The hose clamp will not stop that crack growing through the welds. The welds are substantially weaker than the extruded 6061 the frame is made from. If you want to keep the frame get that crack welded through. It will need to be stress relieved but a blow torch will do that. Then the bb thread needs re-tapping as welding will have distorted it. I’m a metallurgist and that crack will propagate until it’s long enough to fail catastrophically. Personally I’d have sold the frame for scrap.
I have a 98 mango Yellow Stumpjumper M2 that I'm working on restoring. She rides great...I had the crank bearings replaced as well as my pedal, because those bearings were shot too....Your video is great learning tool for me....
So I have restorated a 2002-ish Cube Attention that i got from a friend last year. The Headtube was cracked at 3 places. I have the privilege that I know somebody that can weld Aluminium. I paid him 50€ to weld the cracks and now I'm enjoying my new old MTB. I'd suggest you get somebody to weld the crack. Usually Alu needs to be tempered after welding but I think if you don't ride that hard it will be ok. Cheers from Germany!

At 31:00 it shows you taking the axle from the non drive side and 33:08 you put it back in from the drive side. Could that have caused the dishing issue you had with the rear wheel? I finished the 1997 Klein Pulse Race I was working on and told you about in other comments. I copied ALL of your method and I still can’t believe how well everything cleaned up. I used normal scratch remover, sorry T-cut, and the color really came back on the Klein. You’re right about the bolts all coming back together easily, but I did have some unused washers at the end 🤔. Only things I had to replace was the chain, cables, headtube bearings, brake pads, bottom bracket, grips and tubes but I also upgraded the handlebars, stem and pedals. Evaporust is the real hero tbh, I threw every single part into it. I’m on the hunt for the next bike to restore.
Good eye! I actually put the axle in wrong way and had to switch it around, I ended up flipping it again, you can see it’s already flipped back around 34:56 when I’m cleaning the wheels. The footage musta got cut out haha 🤷♂️ too much footage lol. The wheel was dished different because it was from a different bike but yeah not sure because I think the rear axle space should’ve been the same. Maybe the bb size was different and effected the chain line. I’m honored you copied my methods!! Hopefully didn’t cause you too much pain and I’m glad you bike turned out great!! Ya Evaporust is amazing !! It’s so good honestly, does wonders.

Hi it’s a small bike it’s 14.5, for someone shorter that’s for sure! I can ride it okay and doesn’t feel too bad but probably better for someone smaller
only a professional weld will fix that frame....then re-tapping the threads afterwards...maybe you can trade a bike for the fix?....I'd definitely would dump that frame because of the cost to repair...it will be interesting to see how you solved this issue...

Ahhh I see, I think your bb is too short for the cranks you have. It’s hard to say what bb size is for your cranks but I think I ran a 113mm wide bb. You would have to double check tho because you have different cranks than me

I made an ebike with a similar 2002 Rockhopper and BBS02 that rides great. Over 10k km on that build, very solid frame.

@@garysprojects yes carbon was used with alloys to make hybrid frames, you will also see it on parts like stems and rims as well.
