I'm black and I have people in my family who have naturally red hair, 2 of my 1st cousins on my mom's side were redheads when they were young and a couple of younger ones now are redheads. Some relatives even have blue or grey eyes. It comes from the mixing that was done in my ancestry during slavery so there's that...lol

My best friend in HS was black and she had natural red hair and freckles...stunning.
Most Black Americans come from the Southern States where many Plantation owners were of English, Scottish or Irish ancestry. Therefore the Red hair gene is prevelant after Centuries of intermixing. The term " Redbone" also came from such mixing in U.S southern history.
Depending where you're from it may not have been due to slavery. There was a whole community around San Antonio in the 1700s (prior to Tx becoming a state) with a large population of mixed marriages- African, Spanish/Mexican, white settlers, Native Americans. Louisiana wanted to build a wall to stop slaves from escaping into Tx at the time where slavery was illegal (of course the Mexican govt did turn a blind eye to settlers that brought slaves to Tx with them). There are all kinds of different things that went on back then (besides the obvious of course) even if they were rare or became rare etc
My wife's step dad is only 1/8th black and looks like a typical white dude till summer. Dude gets the darkest tan I have ever seen. And it happens on the first day or two of sun. lol

It's true, most of us redheads have brown eyes. Y'all do have more strawberry blonde and blue eyed gingers in the UK. Most of us with darker, Auburn hair have brown eyes.
My mom had auburn hair when she was young and she has dark brown eyes. I feel like most people with light features usually have lighter colored eyes. Of course this isn't based off any science. Lol
I'm a weird mix of Anglo-Cuban and Ashkenazi Jewish. I have pale skin, Auburn red hair, and brown eyes. I can tan, but not like my older sister with dark hair and dark eyes. 🤷♀️
i love pale, freckled redheads, mmm mmm mmm, sooo beautiful. i dated...A LOT...of redheads in the past, like an addiction, and about 60/40 dark to light eyes. my wife is fair skinned and freckled, with bright auburn hair and greenish hazel eyes. yummyyyyyy. i'm still addicted.

The combination of having both red hair and blue eyes is so rare because blue eye color is also a recessive trait, meaning both parents must carry the gene for a child to have it. It's creepy that u know this. But also I think u might be wrong I know 3 red heads who have no relation to each other and they all have blue eyes.

Red hair with green eyes is the most rare combo. It doesn't seem like it because they always make models of people with this combination, so we see them in pictures more than they exist in real life.
I had a friend in high school who was a green eyed redhead. Pale green eyes, red hair, and tan skin from some Cherokee blood (this was in Oklahoma). I was so jealous, lol, she had some of the most beautiful coloring I’ve ever seen in real life. I have green eyes, too, but dishwater blonde and so white I’m nearly see thru. We had another blue eyed redhead, she was the freckle face kind. My college roommate was that variety as well, never met another one with that first combo though, it’s very striking.

I'm a redheaded girl...I notice a difference between how females and males are treated. I've gotten ALOT of hate believe me, but not nearly as bad as my brother has. And it is truly mad how much racist hate I've gotten.
In the US "Carrot Top" is the most widely heard insult to red haired people. Second or third are "red-headed stepchild" or "Orphan Annie". You also hear "we'd better get out of the sun before [redhead] bursts into flames".
My sister was a red head and when someone called her a carrot top, she'd point out that carrot tops are green

I saw only 2 blue -eyed redheads and one green - eyed redhead in 48 years of life. Most have dark brown eyes.

A previous ginger, my hair has turned brown and now turning grey, but when I was under age of 7, I had orange hair.. my Grandma called me her Pumpkin ( I never knew why until I got older.. LOL (love you grandma!)) my hair did not turn until maybe 20 years old.. and I have blue eyes as well.. so i burn with just a talk of going outside.. my senior prom, I was in Florida two days before, I had white tuxedo, so bad the photos!! LOL

7:10 A guy I was friends with in high school, who is 6'5" absolutely ripped, bright reddish orangish hair, and freckles all over studied abroad in China for a semester when he was in college/uni. I can't even imagine how much he stuck out.

I was born with basically orange hair light blue eyes. Of course still have blue eyes but by time I turned 12 my hair started turning more blondish brown. So I guess I would not be considered ginger. If your born ginger are you always ginger?
My sister had strawberry blond hair that lightened as she got older. My dad had proper red hair in his youth, then it went full blond. My cousins and I have managed to keep our red hair into our late 30s/early 40s.

I have 2 kids, both redheads, 1 has brown eyes the other has blue eyes.
I never thought about it but yeah, I'm not sure I've ever met a ginger without brown eyes. Usually dark brown/black, too. LOTS of blue-eyed brunettes and blondes, but nope. Not redheads.

Me too. Actually kind of ambidextrous. I eat and write left handed but, do most sports right handed. I can throw darts with both hands. I can eat with both hands but, I cannot write with both. I sometimes tell people I am the opposite of Phil Mickelson. He is right handed but, golfs leftie and I and left handed but, I golf rightie. He is and excellent golfer and me not so much.

My father and one of his sisters (but not his twin) were red heads, with grey eyes. They both had the facial features of their father (black) but very light skinned and lots of freckles. Their other siblings had the same features, but darker skinned and brown eyed.
