- One of Sad Sam's last shows in 2014. They played to a packed house at Players Pub in Bloomington, Indiana. It was a great night!
Sadie Johnson - gutiar
Krista Hess - guitar
Sam Johnson - bass
Matt McCarthy - drums
Sam Motter - sax
Damn if it ain't the Allman Sisters. Fantastic.
These young ladies really put the fun back in music for me, I love the faces and their smiles, they are loving what they are doing and all us players need to remember that, they can teach us a good life lesson. Thank you Ladies.
Love her, and share's the stage well. Good sound mix too.
That was . . . Actually pretty frickin amazing
I'm not sure what lead me here but this is some of the best music I've heard in a while!
One of the "Best "live shows iv seen in a long time
I wish there could be more.
I wish I could have been there.
Oh la la my mind all around the space !!!!
This is perhaps the most beautiful pop instrumental of all time and the girls do a great cover. Sad that they aren't together anymore, but I'm sure they will all find success. Krista in particular has room to come into her own - she's a technically great guitarist and singer, just has to develop comfort in being the band lead. But I'll miss them together; I cannot think of another band other than Robert Randolph and the Family Band that is such a sheer uplifting experience.
This never gets old! We Need a Reunion! 😎✌️💕❤️
Just breaks my heart to think that I will not get to see this marvelous group working together again.
I sure wouldn't mind if they ever got back together again.Just wishful thinking.
This one brings tears it was that good , so masterful, melody 🎵 with the lady’s in sink, kool thanks beautiful lady’s,BigAl California.
In one of my lowest points of my life....Sad Sam you talented girls with exquisite talent bring the Sun Light back to me......Thank You. Keep having Fun. ... . really it makes a difference.
Cheers Carlos Research1.
Great job
This is probably the best 14 minutes of my day.
Krista Hess has a very clean, total pro technique, just nails the notes, perfectly clear, not many guitarists do that, give her a listen again on this, when they start going back and forth on leads around 11:00, really good guitar jams, Sadie and Krista really know how to rock this great classic tune.
Great performance ! These girls have so much fun and Sadie's power is unbeatable. For decades Jessica was not my favourite song but this version is !
A girl & her guitar. Such a wonderful thing!
Sound just like them almost. Great job.
Gets better every time ... with little "Mountain Jam" echoes still pleasantly surprising!
The Bass player is amazing
Sadie and Krista, possibly the best guitar duo in the world!
Jessica is probably the best guitar tune there is!
And Sam on the bass, what more could you want for great music!?!
I love this jam !!!
I love Sadie! She's awesome guitar and smiles happy!
This was the best rendition, other than the original, that I've ever heard of this song. That's coming from a guy who fell in love with the Allmans as a teen--when Duane was still playing.
Two years later..still impressed!
Just watched a live performance of the Allman Brothers Band. This is in my opinion the greatest instrumental tune of all time, but while the Allman Brothers Band is superb and Dickey Betts is one of the greatest guitar players of all time, the Sad Sam Blues Jam version is still my personal favorite version of this oft-covered song. I think the sax really adds to the song. Great job.
So glad you girls picked up a guitar!!!!
I have always loved this tune, even named my oldest daughter after it, and now I have a new favorite version. Thank you.
+David Berndt They have at least three youtube videos of this song. Check them out since they are different.
I like how they changed the original tempo but remained true to Betts's guitar solos. Great job ladies! Almost gives it a slight reggae sound. Excellent work
I never heard of this band. Too bad! The bassist is good as well as beautiful. Just a good band.
Bravissime davvero complimenti bella versione
Hot dang ladies ! Y'all showing out, and you do it so very well !
Sad Sam is very sad today. We'll always remember you Greg.
wow love the sound of Ms Johnson on the les paul
wow love the sound of Ms Johnson on the jazz bass
Mesmerizing. And MAGNIFICENT. BRAVO!!!
So sad if Sad Sam is done. They had a magic sound.
Just incredible! Jessica is one of my faves.
Great sound from the UK
love Sadie's solo, brought new life to the classic! the 2 guitar inter-play was amazing, thank you!
These ladies captured the swing of “Jessica,” even if their tempo was slightly slower-nice tone, precise notes.
Geez you guys are so very good. I couldn't stop listening.
I love that song.
this band is a nice find
Peeling myself off the wall. Just astounding!!! Incredible.
+Jim Manternach Glad you liked it!!
Wow !! That was absolutely brilliant !!!!!!!!!
+Music & Shotokan Thank you!
Love Jessica and this is mighty fine!
so sweet and wonderful
lol Wow, that heart was a long time coming. Hope the girls are all healthy and happy. I still come back to this and Duck Duck Blues for a pick-me-up. Perfect mix of wholesome, beautiful kids having a great time and playing great music. It ain’t easy to follow Dickie Betts, but they do a great cover with fun improv. Love the sax too - SOOOO much better than the piano solo.
Fantastic,Thanks for sharing your talents, Girls
WOW ! ... Great job Ladies !
Bravo girls!!!! Some gooooood music for German ears!!! Well done!!
No more Sad Sam Sam blues Jam ? Hope each finds there magic carpet ride and rides it to the fullest if the band has played it's final curtain call.
They went into Mountain jam, totally cool! So is this band together still? They are really awesome, exactly what music needs right now, to go against all the b.s. commercial music garbage on the radio and everywhere. These ladies could be one of the biggest bands now, if they really went for it, and did not get distracted or anything, the world needs real rock and roll like Sad Sam Jam.. These ladies need to make a couple albums with top players and go on tour. Any promoter that would not invest in them for tours and albums is really foolish. These ladies are really good, almost all the way there.
My friends Duane Allman, Barry Oakley would love you gals...you do them proud!!!
very well done
COOL 👍👏♥️
What a cool band!
wholly molly! just when I thought it couldn't get any better, they play Dicky Betts stuff

found you through Sam fish n in my opinion you blow her away n I've been a fan of hers for a long time
but again very very good job loved it
wish you the best
hope you go far
you are all great musicians
Thank you!
Jessica was written by Dickie Betts and first appeared on the ABB album, "Brothers and Sisters," years after Dwayne was killed on that motorcycle. Les Dudek played second guitar. Sad Sam Blues Jam is on point with the feel of this song even though the album version features a long piano solo. I love watching Sadie gleefully rendering the licks and adding her own "mojo." Great Band!
*Duane!!
The difference between a lick and a riff is that even though they are both fragments of music, licks are not identified with any one piece of music and can be found across multiple genres of music. Example: the turnaround. But riffs are identifiable fragments of music that are associated with one particular song that would be considered sampling if included in any other piece of music. Example: Opening to Smoke on the Water. Not only is ABB music loaded with riffs, it relies heavily on the Relative Major Pentatonic Scale for its overall sound. Although the girls made it through these songs, their collective timing was painfully WAY off and listening to them was not a pleasant experience.
You play it then...
Adjust settings to 1.25x speed and you have true Allman Brothers
They'll nail it. Just wait.
Holy shit !!!
@ Samantha: pls stop being so drop dead gorgeous and cute ! I am about to get hooked on listening and watching all the vids you girls make. Great music, Highly addictive !
Saddie you are awesome. I will give you my secret... A great musician once told me what separates they average band from the rest, is vocals. SING! You will be great.
A love you SAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats gotta be there dad going crazy watching them loll i love it
It may be the recording device, but I think the Bass could be turned up a bit... just as a rule of thump. Your base player is walking that think like gene kelly in singing in the rain. You guy are really, really improving in leaps and bounds. Huzzah!
Great version girls. :-)
AWSOME GREAT GIRLS
BROTHERS AND SISTERS
This is epic! And I'm so glad that none of these girls had a Dickie Betts moustache!
Superb Done !!!
If these guys aren't around anymore, anyone that is interested should check out the Sheepdogs. They are a Canadian rock band, with a classic 70s sound
Isso que é empoderamento!Parabéns meninas. SHOW! BRAZIL.
