    I live in Newnan... It's horrific & devasting to say the least! Tons of volunteers & emergency workers worked tirelessly all night & all day to recover all survivors and get them to safety. So many families listened as their homes were ripped apart piece by piece. People trapped all night until they could be dug out. Tons of historic homes were destroyed, our high school is useless. Everyone knows someone who lost everything, it's just horrific. 😭 But Newnan ALWAYS stands together!! We collected so many donations that police & recovery teams told us to stop & people were starting to refuse. Strangers loaning out their extra rooms to those that were hit, offering showers & food to complete strangers. People offering their fenced yards for pets, offering to babysit free of charge so parents could collect any leftover belongings. ❤️ Just pray everyone, we will feel this impact long after you forget it ever happened.

      It was so scary. I live 3 minutes from newnan high. We heard it. My phone never made a noise, but the warning did light up mine and my husband's phones. Thank God my 2 yr old started crying. That's what woke us up. If she hadn't cried, I dont know if we would have had the chance to get to safety. Now every big storm is going to start a panic.

    It's weird to see tornadoes like this in Georgia

      This tornado was rated an EF4 and the last EF4 tornado in GA was in April 27 2011

    We drove through the area, as best we could today. There are entire neighborhoods that are heavily damaged all around the Hollis Heights and Newnan High School. Just unbelievable damage. Very sad

    I live in Peachtree city and I could feel something wasn’t right that Thursday afternoon but I went on with my day. I am praying 🙏🏼 for everyone there. I was awake on tornado 🌪 watch duty once the sirens went off i put my safety plan into play.
    But still you don’t really see EF-4’s In this area very often so this is once in a lifetime
    But still I am supporting everyone in Newnan and hope for a full recovery soon.

      I was in Buchanan, GA just a few minutes south of Cedartown and Cave Springs, which also got hit. I agree. When I was on my way to a meeting at about 3PM, you could just feel it. It looked ominous and I knew we wouldn't go unscathed like we did the previous week. Very sad.

    I hear that u suppose to open window . so pressure will not build up in the house..i learn of this many years ago how to survive 🌪.

      I don't think that is accurate. It used to be something that was recommended but scientists realized it was pointless a few decades ago

      I took a direct hit and the only damage to windows came from trees. I believe the pressure equalized when it tore the roof off and slightly lifted off the foundation. We could feel the wind coming through under the house as it slightly lifted and twisted it. You can even see the wall splitting in a line extending from the top of the foundation in the basement stairwell video I uploaded.

      The yellow Camaro? That’s was my neighbor before I got displaced by the same tornado. He works at Kia… along with my former roommate who lived in that neighborhood too. Yeah, his family was in that house when it got lifted right off of them. Thankfully none of them were hurt. I ended up breaking my arm when the ceiling collapsed though my injury wasn’t counted for some reason.

    I noticed how the older brick home wasn't as damaged as those fancy newer homes. That's one reason I'll rather buy an older home built with bricks vs these expensive new homes made out of cheap wood & plastic.

    • @annafinley1290
      @annafinley1290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I saw the damage first hand. Lots of brick homes were destroyed also.

      Brick homes still lose their roofs. They didn’t show her roof but they did show the 2-story brick apartment building that you could see down into. Parts of the wall were collapsed. It was EF2 at that point.

      Yeah, usually just extremely hot and humid is the worst of it...my granddaughter graduated from the high school there....my daughter and her little family and my granddaughters were just about a block away from this tornado, they lost power so I watched the weather channel and kept them updated...man was I scared, neither home has a basement..

      We usually just get Alabama's sloppy seconds - which means formerly tornadic storms fizzled down to thundershowers

    • @thearmoredgeorgian2736
      @thearmoredgeorgian2736 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, we have lots of tornadoes but they never usually go past EF-1, so many people brush off warnings and it’s pretty stupid. The night of the storm my friend woke his parents and they, despite warnings, told him to go back to bed and just wait it out and we ended up missing the tornado by about a mile.

      Western and NW GA have seen a recent uptick as they keep developing the area. Usually this area bares the brunt of storms coming from AL

      @@thearmoredgeorgian2736 That is very irresponsible. They are lucky that it missed them by a mile. Because if it didn't. He would be dead. It was literally a tornado emergency. That is a warning u can't ignore.
