- Nancy Wilson’s debut was auspicious. She scored a hit with her first single and recorded an album early in her career with Cannonball Adderley that has achieved iconic status, inspiring generations of young jazz singers. Over the course of five decades she displayed a vocal instrument that would be the envy of anyone, eventually rising to the status of elder statesperson, a position that she occupied with commanding grace and dignity.

WILD IS THE WIND gives me the cold chills ...otherworldly ..
A true fan.
Nancy was her own synthesis, an elegant jazz stylist who left behind a legacy of superb recordings. ❤💘💘
True, that. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos and thanks for all your great comments.
I think this was an excellent overview of Nancy Wilson's career. I appreciate that you described her as a consummate jazz singer who like Dinah Washington was equally proficient in other areas of music. I am often dismayed how such a versatile singer as Nancy is overlooked on the critic's "lists" in favor of singers who although amazing are pretty much only amazing in their special zone. For her versatility and storytelling I always put Nancy Wilson at the top of my favorite and all time greatest singers list. Yes there are some great singers that really blow, but its singers like Nancy that also make sure you listen. Hopefully she will never be forgotten. 2023 and still listening ❤
Cheers to that!
2024 and still entranced by Nancy Wilson
She was a class act for sure, what a stage presence.
Beautiful in every sense of the word.
The Great Nancy Wilson
That entire Carnegie Hall concert is a masterpiece. She was so good live.
As the title says, class + virtuosity.
Just getting into her....what a talent! So versatile and what a catalogue of albums to dig into.
Perfection from album #1.
I just got an original 60s press of the Adderly album and it my new favorite record. I love her phrasing.
You have lots of company in that sentiment. It's a classic.
Wow! Simply the Best. Thanks Chase.
Indeed. You're welcome!
Beauty. Thank-you again for the journey.
I'm glad you are along for it!
Been trying to find an NW track where she utters 'What else is there?' at the end of it. Any ideas?
Not offhand, sorry!
