      @@mariahcrites534 of course, I’m using the zinc core size 51-32-18 and if it’s to big the next size down is 44-36-18 and 44-24-18 I like them all, they work great with most of my oils, minus the mushrooming 😩

    Zinc core wicks are super underrated. They burn cooler which makes for a more efficient burn cycle. I'm inclined to think that wicks like premier wicks and other wicks with a cotton core are so popular because they are so forgiving. It's not hard to dial it in when they burn so hot they rarely get mushrooming. It's easy to pat yourself on the back when the wick burns like the sun and wax and fo funnels up the wick so fast and burns so hot, but really it's overkill. Zinc takes more finesse and easily one of the harder wicks to work with but, in my experience, the best. I use an all natural beeswax and coconut blend by the way.

    Great video! Do you think the Amber Noir is from CS too? I'm surprised it's so good at 6006. I have been using it on 464 wax and it has a very weak HT but is still a customer favorite

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was definitely the lesser of the two HT. I was fine but I agree overall Amber noir is pretty week in general.

    • @anwaarcandleco5054
      @anwaarcandleco5054 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, this is a custom blend , mix of a few different oils from CS, not the original Amber Noir scent that they carry. I always loved that name

    • @Aroma-xk1mt
      @Aroma-xk1mt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackTieBarn Thank you! I think CS's Amber Noir smells identical to Voluspa's Baltic Amber, which smells great but doesn't have a good HT either. In case you're wondering, Voluspa uses a coconut wax blend. So I guess, I must accept that it is a weak fragrance lol

    due to cost i was wondering if the wooden wics on amazon will work ? thanks for your time

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have but to be honest.... its a touch area. Whether we like it or not, The Wooden Wick Co has a patent in the U.S. on wooden wicks now so most of what you are buying is actually made by them. OR.... you can get in a sticky situation potentially. So personally... when I'm using wooden wicks, I just go to the source now. Not ideal, but its the world we live in currently. Lol.
      By the way, thanks for subbing and being here! :) 😀

      no problem! thank you for all your information you give. looking forward to more videos.
      could i bother you one more time? if im testing wicks using wickless method, how long after pour do i have to wait untill i can add my first wick and start testing?

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jtrevino349 Of course, no bother! As far as wickless testing you would want to wait like you want a standard candle to start testing. You can add wick whenever you want, but Id test the same time after pouring you would a regular candle. Depends on the wax, but anywhere between a couple days and up to a week or 2.
      But... I'm not a fan of wickless testing for several reasons. Ill link a video below where I talk about this. It doesn't mean you can't, just not something I generally recommend. Hope it helps!
