Great scenery thank you for sharing the journey with us How busy does the service get we are thinking about doing it in august from Newcastle to Haggerston castle but toying with the idea of and getting the train from Newcastle to alnmouth to break up our journey
I would say it depends pretty much on the season of the year, and the fact the tickets only cost £2 now pretty much means it will probably be a lot busier than other years. But it's a lovely route & well worth trying!
685/X15/X18/X93 are some of the tourism style routes, and were some of the big money making routes during the busier times of the year. Middlesbrough bus station used to have people queueing 30 minutes before departure on the first few trips just to get a seat...
I think 4 hours is a very long time, especially for a bus, a coach probably would be more bearable. 4 hours on a plane would take you well into Southern Europe
I guess if you like travelling and love coastal views it won't be too bad, although if you just want to get to Berwick straight away the X15 is the best way to go.

This service should have a toilet.
Yeah, especially since it would be nice if this service was a coach
