Hello Rahdo, Merry Christmas and may you and your family may have a lovely 2019 full of joy! Rahdo, as soon as you can, please, could you upload in the video description the 2 player variant you have used in the gameplay? Thank you! 👍🏻
I am about to play. What has changed for two players since you reviewed this? The variant set up i am following places six 'no go' zones on the map and dummy third player is the same as what you are doing. Was there a fix for the gov? I read something about dummy player going into the outbound zone. No clear doc in the bgg files section.
dag2pt, i have no idea why stupid youtube won't let me reply directly to you, but to answer your question, i talked about that very thing in the final thoughts :)
Great walkthrough as always! I noticed at 32:20 you took the space to draw 2 gun cubes, but didn't actually take them. So you're 2 guns down on what you should have when you finish in Plymouth.
I think it could be improved. It's pretty complicated but in a bit of an inane way. But I won't go into the improvements which could be made as someone might steal them. I am planning on marketing my Drake game.
+rahdo i searched the forum on bgg but couldn't find the file. Any idea where i can find that file you show on your laptop at the beginning of the video
+Marco Hoehener that was one the designer sent me. my understanding is they intended to release it as a standalone thing, but i'm not sure they ever did. here's the original varaint thread that it was based on though: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1035134/2-player-variant-endorsed-designer :)
Did you use the expansions? The user on BGG commented that it would tighten the game further. Has Peter Hawes officially released the variant to the public?
he will be releasing it very shortly. i do think that the spanish revent expansion could go a long way towards tightening up the spanish main, though not in a way that emulates the fun of the 4 or 5 player game. it would just make it tougher to accomplish anything, whereas what you really want are the head games of players trying to go to the same spaces because there's limited spots to go...
Have you and Jen ever played Neuland? It seems like the kind of strategic game you guys would like but it also can get quite aggressive. Just wondering...
we played it once and didn't particuarily enjoy it, though in all honesty i can't remember why now. was a few years ago, and it doesn't really stick out in our memory at all i'm afraid...
Why not always put the gov last so that there is a race to get to him (or have is backside up so he doesn't exists)? Would that be better to get back some 3 player tension?
Yeah... Sid Meier needs to make a new Pirates! game. Thanks for the fun walkthrough!

during the Plymouth shopping, I kept thinking, "Imaginary Jen! Stop being so conservative!!!" haha. Fun walkthrough.

tbh i'm not sure... you can probably get the answer on the boardgamegeek forums for the game
Puerto RIco gave the worst beating to Drake when he tried to conquer it. :)
At 39:10, shouldn't the dummy player be second place and Jen being the last player? Because he was the first to pass.

Try adding a plus symbol in front of the person's name.
"I grabbed the Queen" (12:05) Uhoh... :-) As always, very enjoyable to watch, thanks for sharing!
