These tier lists are so subjective there's really no point arguing, but... I admit Bike's placement got me tilted, haha. The original art is great and there's of course the symbolism behind it. Lord knows he didn't need the extra stats. But imo an outfit that stylish and art that clean doesn't deserve to get dumped that low. Minerva got robbed as well. Such colorful, unique art.
Sorry to tilt you! I think we both put a lot of weight on the Original vs Resplendent aspect, I think his art is superb! And about Minerva, different strokes for different folks!
I agree with the Bike part, but not the Minerva part as I agree with the 2 that neither art for her feels quite right for her and I can't say whether the resplendent is actually an improvement or not.

Also I think the her resplendent artist based her damage art on her tripping on her cape like when she tripped on her cape when she was a toddler! Which was a really cool touch! I hope we get baby sanaki on Tellius baby banner next year that would be adorable and if would be funny to see her talking about how she trips on her cape lol!

Add me to that group of 12 who love Serra. Her game was my first FE, and she was one of my favorite characters. Now in FEH she has single-handedly seen me through SO MANY Tempest Trials with her Miracle and Absorb+ Razzle-Dazzle staff. She's had full merges and Dragonflowers for ages before I was pleasantly surprised by the Resplendent boost; now I'm just holding out hope she'll be one of the next Staff prfs like Mist.
I loved the video and I really like hearing you both discussing about anything so thank you two for doing this. I generally agree with at least one of you on every character except for maybe Lucina. I get why people don't like Lucina's art and I agree that making her a child and showing those armpits is completely unnecessary and wrong, but I think that, if you just see the art without knowing who she is, it is really good (I personally love the colors and how her eye glows when she procs the special) so I think that she could be a C tier or even low B (I like her more than Leif).
Lucina's special pose made me so conflicted when she came out because it was so nice, but even if she was supposed to be drawn as a child (Let's say she's on the next baby banner), I still think this artist's style only works for munchkin characters like Fae. I'm really not a big fan of Raigh, Lugh, Chad and Mamori because of the thick lines and body proportions

Resplendent Robin was the sole reason I got the FEH pass for even a brief period of time. I absolutely love the costume and the fact that it was like Robin being a general of Hel. Idk I’m probably a strange case since I love anything to do with Robin, but I felt like it contrasted his normal art well by the implications involved in the costume. Like, why would he become a general of Hel? What happened? The bags under his eyes could represent the fact that he’s dead, or the fact that he’s just so tired of serving under Hel. Idk I think the art, and implications, just make it so cool to me. And no, I’m not disliking your video because I have Robin bias. That would just be rude.

I won't give an argument because your argument is basically criticizing the artist's art style and the proportions that they are most accustomed to drawing. Instead, I will give context about what I have media I have consumed that changed my point of view. Ahem I played Etrian Oddyssey... ... What? You wanted more? ok. Then I will give more, I guess. Lucina's art from my point of view is the type of art that I would show to one of my friends who is an art geek just to see her reaction. She prioritizes shading when she talks about how good art looks. Primarily because it's REALLLLLY HARD TO DO. As a result of this she doesn't think R!Eldigan looks good because there seems to be very little shading in exchange for making the colors pop and having the design look more visually appealing. Since I have played Etrian Odyssey I am VERY used to the proportions that his artist uses for ALL of their character designs. The proportions are the same. And as a result, I just see it as a stylistic choice rather than any real showing of age. From my small dipshit brain and my lack of knowledge about this artist's work I assume that this might be some their best work. The colors go really well together. The design fits the character. Her facial expressions are perfect. And the shading on the special art............... The art just clicks for me. I dunno. I have to compare with other art to see which one I like the most but for me she will always be in S tier. P.S. shading= shadows in the drawings. having light interact with different parts of the subject of the drawing. Good shading means having shadows. Find R!Eldigan's shadow in his art. I think it looks good but can confirm that I have trouble finding it. Now look at other characters and try to see where you can find shading. And appreciate how much effort that takes. Congratulations for reaching here and realizing that I am not shitting on anyone. Primarily just me revealing how shit my taste is.
Oh boy time for me to preemptively get counter arguments up. I personally believe that the artist taking time to draw in a way that they are not comfortable with would've made the art look worse. So, I believe that he shouldn't have to take our shit and appeal to us specifically. Especially when that would've made the end product worse. ("Us" technically excluding me but I think you get that.)

I love Lucina's design and I think the coloring/shading is amazing on her special pose, but I'm also not a huge fan of the harsh shadows the artist uses in all of their pieces. You said that the art would come out worse if the artist tried to use a style they aren't comfortable with, but I'd just prefer if IS got a different artist that would actually suit a character like Lucina better, consider Yuji has only drawn children for FEH so far

Hector always looked weirdly satisfying to me, yes, Arthur too... And azuras smug face. She was always so bland, that bit of expression made me like her for the first time
i disagree with the leif choice the most, i think his original is so static and boring. the weird potato face on the original puts me off the most, and the poses are so uninspired. it's like theres a warm glossy filter over him the whole time, same for quan. the resplendent gives him much more colour and the new artist gave him more dynamic poses, i think the new art suits him way more. opinions are opinions though and that makes us human :]
The only thing that was a huge difference for me was Caeda. I'd put her way lower. The poses look awkward to me. And the voice lines sound off though they technically don't reflect on the visual art
You're right! But we found out about her in November, and if I put December in the title, we'll be missing 2 potential resplendents from that month. I made the safer choice!

Among the male art on feh, Eldigan's resplendent looks so fucking badass that it should have its own tier. Such a shame that some of theale resplendent is kinda lack luster, females are so easy for them to do. Like increase their UwU factor, breast sizes, and outfit with a dash of lewd fanservice in the hurt art.
IMO: Julia is S tier. I dunno why.. Something about the style, but also that creepyness. It's just magnificent. But love to hear everyone's thoughts on these things! it's so diverse, meaning there's something for everyone.
Yeah I agree, she kinda looks like a cute ghost you would cross by in a blizzard. The color palette is really nice too, like it blends in a very unique way and her face is looking so otherwordly, I love it ! Also her specials voice lines rules
Ngl, I LOATHE the fairy resplendents. They only have one good one and its Elincia. Tana looks like someone smashed her face, Eirika just doesn’t look like a threat at all, Delthea looks dumb, and Lucina.
I feel like there should’ve been two different tier lists, one for the resplendent at a vacuum at face value, and another is how much they improved from the original art because def don’t agree with some of them tier list placements
I havent seen the entire video, but from the finished list, I would put Celica, Julia and Azura in S tier, and drop Caeda, Lilina and Cordelia to A or B tier. I really want the Celica and Julia artists to make more art for feh because I liked both the artystles.
I definitely agree that R! Nowi is the best Nowi we have in art. And even though it didn’t totally cover her up it did cover a lot more than the other two. Also agree on R! Lucina the design is great but the actual art is awful to me for making her look like a five year old
Shanna fan here, absolutely love this character. I'm waiting for an opportunity to buy feh pass so i can get the extra stats on her but I will be switching back to the regular art immediately.
Only one I hard disagree with is Minerva. I think she looks so damn amazing! Also I disagree with how high Nowi is out of hatred for the character. Makes me really uncomfortable that she is sexualized in any capacity. Her design is one of the worst in FE history for me because of that.

i think it would've been nice to factor in the voice lines, particularly if the VA sounds very different/is straight up a new person. While art is the main focus of resplendents the VA performance has made or broken many resplendents for me, especially as someone who usually plays with animations off. then again maybe it'd muddy the waters and make tiring each character too hard, idk.
I considered it! But I also thought this would take a while to discuss anyway, and I would've had to prepare voice lines from each unit for us to listen to while reviewing. I decided to axe it because the art is more important for Glitter and I. The final recording time was 2 hours and 11 minutes (Most of the cut footage was me scrambling around looking for art), and I think I'm happy with the choice I made

Very fair hahaha, I just felt out of the non-lord characters, she wasn't terribly popular to begin with, so for IS to choose a non-lord character like her just took me by surprise. I think it's great that she got one and I hope more characters in her tier get resplendents as well!
the only placements that i disagree with are azura being too high and amelia being too low, imo azura belongs in the D tier and amelia should be S with azura her design is fine in concept but that art is just plagued with really basic errors, like the hand that is in front of her chest being smaller than the hand at her side and her leg seemingly coming from behind her waist, also while one wrist is viewed from the side and the other from the flat theyre both drawn the same width its really off-putting with amelia im really glad she no longer looks like a 6 year old she actually looks like amelia now and the overall design just suits her better and the colour scheme is really nice though i still think amelia shouldve been a cav. amelia was the first character i really liked when i played sacred stones as a teenager so its nice to see her done justice
I myself agree with Robin's art, it doesn't fit at all and it looks like a black and white mess with purple in it, I get the evil version but like we have grima on 2 versions so I just don't exactly like it to be honest, I would've preferred muspell or askr, I love robin and like he is my +10 project I just need to think if the florette is worth it but either way I would throw him on D just because I got hurt the art (no offense of course)
I don't even think that the Lucina Resplendent art is bad by any means. It looks fine. The issue I have is why the artist/IS decided to make her into a child for it? Like if they had put that design on a child banner, people would've loved her but when she's supposed to look like Lucina in another realms outfit it just falls flat.
Yea I really like R! Lucina's art a lot. It's just odd compared to OG Lucina because we know she's older than how she's drawn. It looks like she got shrunk down by 5 years. In a situation where that's supposedly "Reborn Lucina," then that would be an amazing concept.

There is no problem with the art itself, I've seen plenty of character designs from this artist (thanks to Etrian Odyssey V, I guess) and this is one of the best looking so far. No joke, if you're familiar with some of the artist's work, you should know this is an *adult* character BUT in his art style. And that raises a question: Why did IntSys decide to choose the artist whose style is more appropriate for small characters to draw Lucina's resplendent ? They have seen how the artist drew Fae and her alts, and most importantly, how it draws its characters in general, yet they still decided to go with it for Lucina's resplendent. Oh man...

Here's my controversial opinion: I don't like Eldigan's art lmao, it is just far too edgy for me (coming from the person who really likes the fairy and nifl art so it makes sense) Most everything else on this list I agree with or don't have *too* much of a difference on. I appreciate Glitter's presence here for the much-needed balance between the target demographics as well!
I have a positive way you can interpret little Lucina: I think of it as though it were her actual young alt like young marth, caeda, eirika and the like. And the fact that her future was doomed, she had to pick up the sword at a young age
You got me with B!Ike. His resplendent is my favorite of them all (well, before they released Raven I guess). Did he need one? No. Does it make sense to give brave heroes respendents? Not really. But the art alone makes him S-Tier for me. Best looking Ike in the game.

I only got Lucina’s because A) I love her B) her design is the best and C) I don’t play with animations on so I just see the adorable Sprite. Since I have played Etrian Odyssey I am VERY used to the proportions that his artist uses for ALL of their character designs.
The proportions are the same. And as a result, I just see it as a stylistic choice rather than any real showing of age.
From my small dipshit brain and my lack of knowledge about this artist's work I assume that this might be some their best work.
The colors go really well together.
The design fits the character.
Her facial expressions are perfect.
And the shading on the special art...............
The art just clicks for me.
I dunno.
I have to compare with other art to see which one I like the most but for me she will always be in S tier.
P.S. shading= shadows in the drawings. having light interact with different parts of the subject of the drawing. Good shading means having shadows.
Find R!Eldigan's shadow in his art. I think it looks good but can confirm that I have trouble finding it.
Now look at other characters and try to see where you can find shading. And appreciate how much effort that takes.

I personally believe that the artist taking time to draw in a way that they are not comfortable with would've made the art look worse.
So, I believe that he shouldn't have to take our shit and appeal to us specifically. Especially when that would've made the end product worse.

I love Lucina's design and I think the coloring/shading is amazing on her special pose, but I'm also not a huge fan of the harsh shadows the artist uses in all of their pieces. You said that the art would come out worse if the artist tried to use a style they aren't comfortable with, but I'd just prefer if IS got a different artist that would actually suit a character like Lucina better, consider Yuji has only drawn children for FEH so far

My problem is Resplendent Leif is the cape. Every Nifl character and resplendent have a white cape... why they gave him a red cape?! That bothers me.
i disagree with the leif choice the most, i think his original is so static and boring. the weird potato face on the original puts me off the most, and the poses are so uninspired. it's like theres a warm glossy filter over him the whole time, same for quan. the resplendent gives him much more colour and the new artist gave him more dynamic poses, i think the new art suits him way more.

The only thing that was a huge difference for me was Caeda. I'd put her way lower. The poses look awkward to me. And the voice lines sound off though they technically don't reflect on the visual art

Ngl resplendent Linde is my least favourite resplendent, mostly because of the voice acting. No offense to the VA it just doesn't sound like Linde, it sounds more like young cordi to me.
Yeah I agree with the va too! Also her and sanaki got really unsuitable vas on their resplendent like resplendent sanaki sounds like she is 20 and commanding despite her being 13 and linde sounds more younger

Among the male art on feh, Eldigan's resplendent looks so fucking badass that it should have its own tier.
Such a shame that some of theale resplendent is kinda lack luster, females are so easy for them to do. Like increase their UwU factor, breast sizes, and outfit with a dash of lewd fanservice in the hurt art.
IMO: Julia is S tier. I dunno why.. Something about the style, but also that creepyness. It's just magnificent. But love to hear everyone's thoughts on these things! it's so diverse, meaning there's something for everyone.
Yeah I agree, she kinda looks like a cute ghost you would cross by in a blizzard. The color palette is really nice too, like it blends in a very unique way and her face is looking so otherwordly, I love it !

Ngl, I LOATHE the fairy resplendents. They only have one good one and its Elincia. Tana looks like someone smashed her face, Eirika just doesn’t look like a threat at all, Delthea looks dumb, and Lucina.
I feel like there should’ve been two different tier lists, one for the resplendent at a vacuum at face value, and another is how much they improved from the original art because def don’t agree with some of them tier list placements

I havent seen the entire video, but from the finished list, I would put Celica, Julia and Azura in S tier, and drop Caeda, Lilina and Cordelia to A or B tier. I really want the Celica and Julia artists to make more art for feh because I liked both the artystles.

I definitely agree that R! Nowi is the best Nowi we have in art. And even though it didn’t totally cover her up it did cover a lot more than the other two.
Also agree on R! Lucina the design is great but the actual art is awful to me for making her look like a five year old
Shanna fan here, absolutely love this character. I'm waiting for an opportunity to buy feh pass so i can get the extra stats on her but I will be switching back to the regular art immediately.

Only one I hard disagree with is Minerva. I think she looks so damn amazing!
Also I disagree with how high Nowi is out of hatred for the character. Makes me really uncomfortable that she is sexualized in any capacity. Her design is one of the worst in FE history for me because of that.

And i agree about B!Ike he's base art is amazing, i like his faces, the resplendent one shows too much "emotion" (funny thing, never played Radiant Dawn or Path of Radiance but Ike art is so damn good that made him my favorite unit in FEH, as a f2p +10 him was the best thing i've ever did xD)

i think it would've been nice to factor in the voice lines, particularly if the VA sounds very different/is straight up a new person. While art is the main focus of resplendents the VA performance has made or broken many resplendents for me, especially as someone who usually plays with animations off.
then again maybe it'd muddy the waters and make tiring each character too hard, idk.
I considered it! But I also thought this would take a while to discuss anyway, and I would've had to prepare voice lines from each unit for us to listen to while reviewing. I decided to axe it because the art is more important for Glitter and I. The final recording time was 2 hours and 11 minutes (Most of the cut footage was me scrambling around looking for art), and I think I'm happy with the choice I made

Very fair hahaha, I just felt out of the non-lord characters, she wasn't terribly popular to begin with, so for IS to choose a non-lord character like her just took me by surprise. I think it's great that she got one and I hope more characters in her tier get resplendents as well!

the only placements that i disagree with are azura being too high and amelia being too low, imo azura belongs in the D tier and amelia should be S
with azura her design is fine in concept but that art is just plagued with really basic errors, like the hand that is in front of her chest being smaller than the hand at her side and her leg seemingly coming from behind her waist, also while one wrist is viewed from the side and the other from the flat theyre both drawn the same width its really off-putting
with amelia im really glad she no longer looks like a 6 year old she actually looks like amelia now and the overall design just suits her better and the colour scheme is really nice though i still think amelia shouldve been a cav. amelia was the first character i really liked when i played sacred stones as a teenager so its nice to see her done justice

I myself agree with Robin's art, it doesn't fit at all and it looks like a black and white mess with purple in it, I get the evil version but like we have grima on 2 versions so I just don't exactly like it to be honest, I would've preferred muspell or askr, I love robin and like he is my +10 project I just need to think if the florette is worth it but either way I would throw him on D just because I got hurt the art (no offense of course)
I don't even think that the Lucina Resplendent art is bad by any means. It looks fine. The issue I have is why the artist/IS decided to make her into a child for it? Like if they had put that design on a child banner, people would've loved her but when she's supposed to look like Lucina in another realms outfit it just falls flat.
Yea I really like R! Lucina's art a lot. It's just odd compared to OG Lucina because we know she's older than how she's drawn. It looks like she got shrunk down by 5 years.
In a situation where that's supposedly "Reborn Lucina," then that would be an amazing concept.

There is no problem with the art itself, I've seen plenty of character designs from this artist (thanks to Etrian Odyssey V, I guess) and this is one of the best looking so far.
No joke, if you're familiar with some of the artist's work, you should know this is an *adult* character BUT in his art style. And that raises a question:
Why did IntSys decide to choose the artist whose style is more appropriate for small characters to draw Lucina's resplendent ? They have seen how the artist drew Fae and her alts, and most importantly, how it draws its characters in general, yet they still decided to go with it for Lucina's resplendent. Oh man...

Here's my controversial opinion: I don't like Eldigan's art lmao, it is just far too edgy for me (coming from the person who really likes the fairy and nifl art so it makes sense)
Most everything else on this list I agree with or don't have *too* much of a difference on. I appreciate Glitter's presence here for the much-needed balance between the target demographics as well!

I have a positive way you can interpret little Lucina: I think of it as though it were her actual young alt like young marth, caeda, eirika and the like. And the fact that her future was doomed, she had to pick up the sword at a young age
You got me with B!Ike. His resplendent is my favorite of them all (well, before they released Raven I guess).
Did he need one? No. Does it make sense to give brave heroes respendents? Not really. But the art alone makes him S-Tier for me. Best looking Ike in the game.

I only got Lucina’s because A) I love her B) her design is the best and C) I don’t play with animations on so I just see the adorable Sprite. Her attack and special art has grown on me, but her damaged art is the worst. And yes, I did do the favor and draw Lucina’s base art in her resplendent outfit and it was beautiful. Now we need a B!Lucina one that gives us Lucina fans justice.
