Loved that Simon I can’t believe how much photography equipment has changed since my f5 years ago you have inspired me,so off I go again I’ll tell the wife it’s your fault ha ha ,keep them coming 😊
Well done Simon for not being afraid to switch systems if one is not working for you. I know you had some stupid comments when you first went to the OM-1 but you’re right, the kit is a tool and you go with what works best for you. Okay I was a little disappointed you switched from Nikon to Olympus because I have a D500 and I picked up some great tips on using the D500 from watching your channel but I didn’t stop watching just because you happened to change systems. I watch your channel for the locations you visit, the sharing of your field craft and tips on technique etc. not to mention your great humour. Keep up the great work.
Simon thanks a lot for all the inspiration mate. I’m new to this lark but you are showing me that its possible with the right prep and a little gear. Keep the content coming!
Simon, that was a great video. I love how you plan and rearrange if needed to get your setups. It always shows that a great picture for the most part needs a lot of thoughtful input and time to make it happen. I know there is the occasional - right place, right time - but if it was that easy, it wouldn't be photographic artistry. Great work and thanks for sharing the tips and the outcome of your tips and hard work with us in these videos.
Thanks Ken, its one of the most enjoyable parts of the process for me. Having the vision in my mind and creating the scene!! Just a case of the actors turning up then. Thanks for watching!!👍🏼😀
Nice to see you've gone back to Nikon I'm a Canon man myself. I looked at the OM system about three years ago and had a try in shop.....felt great but image quality for me especially when cropping in on an image was dire. I'm on Canon 5div coupled with 300 2.8 mark two and 2X convertor and it's a cracking set up. Great new video Simon 👍
Cheers Ray, there were certain aspects of the OM system that were fantastic but ultimately like you say the final image is the deciding factor!! Thanks for the support Ray👍🏼
Cracking film Simon, fantastic shots of the deer. The Lagopus hide looks a good bit of kit. Will be interested in watching your review, at 6'4 it would be nice to be able to sit up and not be scrunched for up hours, like in my present hide. Thank you for your films over the past year and before, informative, amusing and an absolute pleasure to watch. merry Christmas and a very happy new year. All the very best to you and yours. cheers 🍻. 👍📷😎
Hey Si just catching up on your last two so I binged watched back to back ! loved how you went through your process in this 1 ! you win some you loose some with them dam Buzzards three almost every morning with in a kilometre of the house on the way to work ! head out Saturday with the camera not1 even in flight ! Northumberland is a beautiful place the grouse is a very striking bird ive never seen 1 in the wild Il visit when I win the lotto :) ! Happy Christmas to you and your family I wish you all the best for 2023!! Take care and enjoy the break
Thanks Pat, all the best to you too. Yeh those Buzzards can really test your patience at times, difficult to photograph at the best of times. Stick with it though!!👍🏼📷
Hi Simon could you expand on the image separation you talked about. Love your videos and style. I use a Nikon D7200. Not up to a Z series yet. Cheers Martin
Yeh Martin, micro 4/3 doesnt have the ability to create the shallow depth of field that full frame sensors do. Therefore you dont get the same image separation and subject isolation that you do with FF. If you can keep a good distance between your subject and the background or get closer to your subject then you can minimize the effect but its not always possible.
Hi Simon, what a cracking video! I loved the search for a nice perch. I too think a perch is just as important as the subject. And I love the music is very relaxing. Stay safe and have a merry Christmas!
Good afternoon and Merry Christmas to you and the family Simon. Just watching the latest epic, reminded me I fell asleep under my Ghillie blanket in the summer, I woke up and scared the daylights out of a poor lady who had settled down with her camera a good ten yards away.
Hi like your videos very much you do a fantastic job ps you was on about the cold I use heat company foot and hand warmers work REALLY well I sit out for hours and keeps me warm good luck paul
Wonderful footage of the Roe Deer Simon pity about the Buzzards but there’s always next time happy Christmas to yourself and your family hears to the next time Laurence .
Cracking video as usual. Need to get yourself down here to the iow to see if you can snap our big buzzards with white tails 😉. Keep up the great posts..... 🤣
Excellent again Simon cracking photos of the deer 👌and perch looks great hopefully you'll get some shots on it ! Looks cold all the best Merry Christmas 👍see you with the buzzards.
Nice one Simon good to see you back at the Buzzard site set up looks spot on and the hide looks awesome as well. Your dead right about being out there in the wild and getting a shot is a bonus just you and nature you cant beat it. Hope you get the shots your after I have no doubt you will. All the best for Christmas and New Year to all. 👍 🍻
Good one, Simon. I really like the way you went into detail showing the gathering of your perch and how you set up your chair blind. I think you do better B-roll than any of the other photographers, too. It all adds interest to your video. I've finished my own photography book for 2022 and ordered the proofs today so I won't be doing anything but experimenting with different setups and trying new places until Jan. Cheers and have a great holiday season. I look forward to your buzzards when you get back.
Thanks Clifton, yeh its a big part of the process that i enjoy. Having an image in your head and then trying to recreate it. Hopefully i can get some decent shots to show you soon 👍🏼🤞🏼Good luck with the book 👍🏼ATB, Si🎄🎄
Another great vlog Simon, I love your enthusiasm for setting things up to get the great shots that you do, I'm the same always looking for great perches. Unfortunately I don't get a massive amount of time to get out and about as often as I would like.
Nice one Simon - I really like the look of that Logopus hide... I've been thinking of getting a 'proper' hide for a while now and the modularity of that looks really neat. Good to see you managed to get yourself a Z9 and I guess that's a 500mm f/4 on it - nice combination.
Cheers Geoff, yeh it was only a matter of time. The Z9 is a beast, well chuffed with it and yes youre right a 500mm f4. Old glass but razor sharp, wasnt sure whether the z400 4.5 would give me enough reach. As far as the hide goes the Lagopus is great for smaller spots, the V6 wins for space. Swings and roundabouts really, all the Tragopan hide are top quality and each have there own merits. Just get one of each!!😆 Atb, Si 🎄👍🏼
Can’t believe I’m the first to like! Great stuff yet again, Simon. Have a good break and stay warm. Minus 8 or so down south today but on Monday we’re forecast plus 13…😮
Fantastic video, very informative 🤗 just wondering if there is a link available at all for the hide with the chair please as it's something I've been looking at 🤗
Great video and adventure Simon. I must say I look forward to your videos as I really enjoy them. Have a Merry Xmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Cheers from down under.
Hi Simon, thanks for all of the excellent advice on your channel. Wonder if you could help me with a question about the Lagopus Tent. I would like to buy one, but I would be using it with a "Bridge Camera", (apologies for the bad language) Ha! It is a Sony RX10iv which has an equivalent 600mm lens, but measures only 6 inches from front of the camera to lens hood. My question is will it work with the built in lens cover on the front of the tent which is designed for much longer lenses? Also, do you still offer a discount if purchased through you. Thanks in advance, and look forward to hearing from you.
Hi, sorry for the delay. The Lagopus tent front is designed to take a very large Telephoto lens but I see no reason why the cover can not be bunched up to accommodate a smaller bridge camera. The discount code for 5% off is ' TragoSimon5'
Hey boss, a bit of strange question but where do you get your clothing from? I’m struggling to find drank green clothing, suitable for shit weather. Thanks

So frustrated
Looks like a nice log with all the bark & Moss thats the type of post I like the best to get photos plus I love Buzzards , could I ask where your woolly hat is from Simon, all the best for Christmas & the New year

Hi Simon I have the nitehawk chair hide which you had and find it brilliant but now use it mainly in the garden, as its a nightmare to trudge out with with my other gear. I was thinking about the tragopan V6 and using one of my ultra light camping chairs (the bungie aluminium pole type ones) with this as it would easily fit in the hide bag together and size wise it looks easier to drag about. Do you know if the chair height would work with this (or the Monal V2 for window height) as the ultralight chair's sit a bit lower? or would you think the lagopus is the better option?
Hi, i get what you mean about the Nitehawk. The V6 is certainly more preferable for space especially combined with the extra awning room at the back. As far as chairs go I cant say about the ulta light chair ( do you mean the Trekology type?). The Tragopan chairs are the perfect height and very well made, there is a compromise with the weight as they are heavier than the ultralight chairs but the perfect height. The beauty of the Lagopus is that it is a complete unit and great for tighter spots but no where near as much room as the V6.
