lovely ride, done part of it a few times whilst going to derwent walk, and yes 3:55 is a busy road..! so, to head to derwent walk i turned off at the jolly drover pub (a692) and went down pont road then through medomsley...maybe better ways tho? but i joined it at the B6310 (via 'cut throat lane' as a very quiet road and another great name ha!) - then went to rowlands gill, then backtracked to the end of derwent walk at consett..then back to waskerley way.. i need to do this along to chester le street and there's some nice tracks around beamish woods and pelton fell etc too.. sure I've mentioned before, but when i lived in newcastle (early 90s) i did a loop from jesmond to north shields, ferry to south shields, down to sunderland, then to fatrield then along to consett and back on the derwent walk...not sure it was called the c2c from sunderland then as not sure if there was a specific track / trail as such?
It is a great ride but that road is awful to cross over. You cannot see down the road very well to the right as there are always parked cars there and of course everyone drives to fast. The other areas to cross are fine as people often let you across which is great. Cut throat lane 😮😁 Love it and not heard of that before. But that sounds a good route to and that ride you did back in the 90's sounds epic. That must have been a good distance. Katie and I parked in Whitley Bay and went down to the ferry to South Shields and rode around there for a while and then went back again on the ferry.... great ride that was
Cracking one john it's a nice part of the track upto Consett I live just of the track. Definitely need to get back on the bike again just been walking 🚶♀️. Take care thanks again
Yes is a lovely ride and walk down there. Katie and I parked at Beamish last year and walked down and its great. But I will have to try heading further down to Sunderland
