I don't know why people here are criticizing this so much. The whole idea of Coke Studio is to present such classics in a different way. Otherwise they would end up making yet another similar version, lacking the creativity and aura that Coke Studio brings along.

I feel proud for my Pakistani brothers and sisters who are consciously enduring to keep the essence of the music intact, which In India we might have LOST and made very materialistic and fame-driven; rather than exploring the outer boundaries of music and keeping the traditions alive.

I have seen this lately that people start criticizing the song from the moment it releases. The thing is these songs are not your normal pop songs which you would fully understand easily in one go. They have depth and layers which can't be covered in one attempt. It takes time to fully understand the journey a song goes through. the unexpected pauses she takes after Dama Dam and the unbelievably synchronised piece of music that is fit in these pauses (esp from the drummer) have given the song a whole new meaning. Yes it's different from the original track. But this different is truly beautiful. Give it a few more listens before criticising.
