I'm new to sewing and this video has just helped me no end. Thanks for making it so clear.
You are so welcome Alex! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
This is a great technique, Colleen. I think I will apply this on a new table runner. It's amazing the different effects you get from the crosswise and lengthwise fraying. Thanks
Annie
It should be fine. You can stabilise the look by adding a row of small stitching above the frayed edge.
I love it Colleen. I only wonder what happens once it's washed...
Thanks Annie.
Thank you, this was a great tutorial!

No problem.

Very Professional Video. Just what I needed. Thank you.
L Scott Butler Thank you.
Thank you ... this is what I was looking for !!
No problem Blanca Mason Thank you for commenting.🙂
My pleasure.
Any tips for doing this with fine silk?
No, I have not tried this on silk.
Good morning Colleen, does this same method work for high thread count Egyptian cotton?
The technique should work, along as it is a heavy weight cotton. The effect maybe more fuzzy than the result in my video. But worth giving it ago and good luck!
@@colleenglea thanks 🙏🏾
what is the fabric that it's fraying so easily? thank you
A loosely woven tweed is good for this technique.
I still don't understand crosswise vs lengthwise. I have a piece of woven? fabric, and the 2 cut edges fray really easily during wash. Isn't lengthwise grain supposed to stay in place?
It depends on the type, and even the quality of fabric. What type of fabric are you working with?
How do finish it so the edges don’t continue to pull apart?
Stitch a few millimetres above the fraying.
@@colleenglea just a straight stitch?
Yes!@@larrymarket9658
Thanks!
No problem!
What fabric was used in this tutorial? Would it work with a plain-weave poly-cotton?
+Ashleigh Workman This techniques works better on medium to heavy loosely woven fabrics.
@@colleenglea Do you think it would work on a polyviscose tartan fabric?
Looking for how to directions on how to make a frayed bias trim
What type of fabric did you use in this video?
Most fabrics fray, but loosely woven fabrics are the best choice for this technique, such as cottons, linens and denim fray. I hope that helps Nina.
Colleen G Lea - FSBTV thanks, Colleen! But what type of fabric did you specifically use in the video? I love the look of it and would like to copy using this fabric. Thanks!
@@ninamaggio6236 It's remnant that I picked up years ago that I used for testing techniques.
AWESOME! Thanks :))
Thank you for commenting Michal A. Kessler.
Easy way, thanks
thumbs up to this video
❤
Thankyou!
Does this work with chiffon an organza
As the fabrics are very fine, it won't work brilliantly.
