  • The third time has come that Maria Schneider visits the WDR BIG BAND with her "Masterpieces". Maria Schneider is one of the world's most distinctive arrangers and band leaders of the current jazz scene. The love of detail she puts into every single piece of music she writes and the way she steadily refines her unique and creative style makes her an outstanding composer.
In the interview, Maria Schneider gives an insight into the cooperation with WDR BIG BAND, her creative process and her composition "Cerulean Skies" which was originally released on her CD "Sky Blue".
This short documentary was produced at the rehearsals in May 2019 at the WDR Funkhaus Studio 4 in Cologne, Germany.

I got lost in the music the first time I heard Sky Blue many years ago on the radio jazz station and was hooked.

Hi Greg! Do you mean the cimbasso? The instrument in front of the bass trombone player ?
