    Glad I found this video. This year my theme is big witch and I thought about doing the exact same things --a dock, the dock roped posts, the hanging t lights etc …amazing to see how you’ve done it, gives me some great inspiration !

    Great haunt!! I saw last years video and was impressed then. The additions this year make it much better. I do a haunt mostly with skeletons, graveyard an axeworthy ghost and a lightning machine. The neighborhood likes my display. I’m going to try a swamp haunt next year. And thanks to you/your haunt I have the inspiration. I’m in Delaware. Where are you located? Would love to see your display in person.

    Looks great! You don't need any chiller for the fog? I'm over near Savannah and hot fog doesn't look good until it starts to cool off, maybe 9 PM, but running it through a box of ice makes it super creepy as soon as you turn it on. I've got a corner of my yard where a swamp might work real well, so I'm taking notes!

      So it all depends on the look you are going for. Lasers don't like thick fog, it blocks the laser light from crossing the area essentially killing the effect. You will end up with large unlit areas with the laser hitting the first patch of thick fog and going no further. For a laser swamp you want more of a light fog / haze effect. You can use a haze machine & haze fluid or a fog machine with less dense fog. If you are trying to get that rolling across the ground effect and aren't concerned with the laser effect, a good fog from froggies or a chiller box is the way to go.

      @@HolyCityHauntersso usually, wind is the death of fog (or any air movement). Given that the laser effect works better with thinner fog, do you feel that a dense fog, broken up by a little air movement may still work?
      I live in an area that tends to have a light breeze (usually). I plan on doing a slight air dam in the yard to help block some breeze for the height I'd like the fog to be, but would really hate to realize this isn't at all possible for me.

    Looks great! I’m in Texas and planning to use store bought Spanish moss this year. Is your moss natural or store bought? If store bought, do you do anything to prepare it for the display?

    • @HolyCityHaunters
      @HolyCityHaunters  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both actually. But the moss that was used on the dock was store brought since it was already dried (for gluing). No preparation was needed, but we did use spray adhesive to make it stay where we wanted it. I believe a light dusting of a lime green and brown spray paint was added just to make it pop more at night.

    I hear you talk about Bog Fog from froggys fog saying it was too thick. Have you heard of swamp juice from them? Ive used that in my haunts and its amazing, its very thin meaning lasers might pass through but the hang time is like an hour just with a few burst of it.

      I have, and have used it. If you go to our Instagram and look at the Midnight Mass haunt (video coming soon), you can see it there. It is a good juice and you can use it for the same effect. The only issue we ran into with it is the settings on our fog machine. At a constant low output and no breeze there were times that it did fill the scene with a dense fog that made it hard to see. Personally... we liked it but it made it hard for people to take photos causing us to shut off the machine for a bit for it to clear out. Keep in mind our scene is blocked on 3 sides so it is probably a different situation to most. That said, in a normal setting.. I think it will work great also and a most of the time it added a fantastic haze to that scene. We are huge fans of their products.

    Can you get the swamp effect with other lights besides lasers? Like green LEDs or flood lights? Really cool video

    • @HolyCityHaunters
      @HolyCityHaunters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really.. you need the laser to be able to essentially cut through the fog.. what gives it the water effect, otherwise it's just lit fog.

      We don't. We decided to focus on just the witch living out in the bayou.

    Could a small fan be used near window to create 'movement' of the curtains?

    • @HolyCityHaunters
      @HolyCityHaunters  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely could. Usually in October here there is always a breeze if not borderline windy so it is usually moving just from that.

    Where did you get your sound fx from? My ambience sounds are weak compared to yours.

      You can never go wrong with large speakers, if you feel it's overkill it's probably just right. We use a Boo-tunes unit hooked up to two speaker units hidden behind the facade but flanking it on each side, using the wall material to bounce the audio around the scene. During Halloween you can basically use whatever you want that you think fits the scene. What we use in the videos can be different. Perfect example is with the Midnight Mass haunt.. set up it played audio from score but for publishing purposes we use something just put together in audio editing software.
