Head to head with Tamiya. Tamiya has done a recent A6M3 and A6M5 and both are ... Tamiya. (There's a 1/32 scale Tamiya A6M2 if you can find it.) The real surprise is the 1970s 1/48 Tamiya A6M2. I built this kit as a Kamikaze - weathered the devil out of it. From five feet away it's remarkable - it has that lovely Zero fuselage down perfectly. Excellent fit, low part count, $16. The best beginner kit I know of. The 70s floatplane version (Rufe) is also great. I know Eduard has come a long way, but I've still never done one of their kits without a proper scare. Might be worth the experiment - especially if the Weekend Edition comes out - I just don't have the need for PE cockpits. Modelers that build for the camera might though.
The Zero and the Wildcat were my first (modelling)-love. I was inspired by a game for the Commodore Amiga called "Battlehawks 1942" made by Lucasfilm Games back in 1990. I must have been 11 years old and the game inspired me to buy my very first model: F4F Wildcat followed by a Zero. Good times!
Obviously a well researched kit, history of each plane and history of the 12/7/41 attack that shows the color photo of USS Arizona from the proper perspective, so many show this picture backwards. Well done.
The model is fantastic and I have it on my queue. Just a historical side note that may be of interest. After having read many historical books on Pearl Harbor attack and the war in the Pacific, it's well documented that "Climb Mt. Niitaka" was the real or actual code words to proceed with the attack and not Tora Tora Tora. Adm. Isoroku Yamamoto proposed Dec. 7 as attack day. It would be a Sunday, and the American fleet was sure to be in. Japan's attack force was ready. Yamamoto gave at-sea command to Vice Adm. Chuichi Nagumo, who chose the carrier Akagi as his flagship. In mid-November, the ships of the Rising Sun set out in sorties from the Sea of Japan. They hid in clouds and thick fog and kept strict radio silence. On Dec. 2, the strike force neared Hawaii. From Japan, Yamamoto broadcast his order: Niitaka yama nobore 1208, translated is “Climb Mount Niitaka.” By prearrangement, it meant: "Proceed with attack." The "1208" designated Dec. 8, the attack date across the international date line in Japan.
if it is in 1/48 it would be huge xD I wanted a Tomcat in 1/32 but decided for a 1/48 and even that thing is HUGE i mean the 1/48 Tomcat is as big as my 1/32 scale F-16C Falcon.
It would be cool if they made a kit based off of the movie "TORA TORA TORA" As I recall all of the "Zeros" in the movie were actually AT-6 Texans with a few alterations and a paint job.....
I love their Profi Packs but these Dual packs are so cool. I'm hoping they do a Hellcat and P-47 version of this kit soon. You can't beat these kits with all the PE and finer details at this price point.
Who's plastic is this? Eduard usually reboxes plastic so not sure if it's theirs or a rebox. Just curious. Update: NM, I see Eduard stamped on the sprues. Incredible looking kit. Eduard is and has been a top tier company and it's good to see them continuing that. I haven't checked prices, but another thing I like about Eduard is they, at least in the past, were stupid when it came to prices. Pricing is certainly becoming an issue for this hobby so keeping prices down, yet quality up is always going to be something I focus on.
@nytia117 This is a thing I do not understand to be honest. Just sell us independent stands like Bandai does for gundams. I broke enough landingears in my life to just not bother with them anymore, and making nice-looking display stands is more annoying than making the entire model.
I just finished this kit and I really recommend it! Great fit and everything you need is in the box!
Wow. Just placed an order with you. I'm a big fan of Eduard kits and I am sure this one will be amazing.

Looks like the perfect excuse for a flight deck diorama, if 1/48 naval figures are available.
It is. Just find someone who 3D prints.

Very cool...now they need to do a "Final Countdown" duo kit. 😁

I’ll be visiting your store in June when I visit my son who’s stationed in Tucson!!!
Wow, for the 1/48 scale very nice details .
Nice kit Andy, see you Saturday! Joe
Beautifull Model, thank you very much 👌 👍
The kit actually comes with 12 marking options. The other 4 are illustrated on the other side of the box.
Amazing! I wanna get this kit myself
This was at my model shop a couple days ago, wish I got it now...
You can go full circle... Eduard is planing 1/350 USS Arizona
When you guys build these - do you do one at a time - learn from the first one.. or try to do both at the same time?

Vultee Valiants were used as Vals.
At least one of those "Zero's" was still flying as of 2018. I saw it "attack" the Liberty ship "John Brown" I was on off Baltimore harbor.
Damn I love how the pe parts are already coloured.

Nice kit
Awesome kit
Nice kit. I still wonder why ( if there is a reason.) the Japanese Navy chose Black cowlings and gray bodies. ?
Please build LVT 4 Bufallo coz i really love this beast! Great thanks
Not my scale, but nevertless an astounding kit, perfect for a diorama
I just got this kit and know I m going to start building it
Nice kit! Would love to see a pair of Black Sheep birdcage Corsair’s to compliment this!
Do you deliver to Australia?
The kit was released in December? Was it December 7th by any chance?
😜
My apologies this comment is 100% off topic. Do you know where i can find a Medium Girder Bridge (MGB) model. Thank you.

I'm surprised there's no resin parts supplied in the kit.
Eduard are releasing a host of Brassin parts for these planes.
@@theplasticsurgeon1956 I kind of was expecting that with the absence of resin from the special edition set. Thanks
Why why why did they not include a double display stand
Cause They're STUPID ?? 🤔🤔
Because 99.9 % of aircraft modelers don’t use display stands. How hard would it be just make one if that’s your thing ?
Why stupid i like to have mine in flying position like an aircraft supposed to be nothing stupid about it
@@nytia117 oh really and where do you get those figures from eh

Is this new Eduard tooling or is it a reboxed Hasagawa kit? Doesn’t matter, just curious. I know they’ve reboxed Hasagawa in the past.
I think it’s new tooling
Yes all new
This looks so good
Does this come with pilots?
Wow 👌
Random question. Why were the Japanese aircraft markings not in Japanese characters but in Western lettering?
If only they would do this for the Thunderbolt.
Must have.
Dang it, now I have to get four kits.
Dont u just hate when that happens..... haha 👍👍
Btw, "tora" is the japanese word for "tiger" 🙂
Made in Czech republic 👍
Wonder why this kits are so pupular while their decals are worse than utter junk.
Hate and love watching your previews, the same second the video is finished, I start looking for the kits and becoming poor
