Great fun to go through some of your Ravelry favourites and queue. I like going through some of my old favourites occasionally and I can see how my tastes have changed. One of my current favourite designers is Irene Lin. She has some fabulous designs with voluminous sleeves. I would love to knit the Nora Sweater not only because it’s gorgeous but because my Nanna was called Nora. Hopefully one day although there’s not enough knitting hours at the moment. I say this as I still haven’t quite finished my Bear Paw Socks. Fingers crossed they will be done in the next day or so. 🐾📷
I felt the same way with the heel and those socks. I get the nesting, and just being... I love knitting, but I'm also feeling overwhelmed by my choices and projects.
I like your ramble through patterns you like. I hope you'll do the crochet doily. I made quite a bit of crochet lace in the 90s. I used the same hook and cotton yarn/thread for all of it in order to not acquire stash. I guess I was a process crocheter because I never put any of it to use. But the beauty of it! The pineapples! The cool charts! I have some vintage booklets chock full of doilies, tablecloths, and pillowtops.
Yes I saw that video about under-rated knitting patterns. High Fibre Knits is Canadian, from Toronto Ontario and she does a great podcast! It was good to see some designers get some recognition. You probably just need to give your attention to other things at home Taylor. Working full-time takes up a huge amount of energy, and by the sounds of it you are very involved in with your job. And creative people need down time, away from the things we create. Inspiration and energy to create will come leaping back in January for sure!!
LisaR : I did go through a crocheted doily phase . It was while pregnant & on total bedrest .. It wasn't hard to do , but it's a very different tension . It looks best tensions very firm. A very fine steel hook is needed . I recall " getting it"and then it's speedy . Best to hold hook like a Pencil , try size 10 mercerized cotton thread, and buy a few steel hooks to see which size works best . Lastly ,prevent sore fingers - get the sml foam cushion covers for hook handles or some come with . They can be a little addicting... Yes , you can try blowing up patterns with larger hooks and Cotton, silk , etc .
It was fun to see what patterns you are eyeing out. Max Cyr has a very nice, simple, elegant mans sweater, called Single Malt, that you might like for your husband. It's raglan, not drop shoulder, but looks stunning. Very manly. Did your boss like the hat you made her? Keep well, Taylor!
📸📸📸! I have both the Pitch and the Scout Shawl in my favorites/queue. I've never made a big cabled project like Pitch so it's super intimidating but it's so beautiful, it's one of my "dream" projects. Also I love the idea of starting the Scout shawl in January like a "new year, new techniques" kind of thing. Thank you for the fun video!
I’m later today but Taylor this pattern review was really fun. I really vibe with many of your pattern choices. I managed to add several of your mentioned patterns to my queue as well!📷🎥📸 thanks as always loved it! ClaudiaSJI
Love this video! I love you! Thank you for brightening my morning. I made my dog’s sweater out of 100% wool as you suggested and we both love it! Thank you
Intarsia is easier worked flat- very different from stranded color work. I would never do stranded flat, but intarsia I have done several times with no trouble. I say go for it! One of my top three knits is intarsia, Artemisia by Sartorial Knits, done it twice. I go just the opposite from you- I like trying patterns with very few projects on Ravelry. my favorite in this category is Aaliyah, two versions of it as well.
Yes, doily patterns can be scaled with basically no modification just by changing yarn/hook size (ex. doily rugs made with cord.) I will say though, advanced doily crochet is magnitudes more complex/difficult than any lace knitting I've ever done. I'd strongly recommend trying some easy to moderate difficulty patterns first. Even after 5+ years of doing doilies & other crochet lace I'm still flummoxed by advanced patterns.
I'm enjoying your Vlogmas videos and seeing your local haunts. I live in Frederick so these spots are actually doable!! I love the sweater you're wearing. I have a huge addiction to candy corn and knitting this might be a whole lot better for my health. What is the pattern, is it self drafted?
It is self drafted, but I started with the size XS Doocot sweater by Kate Davies. Then knit the yoke to meet the st count for size S so that it fit deeper… then just knit the sleeves in straight stockinette (no decreases) and marled to fade three colors. There is a small 1x1 rib cuff to keep it from rolling.
@@TaylorOwen thank you so much for sharing your "hack". I am putting this in my brain "queue" since I can't put another thing in my Ravelry fav/que's!!
Nope! We might get a light drift in Demeber but it usually doesn’t start until January or February, sometimes March. We get very little snow unless there is a weekend of three feet every ten years.
This is the video I mentioned that inspired me! th-cam.com/video/XN0SsbnvPDw/w-d-xo.html
📸great video! I have some new favourites too. Thanks!
Your Slipstravaganza is so beautiful. You will love it when it's finished.
thank you so much for the close ups of your cat doing cute things
I love looking at your recommendations. There's so much knitting and crochet goodness out there to see. Thank you! 📸
Going through your Ravelry queue is fun. Yes please 📸
I really enjoy watching you talking about your favourites. I had my Ravelry open was looking up the design with you. So much fun! 📷
While I watch you I'm knitting my very first pair of vanilla socks and I'm so happy!!! I hope one day to knit such cool garments as you do
📷 thanks Taylor, I love you in the car! And taking us with you!

Very cool selection of favourites. I always overshoot with ToeUps that’s why my go to is cuff-downs for socks. Thanks for sharing. 🥰
Ahhhh what I thought would be ‘easier’ is not so much!

📷 Yes, let's definitely go through patterns together!

Keep well, Taylor!
Yes, she liked it very much! Her son stole it from her for the weekend hunting trip. Can’t blame him!
OMG! That was so fun. I was right there with you ready to grab needles, hooks and yarn, more please!📷

Excellent! I love you too ✨
Really enjoyed your podcast 📸
📸 first time here. lol, totally didn’t hate it 😉 nicely done!
Crochet is much easier to gauge & change the size compared to knitting I’ve found, you could definitely do that pattern in a fingering yarn!
📷 so many wonderful projects, not enough time ❤
💯
📷 Thanks for sharing your favorites! Lots of inspiration.
🎥 you shared some really nice projects.
Hello. I'm from Cockeysville. Your knitting is beautiful.
Hello neighbor! Thank you so much 😊
Enjoyed the whole video 📸
Knit wit is my LYS! You should come back. They’ve relocated and the new shop is huge and gorgeous.
Oooo!! In Portland, ME? We are headed there for a day on our way to the cabin in July… might have to stop by!
@@TaylorOwen yup! There’s also Mother if Purl in Freeport which is awesome.
📸 Loved your pattern review 😊

What pattern are you wearing, looks so comfy and fluff-ariffic ❤️ dot pebbles knits has the frog and now a penguin, they are fabulous
You can absolutely crochet with the fingering weight yarn! The gauge can be adapted just like with knitting. Go for it! 📸

📷 I love that kind of content!
