@@na3811 which isnt his main thing. the thing with 1v1's is it ain't for everyody. And, as B has shown on the YT scene he's one of, if not, the best floor generals in 5's. 1's is a smaller aspect of the bigger game of basketball.
shot selection and defense. Im not going to be one of those dudes that say hes just not built for 1s cause thats just a excuse. Anybody can come up short and then say "oh i dont really play 1s fr". Thats weak af.
B Ellis plays so freely when he is playing 1s, against his boys, in open gym. When he gets in these highly competitive games, it's as if he plays very timid. He misses shots that he normally makes, he gets off to very cold starts and he doesn't fully get into his bag. He made a come back in this one but again, too little, too late. Defensively, there was nothing he can do to stop Kam from getting to where he wanted. I f*ck with him but the 1s may not be his thing, and that's ok. He literally only won against Will Tunein, the second time they played. Every other game has been an L.
Yeah I think it’s comfortability. If you watch his old videos with him playing at his old school he was different different. He’ll continue to do better with the bigger crowds in 1s, but he’s definitely a 5v5 real bball player. I agree with you though

Ngl all of what you was talking got nothing to do with it except that he cant guard Kam. Hes too athletic for him and he cant contest his shot. Idk about that playing freely or getting timid with comp stuff. The energy was there and he played fine. His shot selection is just ass. As soon as Nas said he dont have to take the 3 i knew he was taking the 3 - and he missed the whole rim. His problem has always been guarding and shot selection.

I understand if the defense is giving you the space to shoot then by all means yes... but if the shot isn't Fallin gang you also you have opportunities to allow your game to open up when you keep attacking. B Ellis doesn’t have enough in his 💼 to get to his pull up. Then he holds the ball for a second or two too long at the peak of his shot. Easy to challenge it. Needs to create space more often with his handle and speed up his release. Then, he’ll really be a problem.
It’s tough to alter your release, but I think he would be able to if he committed himself. Also, he seems to react a bit late on defense.

Its so interesting hearing how much B. Ellis respects Westbrook how that is his favorite player. Because I feel that sometimes he shares the same weaknesses. I feel he rushes into matchups with too much on his mind in these competitions in the 1v1 scene. Once things slow down and he gets more 1s under his belt. B Ellis biggest problem in majority of his 1v1s is he actually gets warm or gets going too late in a short game to 15 it’s going to be hard to overcome an 8 point deficit Imma keep rooting for him tho

B Ellis is not a 1v1 player sorry to say this cause I'm from Louisiana and I be rooting for him but he play like he always in his own head second guessing himself. If you notice for a lot of his 1's games he puts himself in a hole when constantly settles for his jumper that don't be hitting at that point when he can literally make some moves towards the paint and get an easier bucket or a foul call to reset but he doesn't do that and start forcing three balls that don't be hitting.
I agree he in his head too much. I dont know about him not being a 1s player tho. He just overthinks and settles too much when he’s outside his gym. I saw a comment that said he needs a trainer and i agree. He may have a basketball mind but a trainer that would help him with read and react as well as shot selection would change his game fr

Back up enough to where he can’t blow by u, Send him left , don’t bite on the Hezi , gap him on the pull-up.

B.Ellis is a deep thinker with high basketball iq , while that’s awesome and all, I think it’s actually detrimental to him being successful at 1s , especially when performing in front of a crowd of people….. He is out there over analyzing everything he does before he does it instead of playing on instinct in my opinion …. He needs to loosen up, play freely and get out of his own head…. Needs to cut down on that triple threat jab 3 and attack the basket more , and when he attacks the basket he needs to strategically seek out contact with his defender to knock them out of their defensive positioning….

This is spot on analysis, I like the idea of him trying to initiate/ seek out contact with the defender first, especially since he rarely gets separation on his drives to the basket, he needs to study Nas’ game, Nas is an expert at using the defenders own body against themselves……the irony is Nas was right there giving him advice on what he should be doing . If he wants to improve his success at 1v1 he is going to have to make some adjustments to the way he goes about things both physically and mentally..
It's just a matter of putting himself out there more which he's started doing lately

B Ellis always be shifting shifiting, different move to start most of the time, it's taxing to play like that all the time, train to get simple buckets, then get going with that, then start pulling some shifty moves. You can't be doing zig zag cross stepback pull type game for nearly 20 mins in ones. Go into their body and make some simple buckets happen, it's just always evading, shifting crossing. I am sure he knows better but people always tryna get the ooze and ahs instead of a bucket.

It’s been months since I watched Kam play and it looks like bro got waaaay better.
It seems to me like B needed a strong jab, a rocker step, and a convincing pump fake. The triple threat moves seems to be lacking in a lot of these 1s. I think it would make the game much easier for B and other players.
