Nice Job Dr U.....I am 55 yrs old and next year I will have been an AK for 50 years. Suspension is still the hardest issue to master, especially for active amputees. Thank you for you series.

why is suspension difficult? and since you've had it for so long, which have you preferred over time--no interface or interface?

@@karthik_silkroads Everything about the socket is custom made for you only and if you aren't comfortable with the fit or the socket doesn't stay on well then you will experience difficulties. This takes time and patience and a good prosthetist. I still struggle with the interface ? all the time. I currently use a liner with a pin locking mechanism by coyote design. But honestly, I still miss the straight suction. It gives you the best feel and suspension but you do have to put up with more skin irritation and breakdown. Still though, it easy to take on and off and you can use the valve to adjust air pressure inside the socket. Feels like it is part of you, like not wearing a condom so to speak. Alignment of the prosthesis is also critical, I make my own small adjustments to the alignment to get it right for me.

@@georgegarner5331 did your old suction-type suspension wear out? that does sound like its more a part of your body. what kind of activities do you like to do with your prosthesis? and thanks for the knowledge :)

@@karthik_silkroads Sockets don't wear out so much but you do grow out of them. Putting weight on or dropping weight or you think some thing better comes along that you want to try. I've done everything people with 2 legs have done and continue to do. It's my life. Over the years I have done basketball, tennis, martial arts, boxing as far as sports goes. I had to keep up with my brothers and friends growing up and never had any other amputees around me and still don't. Are you a new amputee? If so, what is it like for you?

Thanks for helping me learn more about my prosthetic legs. Im a bilateral AKA with very high amputations so prosthetic usage is always a challenge

Can you tell me if my leg could be to heavy? It feels like I’m pulling around a boulder all the time.

Stumble control is not perfect. It has failed on me more than once and I've fallen.
