I see guys get their braid cut all the time down there and they act like it’s normal to just lose a hundred yards of line every once in a while lol

Opened up my Tranx 401 after 4 years of saltwater use as was starting to seize on me. The main gear had some corrosion in it. Dirty grease all over the drag and bearings. The AR Clutch was rusted. I went ahead and replaced clutch, bearings, dragwashers with some grease and oil and she was good as new! The design was really easy to work with.

I got sand in mine this past fall and took it apart for the first time. Had a little corrosion on the gear and bearings, but after a good cleaning, it was perfect again. I’ve put that thing through the wringer too

I’ve always enjoyed the bait casters more than the spin reels. But have swapped most of my stuff to spins since most use them at the beach.

I'm going to purchae a Dobyns 807 and was debating on the Tranx 400 as a dedicated swim bait setup. i just don't know if I'm going to go with the HG 7.6.1 or the slower version...thanks for the review!

It is an awesome reel and I still have had zero issues. The 300 is an awesome reel too with good line capacity and comes with a regular double paddle handle which you might like more for swim baits 👍

@@thecedarridgechronicles i currently have many curado 300s and love them, i just though that i would try a TRANX, i really don't need the line capacity, but i like a wider spool (old school). if i go with the HG, i plan on switching the handle to a paddle handle. i just worry that the the HG may be to fast for some of the larger glide swim baits...your thoughts?

@@1960fusion I like the speed for big spoons and heavy metals in the surf, but it's not hard to adapt to a slow pace either. I throw as much topwater as I do metals and I don't think you would mind the speed at all and sometimes it might even come in handy. I have thrown big umbrella rigs with it and I do like being able to crank way slower when fighting those big baits cast after cast. Saves you a little work from all the cranking. With a full spool on the 400 the spool is so big around the line comes off very flat and I can cast further than any baitcaster I've ever owned and without backlashing.

@@thecedarridgechronicles i agree, i always buy the fastest speed available and never had a problem slowing down my retrieve...the HG it is, thanks for you comments!

Same for me I grew up bass fishing and now into jetty fishing, I just bought one of these and has a 7:6.1 ratio ,, will this have enough torque for a bull red ? , great video by the way.

Absolutely. I have landed 4 blacktips with it now while spoon fishing for reds, and have been amazed at the power it has. This will be my 4th year with it, and the only thing I recommend is taking it apart and cleaning it once a year if after being in saltwater. It isn't a fully sealed real, and mine gets submerged a lot in the surf, but I've kept it cleaned and oiled and it still performs exactly like it did new. You won't be disappointed 👍

Poor video. You don't even show a close up of the reel, what it looks like cant even see it, or show features
