Sleaford is a market town in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, in the East Midlands, England. We take a look around the streets of the town, take in some Sleaford landmarks and see what's happening here.
Some of the brilliant buildings in Sleaford include William Alvey's baroque house on Northgate, the Manor House on Northgate and Sessions House on the Market Place.
Sleaford is famous for being a market town, St Denys' Church, the war memorial and the east side of the market place which is fab!
The singer Lois Wilkinson of the Caravelles was born in Sleaford. Glamour model Abi Titmuss grew up in Ruskington and was educated at Kesteven and Sleaford High School, and Bernie Taupin, Elton John's lyricist, was born in the town too. Eric Thompson who narrated The Magic Roundabout television series, was born in a house on Jermyn Street here.
Sadly Sleaford didn't quite squeeze into the list of best places to live in Lincolnshire. The top four voted for were Lincoln, Market Rasen, Skegness and Stamford. See my TH-cam channel for vidoes on all those places!

I lived in Sleaford from the early seventies for a few years. I went to the Quarrington infants school and the the William Alvey primary school. We moved away when i was about 10 so its nice to see what it looks like now.
One of our little stop offs,nice to walk round and view all the alleyways, and shops,believe its the river Slea that runs through 👍☺another nice little video

Looks like a community clear-out of the river could be in order? Lot of old builders rubble in there. Pity, looks like a lovely town …. reminds me of Canterbury but without all the tourists and river punts. Lovely video, thank you 🙏🏻

thats the river slea hence that runs through sleaford and it goes right past cogglesford watermill
I live in Sleaford and the name comes from the name of the river the slea and that it is at a ford of the river slea hence Sleaford

My family was here from south of Italy in the late 50s and left to go back in the mid 60s... I was born here in 1961.

Cracking footage of my home town must of been on a Sunday the town is quite and the fish have gone because of the river isn't kept clean enough and they have been caught

It's actually the Nine Foot Drain. The Slea is crossed by the next bridge along. About 14:10 in the video.
