In 1990, I was at Camp Lejeune and I was in a record store. This album was playing on the system in the store and I told the girl "Who the hell is this!" and she handed me their tape. Too bad they didn't get more airplay. They would have really made it. Blues/Rock = Awesome Kick Ass!
My first knowledge of Junkyard was when I was bored one day back in '89 or '90 watching MTV, when their "Hollywood" song blew me away...I was like "I don't care if the song is just a one-hit wonder, I HAVE to have the album this song is on!" So I went to the nearest record store, bought it, and was amazed that it was FULL of "hits", and one quite humorous talking about doing "the Woody Allen thing" in the song "Get Your Hands Off My Throat"🤣🤣 (Hands Off) "Shot in The Dark" is my other favorite along with "Texas". Damn good Rock-n-Roll. Yet one more SERIOUSLY underrated album and group. Even the song BLOOZE should have someone like George Thorogood saying to them "Uh, would you like ME to hold your beer while you do a seriously hard rocking song about drinking to excess?" Junkyard:. "You're holding it ALREADY George."
Came for Brian Baker, stayed around for the band. Saw them twice in 1989 (Cat Club NYC, and somewhere on L.I.). Nasty in all the best ways. The band was right on the edge of breaking it big. The dark, deadly tsunami called grunge washed that hope away. So glad they're still at it. God Bless Junkyard.
They're still arnd??!! Man..I missed the boat...maybe saw them in 80s-90s..I don't remember a lot from back then😛😛 Any good albums I missed? I've got the 1st..+ 6 7 +9's...I need MORE!! Suggestions welcome !
I saw this tour way back in 1989 in Anaheim. a club called The Bandstand. and I remember that across the freeway I can see the MLB stadium where the Angels played. I was from N.y on vacation! I didn't know the area! I was 23. and the best Times! this brings me back. Junkyard forever!! The original 5!
Saw this band at cadallics bar in hickory nc , the opening act was the black crowes , both bands came out and done beer drinkers and hell raisers by zz top. Black crowes were getting booed at , couple months later crowes are opening up for robert plant.
I think I saw the same tour in Anaheim, thought the black crowes were saying they were the black gloves. A couple months later they were all over the radio
🎵"so I tried to be understandin kinda Woody Allen character about whole thing while she's cryin sayin _David, he, he really just listens_ and I said ___" ..😁🤘!!
This is incredible footage! Sounds like it was recorded yesterday, and they put on a great show. About 6 months before this, me and my buddy went to the record store. I got this tape, and my buddy got Dangerous Toys. We jammed to both a lot, and both of us ended up buying the other tape too. Never got to see Junkyard live, but hoping to someday.
When I think of Junkyard, I think of Dangerous Toys. I was into both of those great bands at the same time. I always thought Junkyard was a Texas band. The lyric "coming straight outa Austin..." kind of put me on that line of thinking. Guess I was wrong. L.A. is the place.
MISERY LOVES COMPANY👍 on 89 setlist/released 91 2nd album. musta known it was a gem! I told DAVID personally at Viper Room show (albeit inebriated) how much song meant to me; helped pull me outta heartache to see the REALITY it was. There's WISDOM in dem thar lyrics! 🤘. Bought TWO copies of their new album they were sellin. Happy to see they're still out there. JUNKYARD Sixes, Sevens and Nines album along with ironically JET BOY'S SECOND record Damned Nation were super glued to my Kenwood Pullout 😁. Man.. seeing double bill with those two would be KILLER! ... there are new rock bands today but they just lack that quality of the songwriting "J and J" have. (*if Jetboy played more Damned Nation tracks, unfortunately they don't seem to do so from shows I've found on TH-cam). ...think I'll crack open some Modelos 🍻 and crank me a "J&J 4x4" of.. HOLLYWOOD, MISERY LOVES COMPANY, CLEAN THE DIRT, HANDS OFF, STOMP IT DOWN TO THE BRICKS, BULL FROG POND, TROUBLE COMES and I'M A ROCK N' ROLLER! 🤘
I saw this Show at 1st Ave..in mpls..With the Black Crowes opening had a couple beers with David and Patrick...told the 1st ave dude i needed a job app..they let me in ..never did fill that app out.Good Times
@@mikemc5221yea as if grunge had an once of originality. That’s why it hit big in ‘92 and was over by ‘95 and was replaced by more weird ass music like limp biscuit, korn and????. Then that was also over with at the end of the 90’s because people wanted fun kick ass rock n roll that they can actually relate to and escape everyday bullshit drama. Enter the 80’s rock n roll again and it hasn’t left. 😂😂😂😂😂 I love it when a plan comes together 🤘🏽

Back when bands rocked and the women were cool as hell. We will never see rock bands like this again.
so true. music sucks today compared to then. Junkyard was great then and still are now.
