    I started watching the video to see how Grand Seikos are made and by the end a full-on rave had formed in my room. Tiesto was hyping the crowd and all... 30.000 people. It was glorious!

    A few years ago, I accidentally got a Grand Seiko watch. I didn’t understand watches then and asked a friend about watches. He told me that it was prestigious to wear only Swiss watches. And I gave a Grand Seiko watch to a relative of my wife. Oh how I regret this act. Now the crisis and I will not be able to buy such a watch.
    Over the years, my idea of watches has changed a lot, and now I think that Grand Seiko watches are perfect, very concise, nothing superfluous and at the same time refined and amazingly accurate.

      Sadly they won't be, at least not in the near future :S They are kinda like Maybach in the car industry. Capable of making more luxurious cars than Rolls Roys but for many, they are just a Mercedes. GS is my favorite brand and is far better than Rolex and on par with Patek, Vacheron and AP but sadly many people consider them more expensive Seiko which is wrong.

    when i started my watch collecting journey like many others i completely wrote off quartz movements as something i would never even entertain. seeing the craftsmanship and engineering of the spring drive has completely changed my opinion. the spring drive is a tremendous feat of horological engineering that has elevated grand seiko to a place of watch making status up there with the greats. i hope we see more of this movement with different complications like chronos, moon phase, day date month, ect.

      @Adrian Shephard It doesn't matter. The idea behind it was making time fluid, to let it flow, analog, and natural. The quartz is only the necessary evil which connects the man made h, m, s system with the true nature of time. In a way it makes this beauty even more zen and yin-yang.

    • @wreckage-vs5jv
      @wreckage-vs5jv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Adrian Shephard It's not a quartz movement. It has a spring, wound mechanically as in any automatic watch in the world. And an electrically regulated break. A quartz movement has an electric motor, directly driven by a quartz and zero springs, winding etc. Thus the quartz in Spring Drives is not part of anything that moves.

    Best craftsmanship in watch making.
    Now in the era of smart watches Seiko could encorporate this spring drive technology in hybrid kind of smart watches. This will bypass the regular charging of smartwatches. Even it will keep alive the technological legacy of spring drive.

    This inspection part is something i would have wanted for my GS. The EU service for GS in the Netherlands is not doing their job, leaving dust particles and smudges on the dial. Ive seen amateurs do a better cleanup :(
