaining everything so beautifully.
    QUERY-
At 5.45, you said that water enters the root through diffusion. This has confused me as in the texts we follow, it says that water enters the root through osmosis.
Request you to please clear this doubt.
    Thank you.

This definitely cleared a lot of my doubts, thank you so much for it 😄. But one of doubts remain that
Why do Passage Cells(non-suberinised) exist in endodermis? Wouldn't it disrupt the whole process?
Water can reach the space between Cell Wall and Membrane, via Apoplast pathway, of Passage cells.

Could you please explain how the casparian strip protects the plant against pathogens? Thanks

    • @yumnamukhtar366

Okay so what's happening is that, In the apoplast pathway, the water only has to cross cell wall, and then from one cell wall to the other it travels, until it reaches the casparian strip. Cell wall is permeable, so it will allow, all pathogens, ions, minerals and nutrients through (basically the cell wall, has no guards to control what can or can not enter). But casparian strip forces the water to pass a semi-permeable membrane, which is the cell membrane located inner to the cell wall. The cell membrane can control what enters the cell, so if it detects pathogens, or any harmful ions, those will not be allowed to enter and eventually diffuse out of the cell wall. Hope that helped :)

Might be a stupid question but why does water never travel around the outside of the casparian strip?
