Beautiful! This is pretty much identical to my first car. My brother ordered it new. He wanted a Pontiac GTO, but at that time all GTO configurations were high risk insurance. He found that the Chevelle SS with the 400 big block (402) and automatic transmission was not high risk insurance. I bought it from him before I turned 16 and took my driving test in it. Mine had the true cowl induction hood with the vacuum operated door at the rear of the hood lump.
I bought a beautiful black on black (with classy pearl white pinstripes) '72 SS with a beefed 396 that never lost a (late night, freeway) road race. I left a friend of mine behind racing against his newly rebuilt custom 1969 Chevelle, with an vette LT-1 350 he'd recently invested over ten grand into, in 1984. His speedo went to 140, and the big block left him behind, after 130... This is a seriously fast machine. Especially on the top end. Wish the heck I still had one. (But where would I drive it???)

Seriously? We're going to quibble over a .030 overbore? It's still the same 396 in every other way.

Ugly rims should have put rally's or as rims with the black on them
