There's fabric under the toe holes. It's probably better to flick, scratch, etc. the excess with a toothpick of some other tool that won't puncture the fabric or stretch the toe holes out.

Ive never done this or own a pair of painted shoes like this But i know just out of common sense that it wont last. That paint is sitting on top of tbe colour of the leather, so when you scratch it, the leather colour will cone through. Also rain n water will damage the paint.
i think customs are even better than the originals because they have more personality. if i have some heratiges and i turn them into chicagos or something then that has more worth for me instead of just buying a chicago cause i put work into it
