Wow, we need a part two, part three, part four . . . what a fantastic look into the scholarly world of exploring the faith. I myself have had all these doubts at various times and wish I heard this conversation earlier.

It was nourishing to listen to the two humble intellectual devotees. It is amazing that CC Prabhu is such a good listener in spite of a vast amount of knowledge. It is always a pleasure to listen to his summary. Thank you very much. Haribol.

It is a wonderful discussion - training to both the heart and the head. Ultimately every devotee intellectual or non-intellectual is a servant.
Faith has different components - rational, cultural, emotional, social ..
One's faith should have a healthy balance of all these components not lopsided.
For our Vaisnava philosophy, historicity i.e events with exact place and time, is not central.
Desvotees pursuing academic religious studies should safeguard their faith through sincere sadhana and like-minded association.
Faith can be based on rationality. But ultimately faith is solely based on spiritual experience. Rationality can always be used as a tool.

Hare Krishna chaitanya charan Prabhu, I think the podcast with PRABHUJI was getting better & better. I was hoping it would have continued forward. If possible please invite PRABHUJI again.
Big takeaways: Different pov are not separated but sandwiched, each one can get benefit from others. Perfect eg. 1. Cake serving on birthday. 2. Srila Prabhupada spreading kc in west. Both transcendental & socioeconomic perspective at the end of the day increases appreciation towards Krsna & his devotees.
Thank you so much Prabhu once again.

Facts are always important, if it’s lost or missing we should find it. But can’t say we don’t need fact because we never required it in our religion.
So many things we can corroborate with circumstances , flow and sequences of event. We need to work on it.
It’s hard work should not run away from it.

    Around about 1:00:00
Isnt your faith just based on previous faith of previous persons? Where is the foundation?
    Components of faith:
    Intellectual
    Cultural
    Social
    Emotional/Experiental
    *nourish your weakest sides*
Also, it is composed of beliefs AND practices, and experiential.
    Religious understanding:
    Comprehensive
    Consistent
    Timeless
    Vs
    Historical
    Social
    Philosophical
    1:20:26
We need a place where we can raise our doubts without being judged as faithless for asking the questions.
    1:46:24
The analytical study gives us some distance from the practice so we can see some of the elements we may be blind to, i e. Sociological, political, etc
The up close perspective is the difference between asking about how to make a cake, learning the details, versus actually making the cake and tasting it yourself.

Bhakti is never covered by reason, but it never becomes unreasonable.

    Amazing video.
Prabhuji, are you considering inviting anyone if the following devotees:
    1) HG Jaya Jagannath prabhu as well from New York (preciously he was in Chicago)? Would love to hear the conversation between both of you.
    2) HH Bhakti Vikas Swami maharaj. Would love to hear your conversation with him.
    3) HG Radhe Syam prabhuji
    4) HG Gaur sundar prabhu who has been serving in Vrindavan.

Thanks for your suggestions; will keep them in mind. The purpose of the podcast is primarily to discuss issues, and secondarily to get to know devotees or to spread awareness about projects. To have meaningful discussions on issues with anyone, I have found that I need to know them well and have some "intellectual chemistry" with them.

    • @atulkapoor3476

      Chaitanya Charan
Ok. Thank you for your reply. I totally understand your point of having intellectual chemistry with them... When I mentioned these names, I could think of some of the unique topics which could be discussed by you but certainly if you don’t feel like the intellectual chemistry exists then it may be difficult. Thank you prabhu for the kind of service you have been doing. We are so grateful to you.

@@atulkapoor3476 I didn't say I don't have intellectual chemisty with any of them; I was just listing the broad factors I consider while inviting anyone.

Speaking of "history"... Actually this term is not an accurate translation of the term "iti hasa". The very term iti hasa, that happened, suggests that the focus is on WHAT happened, not so much WHERE and WHEN. Western idea/concept of history is very much different. Radhika Ramana Prabhu explained it nicely. Inspiring discussion.

‘Between faith and reason, we should also be a dialogue partner on deciding the terms of the debate’ - how is that not different from saying that a student should be a dialogue partner on the setting of the examination paper? Why is the student asking for a compromised exam? A student’s understanding is indeed accurate, shouldn’t he be able to defend it regardless of what the content of the exam paper is?

Sorry, with all respect, but Prabhupada used to say tha Kurukshetra battle happened 5000 b. C. and that scripitures were almost to be taken literally (almost like fundamentalist religious people do) and these things kept a lot of people distant from the movement. Sometimes he siad it was not so important, but the majority of times he did it. And his western disciples, at least, kept repeating it.I suposed Prabhupada made it after the failure of one sanyasi sent to UK that went back to India with western clothes (one of the reasons at least)

Hare Krishna. So what all facts make your faith?
    1) The vision of the sages or prophets or messengers.
    2) The facts mentioned in the scriptures and manuscripts.
Only these 2 were mentioned by HG Radhika Raman prabhu.
    What other facts???
