This is available on the Canon pro 200 where it will and I have printed up to 999mm almost a metre Long , top tip cut the paper a day before and lay it flat ,the longer you leave it the easier it will be to print on and a note i use canons software to print this on but you have to have a border , so ive used 10mm on the width so 13 inch paper Roll width 330.2mm becomes 310.00 printable area works fine .
Very interesting. The fact the Canon can't normally print large panos was my only concern with purchasing one - this clearly sidesteps that limitation. Thanks. My only other concern is whether I should hold off, because canon must be about due to replace it, and perhaps the next model may come with a built-in facility for printing panos - as against having to come up with workarounds like yours.

Thanks for this Tim. Really useful video. I was going to order a17 inch roll earlier for my Pro 1000. Not for panoramic yet but mainly for 24 inch x 16 inch with borders or the metric 600mm x 400mm with a 1cm border. My order will come tomorrow or at the w/e. can't wait to do some large prints in 3:2 format.

Hi Graham and Fotospeed, I'm thinking about buying this printer to print on canvas and use a 17" canvas roll on it. The specifications of the printer say that it only prints up to A2 size which is 42cm but a 17" roll canvas paper is 43.2cm. Were you able to use that 17" roll that you said on this printer or was the paper bigger than the paper feeder?

@@kevinandres2477 Hi Kevin, the printer is actually Japanese of course and so is built for the American and worldwide market. The UK is expected to use A sized papers. Yes 17 in width fits fine. It does say it somewhere but you have to download different spec sheets find it.
There have been updates to the length and it is now about 120cm I think. I printed at 25in x 17in to give 24 x 16 with a 0.5in border all round. The problem was getting the thick, stiff art paper (NST Bright White) flat enough not to catch at the leading edge. I used a Stanley knife to cut the length but it left a small ridge.
If I were to go into frequent printing at this size I would first buy a high quality A2 cutter ( they cut larger than A2) and possible use a thinner art paper. Good luck

I can't help but notice that you didn't take any extra measures to ensure that the paper was square to the printer. Does it auto align? If so, does that rely on a perfectly square cut front edge?
I really wish they would have made it a roller print. My Canon TC 20M holds a 2 core 24x100 roll.
OH MAN!!!! Red River Ultra Satin Pro 4.0. B&W 17" 36" About 15 minutes. Canon Accounting Manager said I used $2.60 in ink. Scotch. Do you like Scotch? I am so buying!! I'm not going to tell my friends, tho. I'm certain you can understand. Thank You, Sir!

Very informative I want to give this a shit, thinking a gallery of 4 vertical 1.2m prints.
Is the GP4000 still manufactured? Is the Pro 4100 it's replacement? And why can't the 4100 use the fluro pink like the 4000?
Your boarders are all over the place the left and right hand side should be equal as did set the boarders manually
I finally figured out how to print 25” on my pixma pro10. But I’ve got quite a few 1:3 panoramas that would look awesome at 36” long. Do you think this driver update would work on the 10?
Very useful tip about tricking the sensor. I have a large 17 inch roll of Ilford Smooth Pearl. When I try to feed sheets cut from this roll into my Pro-1000, there is noticeable curl at the leading and trailing edges. This produces headstrikes whether I use the top or rear paper feed. Suggestions about flattening the paper? I find that reverse rolling produces creases. Thanks.
Would if help to try and just like Tim left a few inches trailing to leave a few leading and then cut it off, would the suction in the printer help and figure out the head strikes after a few inches go through?
I use the same paper and same problem, I just cut paper longer and start print 2inchs back

Can I use it for printing stickers and cards?
Looks easy by watching you. I don't know how heavy is this paper, but I am wondering if we need to uncurl the paper before printing using 300+ gsm fine art paper? And if it was ok to roll the paper in the opposite way or if that may damage the coating. We can read many contradictory advices on the Internet... Thanks!

David, I cut the roll into lengths and store the paper flat, it makes it a lot easier for feeding.

Can I do this on the Pro-100?
You would need to check what the length of the print restriction of the driver is, but in theory, yes.
Sadly you cannot print borderless A2+ with this printer.
