I agree we should be notified as soon as possible when a card is hit but we shouldn’t put too much responsibility at Topps’ feet if someone overpaid for a box. Those over payments would go to a 3rd party seller & not Topps directly. Also, I would imagine 3rd party sellers aren’t beating down Topps’ doors wanting them to release that in a timely manner. I think in the end if we could limit 3rd party price “gouging” then it would ease some of these concerns.

Agree with you that we can’t put all responsibility at Topps’ feet. To pull this off would probably require an unrelated 3rd party distributor and auditor on every set that is released to track these big cards. Topps knew of the Skenes redemption being hit supposedly the first week of January, yet said nothing about it. That allowed weeks to go by allowing breakers and resellers to charge double what the boxes are worth without the card even live in the product. It is unethical and market manipulation.

Interesting insights. I thought regulation was coming too. Well, it’s very unlikely anytime soon or with any real impact. So enjoy it…#redpill

I agree unlikely soon, but they are operating in a very “tread cautiously” grey area for now. It’s not a matter of if but when. Too much money being exchanged to ignore with too much liability implied even if not stated or linked directly.

@ the longer you are here the more you learn it won’t change. That’s why many leave. And many come back and it doesn’t change but it does change.
Honestly a college doctorate could be written on the hobby. It touches all walks of life. And if you know, you know.
      Hence the #redpill analogy. It’s a matrix.

3XMVP sold out in 1 day even at those prices. Topps wins!
Topps/Fanatics knows people will pay the high price at a slight chance of something good. It’s gambling…. and the house (Topps/Fanatics) will be the ultimate winner

Let's realize and accept who is actually in the driver seat. It's not the collector, gambler or breaker. It's Topps. They always had full control and will continue to have control. If not this there will be something else Topps will incorporate into business for max profit.

Topps has a lot of the responsibility for sure. But this also should fall upon regulatory agencies. Sealed wax is clearly gambling that is generating billions of dollars in revenue a year, not to mention the whole CT scanning pandemic. It needs to be audited and distributed by a 3rd party who knows where the hits are and when the pack is opened so they can confirm individual hits are not being falsely advertised for commercial gain whether that be by the manufacturer themselves, or breakers and resellers. It is the first step in the right direction of NOT ripping people off. Topps is doing it because they can. It’s time for someone step in and say NO MORE.
