This was more engaging and enjoyable than the standard archeological shows on TH-cam you generally come across. I look forward to watching the next in this series.
Chances are that first S shaped iron piece you found was part of a buckboard, which is the hard wooden seat of a wagon. The reason they called it a buckboard was because if the driver was inexperienced in driving a team that board seat would buck you off.😂
Just binge watched all the new releases on EACH CHANNEL OF YOURS! Would do it again every week or whenever u guys are able to release new content. Thx for your awesome videos I can binge watch every channel and never get tired of your content! Keep up the great work!
WOW!!! What an amazing video and story. I was spellbound from the beginning. I love ghost towns and walking through old cemeteries. Thank you for your hard work and diligence.
Fascinating, thoroughly enjoy walking through history with a wonderful narration of facts and musings of wild west life. Could watch endless hours, will check out your previous vids. Thanks for all that you do.
Since it is a historic place, in my opinion, it would be interesting to carry out an archaeological excavation around the city and rebuild it, transforming it into a public museum for everyone to visit and learn about its history and what life was like at that time. A big thank you for the video and a hug from Portugal 🇵🇹
That's why it's hard to find remnants of towns in the Pine Barrens, bricks and wood were dismantled and used elsewhere (really vandals as it wasn't their property) or lost to forest fires. Lots of history lost. Excellent investigative exploring! Square nail heads are actually a cool find as they are an indicator of pre-1900s. Lots of cool remnants found! The cemetery is actually in pretty good shape. Great video!
This dude is an excellent storyteller. Picks up a broken piece of glass and starts pondering if perhaps Daly took his last shot from it. Just good way to humanize history.
The bracket looks like a bracket for a wall hanging kerosene lamp. One end inserted into a wall sconce and swivelled the lamp. The other end was a cast basket for the lamp. Usually had embellishments cast onto it. Also usually had a concave mirror attached to reflect light.
Are you the same guy that use to travel isolated desolate areas in California and its border states? Ghost towns, old mines. At first never showed your face and an unknown partner who was later revealed as your daughter? Id forgotten the channel name and it popped up today.
I found an old picture of the town, it was quite large. It looked to have over twenty buildings some very large some small and some houses on the outskirts.
I have always had issues with tripping over 'dead bodies'... Especially in a firefight.. I love archeology and while not a pro, graveyards are my thing, as well as towns (or what remains) like this... I will say this, and I'm sure it'll get some frowns if anyone reads this... Never remove a square nail from an old building or anything still standing.. BUT, pick up that and whatever else on a trail like they are arrowheads.. I am a technical scientific diver who legal has been on the Monitor ship wreck.. I personally take issue with anything that is historical and is left to rot / rust away and not recovered.. NOT for a single second do I agree with people taking souvenirs from underwater graves - military for the most part, but the Titanic is going to be a rust stain within 100 years of today, if not sooner.. Same with the monitor.. I'm glad the turret and other things were removed once she was found... Good for you on doing what is considered the "Right Thing"; however, I would rather those square nails (etc) fall into private hands, and one day after we all die, they could be donated or just passed down... Hope that makes sense..
Seeing this area takes me back to childhood I was born and raised in the Mojave desert a town called Hinkley that whole desert was my playground to the opal likes and calico ghost town :) I used to find amethyst and arrowheads in my ‘yard’ sadly the water poisoned our wells from chromium six and it’s a ghost town now . The school I went k-8 still stands and the church.
Raven , if you want I’d love to go back there and take a look around :) my estranged father still lives not far from there . But now Hinkley like my own hands and the owl canyon up there elephant mountain and there is an old water park right outside the drive in of Barstow
Was given 2 ads, the second one being a full podcast 55 minutes in length. What the heck is TH-cam doing? I shouldn’t have to skip the ad on my phone to avoid watching an ad longer than your video.
Glad you relocated the snake without feeling the need to run it over I wish more people was like you I live in Florida I hunt the ocala national forest and have watched these hillbilly hicks swerve all the way into oncoming lanes to run over snakes nothing irritates me more than irrational fear lol
This was sooo good. Thx so much. I live in Nevada and love seeing this. You can’t tell by looking, but the terrain and environment are so darn hostile it’s a real feat to get out and wander like that. ✌️
Thank you, Raven! This reminds me of the old days when you guys went on crazy trips! Those were the days!
the orginal father daughter duo sold the channel ):

Someone's soul zipped by
Good catch that’s amazing. Nothing I can think of that looks that white floating in the middle of the desert. Definitely gives paranormal vibes
Takes me back to my time at Susanville. Love the gopher snakes too

11:15 I’m guessing it was wagon/carriage grab handle.

Every building in town having a bar is pretty funny
The great starvation starts as soon as the creepers starts to build.

Topo map is pronounced "top oh" as it is short for topography! ❤ Map nerd reporting in.
That S shaped piece of metal could have been used as an anchor plate for a brick or mason wall back in the 1800’s
The 3 children whose grave is at 39:00 , given 1878...mostly died from the diphtheria epidemic.

Was that EWU Rooney doing the exploring? Amazing what items are still out there after over 100 years.

Its part of an ornate fence. Decoration that goes along the top of the fence.
Awesome vid.

Drive the road from Yurington all the way to Bodie. Theres still some wild country left.
A metal detector would be handy there
Thanks for the history vid 👌

36:00 I can imagine Daley throwing a shot glass after slamming 6 back, kicking and verbally berating the crowd.
Part of a oil wall lamp bracket at 10:42
Running in four wheel drive like that on dry roads will mess up the drivetrain
Unless there is a center differential, which have become more common.
That item looked like handbrake hardware for a buckboard wagon!
It's a lamp hanger
Why dont you mention navy used for bombing practice that destroyed the town.
I LOVE EWU!!!! ❤
Wait, is this the person who runs EWU crew??? Holy crap.
Yes! Happy Wednesday! E W U
You could find more with a good metal detector...
11:27 Is it a Wheel break? 🛞
