- The adventure continues.. and for the final time this season! This time we’re back at Wembley Stadium for the Finalissima 2022! The Euro 2020 Champions Italy take on the Copa America Winners Argentina!
Wembley was full and ready for this anticipated game! The game started well for Italy with Barella being positive in the midfield creating an early chance for Berlotti.
Di Maria would look very dangerous on the right for Argentina however it would be Magical Messi who skinned Emerson to Set up Martinez to give Argentina the lead!
Argentina would mess countless chances and be denied by Donnarumma. Romero also made an unreal interception as Balotti was denied a certain goal from 3 yards out!
Di Maria would chip the ball past Donnarumma to secure the second before half time. Messi would continue his magic tricks in the second half and dance through the Italy defence multiple times!
He would then set up Sub Dybala to grab the third in added time!
Messi would lift the trophy after a player of the match performance. To win his second international trophy!
What a season it’s been, and don’t worry i’ll be back next year.

yeah but unfortunately it seems like his finishing has really dropped since barca, but he is still absolutely world class in every other aspect of the game

@@rusty111fire i think messi himself prefers playing deep to have the ball on his feet as much as possible, but he's often not even getting good shots on target that he used to be able to do all the time. like it's one thing to not score, but barely getting quality shots on goal is a main reason for not scoring.
and if you look at his free kicks as well, i dont know what happened but it seems like his free kicks got worse as well, which is a good indication that his shooting in general is just not on par anymore
@@hao2000ki yeah, ever since 2017, he’s been dropping back more, explained in an interview he’s taking on more of a playmaker role! His amount of shots and quality do take a hit bc of that depth… too far off goal, also the amount of space there is to get a good shot off is different vs when you’re just a finisher and starting your run in the final third!
When he gets the space, he still finishes like normal…
However he had this same thing where his shooting was off the first 2 months, in the first year of koeman!
He was mad at the board etc. And wanted to leave, then koeman switched some things in the team, pedri started playing and got messi to play normal again, and in many occasion where he scored, all he had to do was either tap in or control the ball and shoot!
Same with his freekicks, it’s really about position of the freekick and confidence… he’s missed more than plenty at barcelona in the same manner
The first freekick he took yesterday, the position too close to the box and too far the right for a decent shot on target.
The 2nd one he was to eager trying to bend it around the wall and curve it top bins, but from the camera behind messi you could see he was trying the impossible… again too close for a good curve to turn in fast enough.
For example the one against liverpool was further away and meant the curve on the ball had time to bend back in.
He was overdoing it, being too eager to score in this game, and that will always make you less accurate!
in psg where he rarely even tires to take a shot anymore, but that has more to do that in psg he always gets the ball too late, they don’t quite understand his movement in between the spaces and most of the midfielders in psg are scared to pass through a gap of 1m to messi, meaning by the time he gets the ball, he has to go 1v4, instead of 1v1 or 1v2, so he rarely even attempts any shot
It’s kind of annoying to see how slow they are in psg’s midfield, I would love to see somebody just get the ball and immediately pass it forwards, instead of the save back or wide passes…
Whenever he did get the ball in a ‘1 touch and pass through the middle kind of way’ on time, and he was in the final third, he was gone and actually could go 1v1/1v2 and scored some bangers… but then the ball mostly came from mbappe and not a midfielder
I really thought verratti was a midfielder who could give those kind of passes, but he slows the game down so much…
@@rusty111fire yet Fox Sports commentators still say Messi is the director of this “orchestra”. Not anymore. That was 2018 and before. Sampaoli’s gameplan was way different than Scaloni’s. Lo Celso and De Paul are the directors now. You can see the 1st goal was Lo Celso’s transition magic. Messi is now a jack of all trades with Di Maria and Lautaro as the first options to score. Their tactics are such that the team can do away with Messi and they would be just fine
